  1. Just because it "should" be covered, does not mean that it "will" be covered. Up until the end of 2023, most pensioners were not concerned about paying Thai tax. Now they are, and there have been lots of threads about it. IMO what Mike Lister is trying to condense it into one topic with confirmed information, rather than what people, especially the Thai RD could, would, should and ought to do. At this point, and until a poster actually meets the RD, gets his TIN, files his claim and reports back here, nobody really KNOWS what the new rules are. I feel that the topic needs perhaps 10 reports, from single, married. married with children of school , college and university age, and from as many different nationalities as possible. Until that point is reached there are few confirmed reports and the topic is turning into a slow motion buggers muddle. At this time I am only trusting reports from Mike Lister and his team as he seems to me the only person who has spent a lot of time researching the subject, and who has come up with concrete information.
  2. They are all different departments and most probably don't talk to each other on a day to day basis, let alone on paying tax or issuing a tax paid card. Which department do you think should issue such a card, assuming that such a card exists now, or possibly in the future, For example if the RD issued such a card and you rolled up at a national park, what do you think the chances are of the NP staff even knowing about it, let alone acting on it?
  3. But are those exemptions for the US ONLY, or are they world wide exemptions for every country with a DTA? If is for the USA only, then it is country specific and only of limited use to US citizens. OTOH if it applies world wide then it will be generic and useful for all pensioners whose country has a DTA with Thailand.
  4. WAS he charged with that offence by the NY AD? If he was, fair enough. If he wasn't then once again you are diverting, or trying to anyway, off topic.
  5. I have had a couple of problems over a few years, and that was because I misread what I thought I ordered. I have just ordered 3 separate items from 3 different suppliers this weekend (1 is a re-order as I have already used the original up). The shipping cost alone is much cheaper than the cost of travel to buy the items as they are not available locally, even if I could find them locally.
  6. Lazada doesn't seem to sell anything. AFAIK they are simply a place where sellers offer the goods and the buyers choose what they want. Lazada then get a percentage of the transaction. All the stuff you see on offer is at the sellers property which may be in a different country. Lazada doesn't manufacture anything, but simply links buyers and sellers.
  7. Go ahead, but not in this thread, which is about Donald Trump. Trump may be many things, but he is not a war criminal AFAIK. Start a new thread in the World News, but don't forget about the war criminals in Israel, Gaza or Russia will you.
  8. And this thread is in the world news which IS covered by Asean Now.
  9. This thread is getting like the pantomime in the UK. As in Thaksin is in the prison hospital. "Oh no he isn't". "Oh yes he is". The UK pantomimes are usually quite funny. This is simply boring. 7 pages and 192 responses and for what? If there is nothing we farangs can do, and there isn't, why so much concern?
  10. Thank you for that information. I had not realised about the either or option on a joint bank account.
  11. A rhetorical question with no answer. From my experience with2 blackouts last year, you get no warning. It happens just like that. Unless your private jet is the fully equipped version of a complete hospital, all the money in the world won't help. How many times in Thailand have there been when some numpty has deliberately blocked an ambulance from passing?
  12. Lucky you. I am 79 and I woke up in hospital last February after a blackout. I had no idea of where I was, how I got there, the time or date or even if my wife had any idea where I was. I still have a blank spot in my memory of 4 or 5 hours. I had a second one in July which was not so bad. I was watching Youtube on my pc and the next thing I know, was my wife beating me to wake me up, my neighbour fanning me. It seems that I had woken my wife by moaning like a ghost on a Thai lakorn show, and she came down to find me hanging out of my chair. The ambulance came very quickly and they took me to the local hospital emergency room, who checked me out and sent me on to the provincial state hospital another 50 km away. Just my personal view about something I DO know about and understand, Then again, I am not a keyboard doctor or surgeon like many posters on this thread, so what do I have to offer apart from personal and practical experience. I think that soon I will have to pack a grab bag with some underwear, a shirt, shorts etc, some meds and a list of the meds I take. When the ambulance crew take you, they take you as you are.
  13. And do you have any proof that he is right or wrong, instead of your usual kneejerk reaction. If you believe he is wrong, then explain to him and us all, why he is wrong, and don't forget the verifiable links and facts.
  14. Would you even know you had such a condition?
  15. I do so enjoy how the many physicians, heart doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists sitting anonymously behind keyboards can reach their conclusions, without reading ALL the patients medical history, and indeed, without ever meeting the patient face to face.
  16. However you will only be taxed on your military pension once you exceed the tax free personal allowance. My company pension is taxed at 20% and my military pension is taxed on the balance of my tax free allowance and my state pension combined, minus the personal allowance. Probably because it is easier for HMRC than taxing a company pension.
  17. Not necessarily. People change over time. Take Nelson Mandela for example. Hw was a terrorist or a freedom fighter (depending on whose you are looking from or at) and went on to become President of South Africa. Only people with rigidly closed minds refuse to change.
  18. I am glad that you mentioned anti Zionist and NOT anti Jewish or anti Israeli. Here is a link that you may find interesting or not. https://www.annefrank.org/en/topics/antisemitism/are-all-jews-zionists/
  19. I found it reasonably clear and can understand it. One good thing I found is that it has covered the basics and is not specific to any one person. Anybody can ask specific questions that Mike may or may not be able to answer. However there sib nearly 12 months before anything actually takes place and for specific answers that Mike is unable to answer, there is the revenue office in each province who should be able to give a sensible reply.
