Sorry for the mistake

Where do Germans-Dutch-Belgiums-luxembourgians(?) put there votes.
I am surely not a south west continental/neither UK nor Scandinavian.
But I like the idea.
Some of our members give some information.
Specially when you post regularly and/or chat, I think it is preferable.
I used to check most of the new members during the last 2 weeks (the posters and the chatters),and I found 99% with NO information.

What in heavens name is this.?
Any thing to do with Thai visa-forum?
At least you can put your self on the list as being the one who posts the longest message ever .

Sorry Dr.PP
I did not mean patronizing.
-
No dr.PP I met her in November 76 on an airplane and married in August 77.
Pattaya was a fishers village!
In principal I don't visit Pattaya as I don't want to be looked at as a sextourist.
Later on I visited with family Bang Saen, north of Pattaya. I was the only farang around. For my style of live, perfect.
-
I was in 1972 in Pattaya,I wished it was still like that!
No reaction on my line ; visiting a third world country ......
For all the other writing;may be we differ in opinion.Well let it be like that

A diplomat is not only a person representing a country.
The other meaning of the word is; clever negotiator
Another meaning for diplomacy is; discretion-delicacy
I am not working for the government and most probably would not fit into that world.
I keep my signature if you don't mind

So, three weeks in 1991 makes you the expert
In Sumatra there is a civil war going on.The regular army fights against "islam " seperatists.Negative travel advise from all embassies world wide.
Don't glorify the Suharto period ( he embazzled USD 16 Bilj. for him and his family and crownies).Trying to change all that is a gigantic task and almost impossible, to my humble opinion.
Everywhere in the world nations are struggling. Tourist abduction in the Philipines and South America f.e.
My point is;If one goes to a third world country either for work or as a tourist, don't expect everything to be (almost) the same as at home.
I agree that there is a growing support for Islam. I n the begin 80's the Saoudies pumped milons of dollars into the country, only for Islamitic schools with fundamental teaching.
This is the result!
However not everybody is as fanatic as you think.

I must confess, that I am a regular visitor of the Thai Forum Chat room.
I talked to some nice folks and learned at the same time.
(I think we call ourselves the 50+,however we accept youngsters
)
Let's be happy that this is not gonna be like Bangkok Chat.
Give it time!

After 5 years Indonesia , I will leave for retirement in Thailand by the end of this year.
I am almost sure that I will NEVER go back anymore.
These might be personal reasons and are subjective.
To advise completely negative is one step too far.
There are beautiful spots for visiting and sporting. To deal with the population is a matter of personal attitude.
When I read some ( many) of the comments in Thai Forum about Thai,I almost would not retire there ,if I would not known better!
It is a Kek country so one should know what to expect concerning certain issues.
However, 6 years is enough as stated above

1,1 milj. difference just for levelling off sounds a little bit too much to me.
100 trucks of earth for about one rai will give i meter higher level.!

Mr.Ovenman,
Welcome to Indonesia
That is exact the correct calculation.
about 200K to the " normal " people or 140K to the officials!
-
Isn't there something NOT strange here (in Indonesia) ??
I will write my memories after leaving end of this year.
-
Ovenman,
asean countries visa free
20 other countries visa on arrival
All the rest of the world (included 9 european countries) have to obtain the visa at the local embassy or consulat.
It will take at least 2 working days to have the visa ready and a higher tarif.
An issue in the local papers here is the 30 days restriction.
Many of the backpackers (surfers ) are planning a longer stay than the 30 days.
This group benefits esspecially the locals. They don't use fancy hotels and/or resorts but buy all their needs from the small shops as they are on low budget.
What the result will be at the end.
As Dr.PP already mentioned we still suffer from many other reasons why the tourists number has dropped.
-
If the official say;'it will not hurt the tourist sector" than that is the truth.
By the way we do have sensorship here.
For corruption we did achieve place number 3 on the world ranking.(from down)
Sorry EoS bali is also Indonesia = visa
May be you understand why I am looking forward to move to Thailand.
-
I am not a Dutch , Candy
I only pretend
I hope this will not destroy the regular chat meetings
-
How nicely said Dr.PP.
You have the gift of saying in a few words, where I need complete sentences.
-
In a certain way I like your reaction Mac 39.
You are old enough to make your own (wise) decisions
Unfortunately you downgraded it a little bit yourself, by saying
"or can't you find and so on"
Most I can support

Thanks IT for sharing this information

Georgy Porky
That was exact what I was trying to hint at

I got my Australian visa without leaving the house.Internet for 5 minutes and I could print at home. Valid for one yeat.Multiple.
Great country.Obviously trust my document without visual check or so.
I looked in my passport and it said valid for all countries of the world. However those damned visa rules and regulations per country !!
I agree with Dr.PP that this is a kind of pay back. The minister of foreign affairs was lately talking about those bloody Dutch colonials. The guy was not even born when this finished.Look at my history overview at terrorism thread.
Why Do Farang And Thai Split Up
in General Topics
Posted
This August I will be married to my Thai wife for 27 years.
I will know her than for almost 28 years.
We met in an airplane and started corespondence.
After going through the ballot by the brothers and sisters to get permission to introduce myself to the parents and after getting their permission,my brother in law ( a lawyer) investigated all personal (economical) information.
In the meantime my wife speaks Dutch-German-English and Indonesian.
She is my partner.I am happy when she is happy and she is happy when I am happy.
Without her,I would never have achieved what I have achieved till now.
Guess what I voted?![:o](//forum.thaivisa.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png)
