  1. what he did was wrong if all is true, but is putting his picture and car number on here at this stage the right thing to do, or putting the link on. i agree totally with what HM is saying on this one, no evidence he was drunk as no posative test, libaless i would have thought. prsumably the witness's did not have a speed gun to determin the 130kmph speed claims

Prefabs cant really compare this with cutting a girl in half and doing a runner for 10kms getting changed and going to a festival. this is not a hit and run, had he killed somebody he would not like the young Thai that walk away scot free.

  2. just done mine with a lawyer, it will be worded to revoke any previous will, not sure about the revoke any wills in the kingdom as there may be one back home which that statement would not include.. dont know about the term reside either, do we reside in Thailand. eitherway i used a lawyer and got a copy in thai and english and made him executer, tied in with his firm in the UK as well, so the frim in the UK will be the executer. takes up more of the assets with sols fees but its all going to charity anyway, not North Thailand :cheesy: this will be me looking down at the reading of the will.

  3. i went on the city line to makkasan last saturday, the express pulled in and not one person got off, we got off at makkasan on the city link went outside not 1 single taxi, had to wait whilst one was radioed and this is supposed to be the main link from the airport. the train was full though, but not to many airport passengers on it. guess taxi is way easier with luggage.

  4. you never know here what state of mind somebody is in, can take only a small thing to tip somebody over the edge and this obviously did. the dog owner should have kept her dog indoors and walked it on the leash. piss after all is corrosive. always respect other people property

  5. i am signed into a one year deal with them, its the worst i have ever had, most weekends not a single game of football, when you do get it its in vietnamese communtary, i think 1 movie channel and thats a si fi. i only use it for one tv channel and thats the bbc news. the internet is good though so any tv i want to watch i download anyway. can honestly say its really is the worst tv package i have ever had. still wife likes it as she gets all the thai stuff.

  6. People can hold the arguement that this is a tropical island and so we are going to have power cuts.

Fact is, this has'nt been a tropical island in the real sense for years. Its a tourist haven, TAT's boutique island did'nt you know with the major hotel chains all on board charging $1000 per night. Its also now one of the most expensive places to live in Thailand.

These power cuts are ridiculous and should not be happening. its really pissing off tourists who will not be coming back to this boutique backwater. Just a situation caused by systematic neglect for the usual reasons for not investing in it.

I'm of the mind that Samui is now the most expensive place to live in Thailand.

In the early 2000s I kept a nice little room in Pattaya as well as renting a house on Samui because Pattaya was so much cheaper than here. Over the course of two weeks in Pattaya I spent such a small amount of money that it paid for the cost of the room and getting there and back. But I now reckon that Pattaya would be loads cheaper than here. (But I wouldn't want to live there now anyway!)

Phuket used to be the most expensive prior to the tsunami but now that's changed. Mind you there's a difference between living somewhere and staying there. I know that holiday costs to Phuket are far less than Samui but I have no idea of the general cost of living. But I'm sure it can't be as much as here!

    R

i left Samui last year because of bordom and that fact it had changed so much over the 9 years and no longer felt like and island paradadise, electric cuts, floods every year and airfare. moved to chon buri outside pattaya but only 10 mins down the motorway i would say it at least 30% cheaper on average. booze can be easliy purchased in bars for 50%less as can cafe food especially, western foods. even a hair cut is 50% cheaper. village i live everthing is price marked up or use scanning device for the goods. i have a large 3 bed house with sperate guest living quaters for 8500 per month. 1 hout to the airport. surrounded by lakes and mountains feels like paradise again.

  7. Thanks alot for your kind information. What about the travelling time? Will there be any major traffic jam? Thank you once again!!

Or if you are the adventurous type, or into saving the environment or wanting to save money, go to the bottom level at the airport and get the Cityline train (not the Airport Express - there are two different walkways with the name CityLine or Airport Express marked on them). Get a ticket at the amzingly discounted price of 15 baht (50 US cents) to Makkasan and get a taxi from there (well marked taxi rank) for about 80 baht. Journey time 40-55 minutes. Have done it with heavy roller luggage, not a problem.

I've done this trip myself at least 4 times in the last 3 months - and the even cheaper variant via Phayathai and the BTS system, which I do not recommend for newbies.

It's a very new quick elevated light rail link which is why most of the posters above are stuck in the road option past (they are probably non-Europeans too!)

Makkasan is now 40, did it on saturday promotional price has gone, non stop 150 baht, came in same time as city train it did not have 1 passenger on. if you got a lot of bags the city train gets very full. would say train is best option traffic can be bad from airport.

  8. well i have never had a problem and i am over weight and judging buy the relationships i have seen especially in Pattaya its not been a problem. my wife thai women from rural areas see a fat as a sign of wealth, you got enough money to get fat then you are well. off, take it from me you are not doomed my user name is Nalak, translates to cute. i get called that most of the time no matter where i go. Thais love nalak things.i have lived here 9 years 54 years old and still get hit on on the supermarkets, malls etc buy non working girls. working girls dont care one bit. you most certainly are not doomed fat is ugly only in the western world, all the opinions written are by westerns who see it that way, thais male and female do not have the hang ups we do about it.

as said in a previous post celanleness is way more important

  9. you will need proof of address from immigration, thats a copy of blue book signed by owner, copy of passport with picture page and copy of latest visa stamp on tm departure card. most offices now seem to have own cameras. did mine last week and you have to the test again as in color chart, perfiferral vison, brake reaction and watch the video again. also old licence which got returned.

  10. i got a 4 door big mistake never use back doors and road tax is way higher for 4 door than 2

best get it bought soon all the component factories in Japan going to be shut for months, whilst cars are made here many components imported.

  11. budget have office in Surat, if you get to surat call them and they will pick you up and take you to office, used to be at the airport. although never had to que for years, raja usually drive straight on, with vip ticket go to front of the que on the way back

Anyone know their number in Surat so we can arrange to pick up at Donsak?

On second thoughts travelling with a lazy b*stard so would have to do all the driving....how about a reliable taxi service phone number for Donsak heading west?

    Cheers.

  12. just read Air India plus other Indian pilots sacked after it was dicovered they had used forged documents to qualify for the job, they were flying people around the worls and were not even qualified to fly!!!!!! me i will pay the extra and stick with Western and Arab airlines.

  13. A high-power car and a young driver are not a good combination. While a Porsche is not that difficult to operate when compared, for example, to a Lambroghini, it still has a lot of power, and a 19-year-old will most likely want to drive it to its max in criminal negligence.

My heart goes out to this poor girl's family, and it it so sad to see her life snuffed out like this.

However, while the act itself was criminal, driving so far with half a body in the car is not so unbelievable. Most people would stop, to be sure. But I know of two cases in the US where this happened. In one, the woman drove around with the man she hit and killed in the passenger seat for several hours until she finally got her head straight and drove to the police station. Another guy hit a killed a boy and drove to his garage, parked the car, and left it there. His wife found the car and body the next day.

Shock can make people do very strange things. The boy is criminally negligent and culpable, but his driving for 10 km may, and I repeat may, be not due to arrogance but shock.

The key to see here, in my opinion, is how this whole thing is handled by both the boy's family and the police. And keeping him away for this festival is certainly not a good start.

    RIP, young lady.

one can understand the shcok part to a certain extent but to recover and go onto a festival leaving the poor girls reamins in the car, being cool enough to make the right calls to conceal it, get changed and go and clebrate a festival, surely this can not be the reaction of somebody in shock.

  14. geriatrickid i read your post in disbelif as if you almost condone the event, please never ever let me thinks its normal to drive 10kms with half a body in the car, hes a coawrd pure and simple. you have been watching to much CSI on tv,.the rich kid according to news reports was doing about 160, i think you will find the German car in question would absorb a lot of the impact at the 50km speed, there is no way that speed would cut somebody in two like that. his dad will bail him out and he wont do any time, again the news reports say the call came from police in BKK not to try and arrest him and give him time to turn himself in. how many times do we read the driver fled the scene. a pittance will be paid and a precious life paid in blood money and the rich kid wont think twice about it. things like this make me wonder why i choose to live here.
  15. its a teething problem that pups do have, not much will stop them, maybe buy the pork soup bones from makro, boil them up they should prefer to chew on these than other things. dog chews dont seem to work. the dog rescue usually send out a guy on a motor bike and side car to collect them. darting with a sedative is another option.
