  1. From Al Jazeera. The article explains why israel's last ground invasion of Lebanon ended in failure for the IDF. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/10/2/repeat-of-2006-why-israels-ground-offensive-in-lebanon-wont-be-easy The goal set by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a familiar one: ensure that Hezbollah can no longer pose a threat to Israelis, especially to those displaced communities which the government aims to return home. But analysts say his government may be underestimating the group’s ability to fight on home turf and the risk that Israel could end up bogged down in yet another protracted war in Lebanon.
  2. There is always a way. https://www.smh.com.au/politics/nsw/hezbollah-themed-flag-not-an-offence-police-arrest-man-for-displaying-swastika-20241006-p5kg7o.html Dozens of protesters held green and gold flags, the colours associated with Hezbollah. One person was seen holding a yellow and green flag showing Ned Kelly clutching a rifle. It read “our boys in green and gold will win”. “The legal advice we’ve received at the moment is that that would not fulfil an offence,” said McKenna.
  3. The stupidity of over reliance on modern technology, which can fail for a great many reasons, just one of which is the example here. How difficult was it to envisage such a situation and keep technology that works available in sufficient amounts? Too difficult, apparently. The military have radio technology that doesn't depend on cell towers, so why are they not being used to counter the communication problem? Too difficult?
  4. I have to assume you would prefer no cops, or those of the hand holding Kumbaya singing variety. When dealing with vicious criminal scum one needs more than the laughing policeman to deal with them. I live in a country where the previous government had a policy of "going easy" on criminal thugs and gangs, and it's not looking good now for the law abiding.
  5. Not so, according to the New York Times. Half of a lot is still a lot. Still launching missiles and able to repel the israeli ground attack- the lack of israeli celebrations indicate that the ground invasion is not going well. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/01/us/politics/israel-lebanon-hezbollah-airstrikes.html Israel Has Destroyed Half of Hezbollah’s Arsenal, U.S. and Israeli Officials Say https://www.jpost.com/breaking-news/article-823188 Since start of ground op. in Lebanon: IDF attacks 2,000 targets, Hezbollah fires over 550 rockets
  6. Trump isn't the topic. Your obsession is showing.
  7. One is amused by the verbal antics of the Harris lovers that have to have realised that they were sold a pup not once but twice. One can only imagine the language they'd use had it been Vance that "misspoke".
  8. One can only hope. Mind you, I was saying from the start that he would be a disaster.
  9. IMO that is not the issue. It would be a convenient excuse to investigate those about whom they have suspicions of illegal activities. If people don't want to be investigated, don't break the law, even if it's only smoking weed. Law abiding citizens have nothing to fear on that score. Anyway, if she is a good parent, why is she smoking anything? Did she and he abstain for her entire pregnancy?
  10. In the US you don't have to do something to be found guilty of doing it. Strange society, IMO.
  11. Everything is speeding up. Roman empire lasted centuries. The British empire a couple or three and seems that the American age will be over in less than 2 centuries.
  12. Given the accusation of trolling goes both ways and I can't be bothered with posters that resort to insults over reasonable replies, you can join my ignore list. Bye.
  13. I had breakfast at Mad Dog a few times. Seemed OK, though very average far as restaurants went.
  14. Because the US is ( or rather was ) a capitalist country. To be like you want would make it a socialist country, and despite the best efforts of the liberals, it's not yet that.
  15. Given how unattractive some Thai BGs are now, it's an act of charity to actually give them money to be in the same room as them, regardless of what they do there.
  16. They'd have to pay me to listen to Oasis songs, whatever the guitarists nationality. The only time I've enjoyed having some mediocre musician(s) intrude on my dining was in Sri Lanka, where the band was the worst I've ever heard ( even worse than the musicians playing in a Thai Bar Beer complex ), but the singer had an illuminated bow tie that rotated. Fascinating.
  17. I would expect that Mexican culture would be influenced by Spanish heritage and US "white" culture would be influenced by British culture, but IMO American culture has very little resemblance to British culture now. US humour and British humour are in no way similar, IMO.
  18. Despite the obvious bias of the article, 47% is not insignificant. Given that cashless means surrendering your money to a phone company and the government, only fools, IMO, think it's a good idea. Once the cash option is gone, it's Chinese type total control of the population. Still, it's obvious that many in society are sheeple, and willing participants in their own subjugation. Baaaah.
  19. You have that in common then.
  20. I wasn't aware that Palestinians have been blowing up israeli houses with people sleeping in them, or that Palestinians have been ransacking israeli shops and homes. Do provide proof if they have been.
  21. Not killing women and children would be a good first step.
  22. Supporters are irrelevant in an election. He has to convince the undecided to vote for him/ her to make a difference. If he can't present himself as a viable POTUS if the need arose, it's not looking good for him and by association, her.
  23. Some truth to that. Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, and they didn't even win in Korea. They can't even win a proxy war in Ukraine. However, they did great against Grenada and Panama.
