If being a woke means being kindhearted and helping others worse off than me, then I am proud to be a woke. I wonder what it really means. If you think that being conned makes you a mug, then please explain who was being conned out of what here. I don't see anybody being conned. I do see somebody giving an act of kindness to another human being. Perhaps that is where we differ.

U.S. lists Houthis as terrorists, rebels hit another US-operated ship

AFAIK answering a post from anybody is not trolling them. -
The people I hate the most are sanctimonious moralists that spring up every so often on ANN/TVF in the last few years. If I can afford to give help, then I do. If I can't afford it then they are welcome to share what I have. No strings attached, no comebacks and NO harsh words of condemnation.

I would hope that you are in the same position as the backpacker one and then I hope that the vendors will give you food and other customers would give you water. Would you be a loser then. As for the "concerned netizens", I wonder if any of them would do the same. I doubt it. As far as I am concerned if anyone is hungry and thirsty, they can have my food and drink at any time.

Do you have any sensible or better ideas? Instead...discuss things with the poster on the thread and put your thoughts and ideas across, and let anybody join in... -
U.S. lists Houthis as terrorists, rebels hit another US-operated ship
billd766 replied to Amethyst's topic in World News
One way to counter that is to put every US and UK on to maximum security 24/7/365. Yje problem with that is that they will need a huge increase in manpower to cover it. If the Houthis and their allies are quiet and patient the threat level will slowly lesson and that is the time that they will strike Most airfields for example have a perimeter fence between 10 and 15 km long and some are even longer and if you only put 1 guard every 100 metres you will need 600 guards every 24 hours, 3 by 8 hour shifts, with 1 shift given 24 hours off every 3 days. That is for a 10 km fence only. I agree up to your last point. The US is split between the Democrats and the GOP and they are too busy fighting each other for power and control, instead of working together for their own benefit, rather than that of the entire USA and the rest of the world. -
Kaset Fair to Showcase Farming Innovations and Culture
billd766 replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Which is true enough, but how many farmers are there in Bangkok compared to the rest of Thailand which is where they should hold it, preferably in every rural province or perhaps close to a clump of provincial borders. -
Kaset Fair to Showcase Farming Innovations and Culture

Now why would anybody hold a fair on farming innovations when the farmers live hundreds pf KM away from the fair? -

Swiss Man Admits Killing Missing Thai Wife: Police

Why are you sorry for somebody who killed his wife. It was HER money, and hers alone, to do with as she wished and NOT his money or their money, -

So what? It was HER inheritance, so she could do what SHE wanted to do with it, and NOT his money at all. -
IMHO the only demented people are Putin, his war cabinet and his yes men advisors. Putin and Russia believed that the Ukraine would be a pushover, NATO and the West would stand idly by and it would all be over by Christmas. That didn't work and now Putin really only has nuclear weapons as his reserve, and once again, IMHO I don't think that his military advisors would recommend using them.

Do you turn the pork over every 24 hours?

It doesn't really matter, as you can't take it with you when you die. I live in my wife's house that I paid for, on her land. half of which I paid for. When I die (I am 21 years older) she gets it all plus a % of my 2 pensions. We will have been married 24 years this year and she deserves it all. When she dies it goes to our son to do with as he wishes, but at the very least he will own his own home.

Giant Python Blocks Road, Invades Naval Officer's House

Now if they had a submarine with an engine, they could bung a set of wheels on it and torpedo the python. -
Thai agencies promote youth political participation amid rising issues
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It is a good idea and only about 50 years too late. -
Good idea but people seem to prefer to live reasonably close to work and within commuting distance. The further you move from the bigger cities, the harder it is to find a job to commute to, assuming that you are still close to your commuter network. It has been said many times that Bangkok is slowly subsiding and in a couple of decades or so may be uninhabitable. Where will people live, work and commute to, then?

All this fuss. AFAIK the us has to get the UK government's permission to station extra weapons on UK soil. As for the person who killed a Brit on the roads, it was a woman civilian married to a US serviceman who caused the accident, and NOT a US serviceman. She only had immunity because she was married to him.
