  1. Yohan,

You cannot compare riots with a killing mob.

Mostly, I think your opinion is fair and balanced (look like FOX :D:o ),but here I think it is naive.

I believe that if not reacted firmly in this case , we now would have had missing weapons by the hundreds like last time. And the whole would criticize Thailand.

(Wait till the tens of thousands of students from the Khak boarding schools come at age. :D )

I am not that optimistic as you might be

  2. There is a difference between a business trip or holiday trip I would say.

    Both need different approach.

There is a topic ; visa other countries on this forum

Websites from embassies or ministeries of foreighn affairs of the several countries also give (most technical) a lot of information.

Website of National Geography and others give values tourist info.

If I can be of any help concerning Indonesia please let me know.

  3. I wonder if you will get any respons in this forum.

You see that my question b4 only got two reactions.

Looking at the level of your game (single handicap) and having obviously time and money enough, I would suggest to become member of the Thai Golf Association who organizes a lot of events.

Your handicap is too low for me,although I may have a lot of fun more :o

    Have a nice game!

  4. That's correct and as Holland does have treaty with Thailand ,I will be taxed for my world wide income in Thailand.(at my own choice)

All payments in Holland from pensionfunds or whatever will be gross payments as agreed with tax authorities in Holland.

I think I can prove income to immigration authorities after my first full year in Thailand.!?

  5. I hardly can imagine that all our members who are planning to stay here or are already here for stay, do not have any kind of health insurance.

    In the meantime I found;

AIA waiting for respons from kanjana

    Bupa info received

    Ayudhya no respons

Royal and Sun wait for respons

What about world wide operating insurance companies and their reps in Thai?

    Any body?? :o

  6. Not a big surprise for the ones who know me :D

    After my retirement end of this year;

    Mo-We-Fri Golf

    Tue-Thu Shopping

Weekend Lazy Lots of time for books and music and and and !

everyday Internet communication with son (Holland ) and friends.

Planning to make many short trips to discover more of unknown parts of Thailand.

This all together with my levely wife (Thai)

No more dead lines,no more budgets (but my own ! :D ), no demanding bosses!

    Life is good :o

  7. Jeff1,

I will let you know as soon as I made my choice.

BTW I only ship full container load. (my wife actually ships as returning thai)

all items are fully insured for any loss or damage.

These international companies are dealing on a daily base with this.

Eventual teamoney is altready included in the all-in price.

    George,

It is the emotional value of many things that one collects during his life time. The older you become the more value it represents and the more you collect. I never lived in full furnished houses where I would arrive with only some suitcases.

But it is a personal choice I would say.

    :o

  8. Moving companies have their contacts with the customs already before the shipment arrive. All the goods are detailed on the packing list.

In my case I even have pictures of the goods /per item!

In the door to door price is included any kind of extras that can be or will be expected.

Part of the deal is also that they are the ones who will pack!

Thanks for warning anyhow ,I will discuss once more and put everything on paper.

  9. I am investigating my move to Thailand by the end of the year.

In another thread I informed Jeff1 about the same.

    Take an international moving company.

They know all about the rules and regulations.

Ask for a door to door service. It will be completely their resposibilty.

    They will survey you before.

I am planning 2 20ft containers. After a long marriage you will have more collected than as a newly wed couple.Goods must be at least 6 months or older.

  10. Hi Jeff1,

Just take a professional international moving company.

They know what and how to do.

They will provide you with a lot of information and rules and regulations if you ask for a door to door quotation.

I just had some talks with Crown/Santa fe-Silverhawk/Kotaisan for my future move.

May be pay some more but have a lot of worries less.

  11. See penelope advise Thai golf website.

If you only play about 2 rounds why to travel around with your (heavy) golf bag.?

Most courses do have clubs rent possibilities.

caddy tip between 100 and 200 baht.

Be prepared for a lot of water on the flat courses .

Pak Chong (180 km north-east of BKK) has some hills.

many hotels offer golf day trip but they are rather expensive.

phone the course and ask for opening times (many are closed on monday!).Ask when sport day tariff apply (very cheap) and arrange a private taxi for the part of the day.

    Great fun :o

  12. I found your reaction too negative.

I am planning my retirement already long time and I am well aware of the positive and negative(like everywhere in the world).

I am just a member like you.Banning is not in my vocabulary.

If people become too personal (insulting or so) I simply don't react any more.

May be because I am 61 years old and 27 years married , I accept certain aspects of life.

The world is not black or white.Enjoy life :o

  13. anamore,

you not really answer to the topic question.

However your observations of the forum reactions are nice.

It is like always in life neither black nor white with a lot of greys!

    Ellis,N

Next August I will be married for 27 years with a Thai.

22 years spend in Holland-Germany and last 5 years in Indonesia.

Hope for at least another 27 years more :o

My wife is visiting this website frequently and has a lot of fun.

We will retire in Thailand by the end of this year.
