In Lamphun I was harassed by many dogs till I carried a piece of that blue water pipe on the bike. Just waving it at them works a treat. I never got close enough to actually hit one. Carrying a few big stones in the bike basket works as well. Don't even have to throw them.

I have a gazebo and it has no welding anywhere. The steel poles are all joined with strong plastic devices. Sounds like the ones you bought are cheap Chinese junk. I live in an area with frequent storms and strong winds most of the time, and my canopies last about a year. If leaving them up it's necessary to put ropes across all sides to stop them flapping about too much. Adding some extra tie downs stops rain pooling.

I think it's because so many officials need to be chosen and approved to be ready in time. A peculiar US custom. In more sensible countries, those people are permanent bureaucrats and just carry on regardless of which party won the vote. Obviously they can't be selected before the election.

To know look to NZ under that woman PM recently. She was all the above and she did immense damage to the country, while she was in charge. Her vile legacy will live on for decades if not forever.

It was certainly traumatising and I'm not over it. Scarred for life, mentally as well as physically. There was zero post op psychological support. I think not enough consideration is given to the effects of major life changing surgery. These days people get psychological support for losing their pet cat, or seeing a car accident, but back then there was none.

It was done while I was in the UK working for the NHS, so it was done in an NHS hospital. Because they had contractors to clean the hospital instead of their own cleaners it was filthy. Nurses didn't even clean lockers in the evening, which is something we always did in NZ. I will say though that while the post op care was lacking, the pre op testing was excellent. I had every test possible done and didn't cost me a penny. Before anyone moans about foreigners getting NHS treatment I'm a dual citizen and was there under a British passport.
