  1. More sound effects this afternoon and a small sprinkle of rain. At 14:45it is 33,8C in the shade, 52% humidity and my barometer is reading 1008 mb, down from 1011 mb at 08:00, but slowly rising again.
  2. Good afternoon Sandy Sadly just sound effects at the moment. No light(ning) effects and definitely no rain.
  3. It is clouding over here and the wind is getting up. My barometer is down to 1004mB and there was a 40% chance of rain according to Accuweather. Having said that at 07:00 Accuweather said that there will be a possibility of a thunderstorm this afternoon and they also say that in the big village there will be 0.6mm of rain. So far here there is not a drop anywhere.
  4. So far this year since 01 January, where I live in rural Kamphaeng Phet we have had 19.3mm of rain. Fortunately we are on mains water but this week we had to buy in water for the first time in a couple of years. The TMD forecast for here is no real rain until the end of May and probably less rain this year than last year. The last real rain we had was 5.9 mm over 20/21/22 March. The klong across the road in 2011 was about 10 metres wide a 3 metres deep but it is now possible in many places to walk across it without even getting the soles of your shoes wet. There are some small pools of water in places, but that is all.
  5. I should think that is quite possible yo do so. Having said that, you would have to know how how many units of electricity you currently use daily, then build/get built, a solar array to supply at least 4 or 5 times the equivalent daily usage to have enough daytime power to run all the current system you have, plus enough to keep the battery backup for when the solar system is on minimal charge at night. I am sure that the must be a formula available to give you that result, but that is not in my skillset. I don't that is possible to home build one like that and the cost of such a system would be expensive, assuming that it can be expanded by perhaps 5% per year. The ROI would take a long time (if ever) to pay for itself given that the batteries will degrade over time, as will the solar cells.
  6. I agree with you. I only lasted 47 seconds before I dumped it.
  7. Correct supposition. I am British. He did nothing for me personally as he was not the king when I used to live in the UK. but then again I wouldn't have expected him to. What did he do against you, as I suppose you're British?
  8. But he has done far more and is still doing far more for the people of the UK, than you have ever done or will do.
  9. What a brilliant idea, <deleted> off the Immigration and tourist police in Thailand.
  10. Thank you for the information. One of the problems that I have found since we built the house 20 years ago is that we have no access in the house to get into the roof space. I at 79 am too old to make one and TBH the number of times that I have needed to go into the roof space, I can count on one hand with fingers left to spare.
  11. My apologies you are correct. I was however responding to a post quoted by DjSilver. I notice that you picked me up on it but not him, and that is his post at the top of my reply.
  12. I know this is an odd question or 3, but the solar lamps that I have at the moment run out of charge after about 6 hours. The power cables from the charging panels are only about 2 metres long around 6 or 7 mm thick, expending to perhaps 10 or 12 mm thick where they plug into the light itself. Do you have a special cable or connector of extra length and thinness to get them into the house some how or do you drill a big enough hole in the wall and then put sealant in the hole as well? If the panels are on charge all day how do you run the lights as well? Can you run fans from them as well during the day or do you have an external solar array? So far this year except for April I am using an average of 21.5 units of electricity per day. Because April was so hot and the main a/c downstairs has been on 6 hours a day, during April I was using 31.5 units on average per day. I am 79, and the heat downstairs has been getting to me during April. Even my wife who is Thai and 58 is coming in when the a/c is on.
  13. Mt wife has been dropping some gentle and not so gentle hints about a new car. I will show her this and suggest it is OK for a trip to the noodle shop in the village. Before I do that, does anybody know how to set up a GoFundMe account?
  14. I opened the link on my first click using Google Chrome. Here are the first few lines. Palestinian Territory - The consequences of the 200-day Israeli military attack on the Gaza Strip are horrifying, both in their scope and their deliberate targeting of Palestinian civilians. This is particularly alarming given the shameful lack of global pressure on Israel to adhere to international law and the rulings of the International Court of Justice and to halt the ongoing crime of genocide against the Palestinian people. Euro-Med Monitor outlined in numbers the catastrophic results of the genocide being carried out by Israel with the aim of destroying Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. This genocide continues unabated, with Israel persisting in its attacks at the same intensity and committing horrendous crimes, ignoring escalating calls for a ceasefire. Israel is fortified by protection of the U.S. and European and international stances that, at best, only amount to condemnation statements. And a few more, and there is a lot more in the link. The Israeli army has killed 42,510 Palestinians over the course of its 200-day attack, 38,621 of whom were civilians, including 10,091 women and 15,780 children. The bodies of several thousand are still stuck under the rubble, while thousands remain missing and are presumed dead. These statistics include the killing of 137 journalists, 356 medical personnel, and 42 civil defense personnel. Based on these data, the daily death toll for Palestinians has reached 212, including 50 women and 79 children. These are horrifying statistics and unprecedented in the context of contemporary warfare.
  15. When I used to drive any long distance I would stop every couple of hours and take a break. In Thailand every second stop I would have a sleep for a while. Arriving safely matters, time doesn't.
  16. Who can afford to buy a property in the UK anyway? You would need to earn 4 or 5 times that amount just to get into the housing market list anyway. When my Mum died in 1973 I was offered the chance to but the rented 2 bed bungalow for 6,000 quid. Nowadays similar properties are selling for between 4 and 5 hundred thousand pounds. I didn't take the offer, as I was off to Germany the following week, and I couldn't have lived in it for another 11 years anyway.
  17. Don't forget to keep your blinders carefully placed to support Israel only. Explanation of "blinder". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blinkers_(horse_tack)#:~:text=Blinkers%2C sometimes known as blinders, some cases%2C to the side. Both "blinker" and "blinder" are also used metaphorically to refer to people with an overly narrow focus or inability to see the larger picture. The term can be seen as implying "a limitation or obstruction to sight or discernment".
  18. quote from your post. And before anyone tries to label me an 'anti-Semite' and a 'Hamas sympathiser'.. I equally condemn the terrorist organisation Hamas, and the terrorist-regime of Netanyahu. Both have to go. If anyone does label you an 'anti-Semite' and a 'Hamas sympathiser' on ANN here, be proud to be labelled thus. It means that they have no real answer or solution to the problem, so they have to resort to insults.
  19. Wow. One person at one site was waving the "wrong" flag and was arrested. Out of how many protestors at how many university campuses. Does he NOT have the right to protest also? What has happened to freedom of speech in the USA, and other western countries, come to that? Freedom of speech US style. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-68923528 New York City's Columbia University has begun suspending students involved in a pro-Palestinian protest on campus after they defied a deadline to disperse. College leaders earlier warned those who failed to disband from the two-week encampment by 14:00 EST (18:00 GMT) on Monday would face disciplinary action. But as the deadline passed, dozens of students rallied at the site. In Texas, police arrested dozens of protesters and dismantled their camp at the University of Texas at Austin. Officials there said protesters had ignored directions to take down their tents. The college said in a statement that "baseball-size rocks" had been found in the encampment and the "majority of protesters are believed to be unaffiliated with the university".
  20. Mine went up over 40% in April over March. Having said that, it was Songkran and we had 8 extra visitors for 4 days, and 2 of them stayed for 2 weeks. My wife tells me that next month may be worse. even though there are only 3 of us now.
  21. Then Israel should stay within its own borders and perhaps this might never have happened.
  22. I test my blood sugar every Monday morning before I drink or eat anything using my Accu Check Active Glucometer. I bought it on Lazada for 1,130 thb last May plus 50 extra test strips and 50 extra lancets for 487 thb. Only during this month, April 2024 has it gone past 7.0 since I started testing in June last year. That has given me an average of 7.7 and it is going back down again. Whilst it is not perfect, it does give me a fair idea of my blood sugar glucose and it only takes 2 or 3 minutes at home once a week.
