  1. I would not report a farang as long he doesn't cross me on some bidding wars with some of my clients in Thailand by undercutting me by 50%.

I pay on average 600k in taxes per year and a guy without work permit pays often no taxes. It's very easy to find out if someone works illegally and has nothing to do with a WP BUT A TAX-ID.

Just lust week I had a chat with an official at the Revenue Department and he told me that even farmers needed from next year a TAX-ID.

  2. Great news about time many people suffered under Yingluck's Government time to face reality , this is what they get for being puppets .

    thank you General Prayuth.

Not enough evidence and Yingluck is out of politics for sure.

To be fair, if the NLA impeaches Yingluck they surely have to go after Suthep as he destroyed the tourism industry for at least in Bangkok.

Corrupt government officials have always been send to an inactive post. Thaksin got screwed because after the coup he continued from overseas.

Why the NLA doesn't bring Thaksin back? Simple, they don't want him back.

  3. Cases like this (random sex related crime with no motive) are always difficult to solve no matter what country they occur in. Many of the comments on this case are unjustified. The Thai police are clearly putting massive resources into solving it, and the PM himself has ordered action to improve security on the island and others in the area. If the perpertrators came ashore by boat will be like looking for a needle in a haystack. At present the police and the government appear to be doing all they can.

  4. Thanks for your replies. In answer to some of the questions raised:-

We don't know how he is getting customers, my friend thinks maybe he uses a Russian tour agency for the short stay holiday makers.

I'm sure this multiple condo owner isn't advertising a 'hotel' as such, or even considers it a hotel himself. We're saying that with the short stay rentals, of only a few weeks to vacationers, it has effectively become like a hotel within a condo apartment building. Of course vacationers don't have the same respect for the property as the owners do.

The main problems are noisy drunken behaviour, excessive use of pool, gym and sauna (causing increased electricity bills to be shared by owners) and rubbish and cigarette butts about the pool area.

The only 'security' I've seen at his condo is a skinny guy watching the parking lot!

I'll pass this advice on but I guess the answer is for him to sell up & move on! Its is a shame though, before all this it used to be a great place to live.

I don't understand this continuous mention of excessive use of gym and pool. The owner obviously pays his maintenance payments which allows use of the gym for the permitted amount of units he has. If it is a holidaymaker or resident, they can still use the facilities in the allotted times.

Good point. If the guy that bought 15% of all, units and pays of the maintenance fees for 15% of the total fee he should be fine.

This is Thailand. I wish I am able to rent by condo at 1500 Baht a day and collect 45k a month but I am just renting it for 15k a month and often late payment.

For the OP you should have buy a house.

  5. I posted on the very first ; " Thailand will be judged not on the murders but the response to them " All I can say is that the response has been extremely poor , perhaps that is not entirely unexpected. What has really disgusted me has been the hardline apologists who simply wont concede that patronage and corruption may just mean that justice will never be served !

Yes Joe it disgusts me too.

Some of these posters should know better than to accuse those who highlight the patronage system being the root cause of the problems in Thailand as being "Thai bashers".

The patronage system is a parasite feeding off the Thai people and returns only misery to them.

The true impact of this evil only becomes apparent to expats and others when people like David and Hannah also become victims of it.

Thailand is not a safe country so long as a proportion of their population know they can literally get away with murder.

    QFE & fixed:

"Thailand is NOT A SAFE COUNTRY so long as a proportion (100%) of their population know they can literally GET AWAY WITH MURDER.

Personally I'm very seriously considering divorce over this because my thai wife refuses to believe that a thai is responsible.

    Brainwashed by thai TV.

Come on ScubaPhuket it is not 100%. The whole of the Northeast of Thailand is very safe as long you have common sense. In over 24 years I have been in Thailand I only had once a problem in Thailand and it was a farang.

A lot of Thai's are discussed and feel ashamed of what happened to the two Brits. Their are hundreds of thousand of Thai's employed in the tourism industry and they are certainly not murderers or think they can get away with it.

Rape happens all the time in Thailand and often they are Thai's and they often don't get away with it.

Now you want to divorce your wife because she refuses to believe that a Thai is responsible? It's up to her what she wants to believe.

  6. So lets assume expats that stay in Phuket reports those taxis but how about the millions of tourists that visit every year Phuket. Do you really think that those tourists will waste time in reporting any one.

Nothing will change in Phuket or any where in Thailand. Its just cosmetic and PR by the government.

  7. Ofcourse he don't want to adopt away his daughter!

This is a cry for help.

What a disgrace for a country calling itself Bhuddist!!bah.gif

Instead of donating to the fat monks in their golden temples, what about "making merit" by helping a fellow Thai i dire need of help??

If anyone is in the area of this poor guy, I am willing to donate 1000baht/month for as long as it is needed.

If a few others do the same, maybe we can create a decent life for this guy and his daugther.

Not just talk, so if anyone is willing to organize some kind of charity, just PM the details and I will transfer the money.

I am on board as well and happy to contribute 1000 Baht every month.

  8. Thais getting so much hate from the westerners here, lol. Its like no western does something like this, people must of forgotten the norweigan guy who hopped on the island to kill 80 people, he's got himself a nice cell with ps3, but you want capital punishment for the murderers of these two people, why? Because a farang got killed by an asian, hypocrisy at its best!

No, the hatred is towards mafia scum, and corruption . As for the Norway massacre, what has that got to do with it?

You appear to be a KT mafia apologist, something to lose?

I've never even been to KT before, I'm just tired of the constant thai bashing going on here. Every time something happens like this, people remind how corrupt Thailand is, and how violent Thais are. In my book murderers should get Capital Punishment, but its funny to see westerners here wanting capital punishment when rapists and murderers in their own country get treated so leniently.

USA has the best laws in the world, and every country should take the justice system in the states as an example, Europe has too lax laws!

Not sure how long you have been in Thailand but from my experience Thai's never get prosecuted when they kill a farang lady. Their have been many cases in the past 24 years that I have witnessed and not once have they prosecuted someone and put in jail. (eg Chiang Mai, Kanchanaburi etc).

This has nothing about with Thai bashing to do. People on this forum bash the police and their incompetence of handling any case. Would Bangkok has not not got involved the whole case would have been closed with putting the wrong people in jail.

I said from the beginning that either Ya-ba people's are involved or influential people's.

I hope now the general cleans up the mess by getting rid of of those influential people's which are all over Thailand and are linked to the police.

No bashing really but you have no idea about Thailand.

  9. Why in god's name do the Russkies get unlimited entries? If I had to pick one group prone to illegal work...

What about Australians? Is this entire visa thing just too silly? If they get unlimited why not give them indefinite time. Think of all the green house gas saved. All this gives me dizzy spells.

the reason is political. Australia has been critical of Thailand in many areas, on the other hand Russia has assisted many corrupt thai officials to launder money so they enjoy a "special" relationship.

Any proof of that? Australia has tough visa laws against Thai's but the Russian and Thai have a visa waiver. Besides tourism is down in Thailand so a Russian that comes and goes every 4 weeks to Thailand would count as 12 Russian that arrived in Thailand so TAT has a way to spin the numbers over the next 1 year.

  10. Don’t forget that people who have a Thai Elite card are getting a 90 Day entry stamp each time they enter Thailand.

Therefore if you want to stay longer you have to do an extension (TM7) at your local immigration office to gain another 90 days. As for every extension this will cost you 1900 Baht. ( I heard that some immigration offices are waving this 1900 Baht but Phuket Immigration will charge you as normal )

We get 12 month when we enter on the TE visa.

  11. Great bit of timing, lets hear it for the tourist police, everyone can feel safe now......but seriously good job TP for helping out that guy nice one... what they dont tell you is there isnt any TP in a lot of tourist locations.

Could be they are all volunteer's, have to pay for their uniforms and just don't have the resources to cover all tourist locations.

Tourist Police, as referred to in this report, are a professional division of RTP, they are Thais and are not volunteers.

RTP Volunteers are foreign volunteers who assist the Thai officers.

Well said - Thanks god no foreigners in the Thai Tourist Police. A lot of crooks in the volunteer group of Pattaya and Phuket police too.

  12. The guy would get any necessary treatment, even immediate financial help and all expenses paid by the government for a place to stay in Germany. Why the heck did he come to Thailand to beg on the streets? There is something more to his agenda- in my opinion the guy has something to hide...

Maybe he wants to hide his big foot?
