Joe Rogan Challenges Mark Zuckerberg Nuclear Bunker Speculation
billd766 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
What a wonderful idea to build a nuclear "bunker" that large. The problems that I can see with that plan are basic and simple. How much food would you need to store for up to 30 families and for how many years would you need to store it, 1, 2, 3, 4 or even 5 years? Where and how would you dispose of the trash generated? Where and how much water would you need to store, and where would you dispose of it? How would you supply the electricity to power it? How many weapons and how much ammunition would you need to defend the bunker and yourselves in the aftermath? How would you know when it is safe to leave the bunker? When you finally come out, where would you find food, water, clothes, even other people etc? Assuming that you do come out, and there are things to buy, (unlikely I know), how could you pay for it? -
What a shame that you forgot to mention that the Soviet Union was a German ally right up until 1942, when Hitler stabbed them in the back and declared war on the Soviet Union. quote "Reckon the Soviet Union did a lot of UK ass saving too". Can you explain how you came to that conclusion? Especially in the light of the UK and the US supplying the Russians with weapons, vehicles, uniforms, medical supplies, food, oil etc through the Artic convoys and the Arab Gulf routes. Or how Allied seamen whose ships were sunk were interned by Russia, or how Allied aircrew were also interned by Russia when their aircraft were shot down or crashed while attacking German targets?

10% of Thais Engage in Heavy Drinking, Report Finds
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I agree 100%. I live with 2 Thais. My wife and my son. When I go shopping to the local village or market, I am usually the only farang around. It is when I go to the city, 65km away, I may see another farang. -
Britain Must Confront Global Threats: New Defence Review Lead Warns
billd766 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I was posted to RAF Seletar in August 1968 where I met some mates on my acclimatisation day which I spent the afternoon touring the Tiger brewery in 19 minutes and the next 1 hour 41 minutes slurping down free Tiger draught beer. I got posted from Seletar to Tengah in March 1968 and was due tourex in January 1971. They were looking for "volunteers" to extend until September 1971. I decided to go back to the UK and was extended until the September anyway. We must have been there around the same time. quote "Singapore was a great place back in the 70s for a young guy. I loved it". I loved it too. -
10% of Thais Engage in Heavy Drinking, Report Finds
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
But you are not forced to drink it in one night. A long time ago when I used to drink, many guys had their own bottle left behind the bar, marked at the end of the night, and it was still at that level the next time they drank there. It all depends on the bar owner and the bar staff. If you complained that your drink was less than it should be, or it was watered, the bar would either replace the bottle with the same amount. Alternatively you would move to another bar. -
Wise wants lots of id stuff
billd766 replied to gargamon's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I had something similar back in 2018 when I opened my Borderless account with Wise and nothing since. The seems to be a few posts complaining about Wise lately for some odd reason or another. -
Britain Must Confront Global Threats: New Defence Review Lead Warns
billd766 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Both Labour and the Tory politicians are to blame for running the military down starting with Duncan Sandys back in 1957 https://www.britannica.com/biography/Duncan-Edwin-Sandys as minister of defence. Harold Wilson in 1968 along with Denis Healey https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_of_Suez#:~:text=In January 1968%2C a few, well as the Persian Gulf In January 1968, a few weeks after the devaluation of the pound,[1][8] Prime Minister Harold Wilson and his Defence Secretary, Denis Healey, announced that British troops would be withdrawn in 1971 from major military bases in South East Asia, "east of Aden", primarily in Malaysia and Singapore[12][13][14] as well as the Persian Gulf and the Maldives[15] In addition to that, UK politicians have committed more UK military to conflicts world wide from the ever decreasing UK forces and only now seem to come to the realisation that recruitment is down, retention of the military is down and the well of people and equipment is running dry. IMHO if the politicians of whatever party is in power at the time commit the UK military asseis to somewhere, they will find that there are no longer any assets to commit. There will not be enough boots to put on the ground anywhere. As an example, the Royal Navy has only 2 aircraft carriers. One is in the Red Sea and the other is covering the rest of the world. What will the government do when one carrier id due for a major overhaul, or worse still, needs major battle damage repairs in the UK, or even the worst case, it is sunk? It is not as though you can build, equip and man one and then train the crew in a couple of weeks. -
10% of Thais Engage in Heavy Drinking, Report Finds
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It could equally have been said, according to the report, that 90% of Thais do not drink heavily. Of course if it had been put that way nobody would have reported it and it would not have been featured on AN as click bait. -
I did a transfer from my Wise borderless account yesterday using the long term stay in Thailand as the reason. An email sent by Wise told me that my money was on the move and that it would be in my Bangkok bank account at 2:13 pm today. Their timing was off by 12 minutes, as BKK bank sent me an SMS at 2:01 pm telling me me that the money was there, just the same as every other transfer I have made this year, arrives in my account around 2:01 pm plus up to 3 or 4 minutes. The exceptions are if the bank is closed for a bank or public holiday, when it will arrive on the next bank working day.

If I take anybodies advice on AN about stuff like this, It would be from you only. There are so many "experts" here giving advice on a multitude of subjects that I cannot be believe that the majority have the slightest idea what they are talking about. When I get the time I will contact the various banks personally and get the information from the horses mouth as it were, rather than accept and rely on other peoples advice who have actually never stuff like this. Thank you once again for your useful and helpful advice
-
Thank you for that very useful information. We have a joint account at KBank. My wife and our son have separate single accounts at the same bank branch. I have a single account at BKK bank for my visa income and I also have another at Wise UK where my pensions come into and are transferred to my BKK in Thailand. I will ask the BKK branch what they will need on Friday and I will also talk to Wise to see what they need when I die. My (frozen) state pension dies with me but my wife will get 50% of my other 2 pensions that will be sent to Wise. They will also die when she does. I am 80 and I am trying to tidy up my financial affairs whilst I am still around and also while my brain, memory and body are still working.

Trump Rally Shooting Alarms Ex-PM Thaksin Shinawatra

But it will be a Martian affiliated to the Democrats and supposedly President Biden's "alleged" crime family. The gop of course will demand a senate enquiry, during which Comer will call thousands of witnesses and come up with nothing at a vast expense. -

And Trump must be a very brave man to set himself up in that position, to be shot at and miss death by literally only a couple of inches. -
Trump Rally Shooting Alarms Ex-PM Thaksin Shinawatra

Really? And naturally you have proof of this. So back it up and post all your proof here, on MSM. on Social media, not forgetting to send a copy to the FBI, the US police force investigating the assassination attempt, plus the US secret service pointing out your reasons. Of course if you cannot prove it, then your post is nothing but BS. -
Really? According to the BBC news website, this https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c3gw58wv4e9o "State voter records show that he was a registered Republican, according to US media. He is also reported to have donated $15 to liberal campaign group ActBlue in 2021. He had a membership at a local shooting club, the Clairton Sportsmen's Club, for at least a year. Law enforcement officials believe the weapon used to shoot at Donald Trump was purchased by Crooks' father, the Associated Press news agency reports. Speaking on condition of anonymity, two officers told AP that Crooks' father bought a weapon at least six months ago." Perhaps you should revise where you get your news reports from.

Do you know and understand how much and what paperwork is required when you change from a retirement extension tp a marriage extension. The fact that you need a Kor Ror 2 document thay attests that you are genuinely married. Do you have the originals and the certified translations of your marriage certificate from wherever you were married? It isn't simply a matter of writing marriage instead of retirement on the TM 47.

Up to you. For me however, if I had listened and believed in every rumour that pops up on AN, I would be a nervous wreck and I would probably never want to get out of bed. As I said in an earlier post, if you want to know what your local Immigration really want from you at the time of your extension, go and ask them. If you don't agree with what they tell you, you can ask to speak to the supervisor, If you still don't agree, it is supposedly possible to make an appeal to the Immigration head office. I don't know anybody that has done that. quote "By the way when I told them I won't show a certificate (40Euro) in the future because they can see money transfers from Germany they insisted I still need to show every year a certificate". They always refuse your application for an extension if you don't want to follow their rules. There are a fixed set of rules issued from Head Office, but there is also the provision within those rules for the IO to ask for extra information if he feels the need for it. I can only speak first hand of the Kamphaeng Phet office, some 70km from where I live, and that is the one that I have used for probably the last 10 years, certainly since it was opened. I have had a good relationship with their front office staff, but they have all retired or been replaced, so I have to start from scratch with them again. From years of experience gaining extensions, I have found if you keep them happy, they will keep you happy.
