  1. Hi, sorry if this is classed as threadjacking but I was going to start my own thread and then saw this one and thought I would tag along.

I am glad I am not the only person who has problems, in fact I am yet to find a bra in Thailand that fits properly, possibly because I don't understand the sizing. In the past I have relied on sales girls recommending sizes only to get home and find I can barely get the thing on and when I do it is not at all comfortable. I am a UK size 34c, does anyone know what size I should buy in Thailand?

  2. I bought an 8 month old honda click last year from a finance company, it was a reposession and I paid baht 23,000. I am really happy with it and would recommend it to anyone. I'm sure you can pick up a similar bike if not a bit older for 15-20k.

  3. Good luck, I have an extension as a dependant of my husband who is on an extension based on retirement, it has been a painless experience for us the last two years in Jomtien, If you are a British subject the British consulate will check your paperwork for you free of charge (they are just up the road from the immigration office in Jomtien) this may be worth doing as it is your first time, they just check you have everything you need and put it in the order that the immigration officer prefers. Last month we were in and out within 15 miinutes with a slip to collect our passports the next day.

  4. Well, good new everyone - panic over!

Another neighbour came to visit me about an hour ago with a thai lady from the next soi, it seems the kittens belong to her cat who has about 5 other kittens so the reason why she dumped these two is still a mystery. But they are now reunited with their mother and they started to feed with the others when I put them there so hopefully this story will have a happy ending.

  5. thanks so far everyone, they have made it through the first night and are much more lively than when we first found them, we are feeding them a milk and egg mixture as advised on one of the links but I will go down to the vets shortly and get some milk replacement.

The mother is still nowhere to be seen, she is not my cat but a stray I know her and have seen her many times when she was pregnant but I don't believe she has an actual home. I will keep you updated.

  6. My neighbour has just called me and showed me 2 new born (I think less than a day old) abandoned kittens in her garden, she came home at dinnertime and the mother wasn't there and hasn't been back since. We have fed them some milk through a syringe and put them in a box with a blanket and teddy to keep them warm, they are still in the spot where we found them but if the mother doesn't come back soon we think we will have to bring them inside and try to care for them. The only thing we can think to do is to keep them warm and try and feed them, does anybody know what else to do? I don't want to let them die if I can help it.

  7. I'm not sure if anyone will be able to answer this question but after reading the list of immigration areas I checked my address on the proof of income letter I got two weeks ago from the British Consulate in Pattaya, the last part of my address reads Amphur Sriracha, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chon Buri.

The way I am reading the list of immigration areas this means that I can continue to use the Pattaya immigration office as I have done previously. I would be very happy if this is the case as I have always found them much easier to deal with than Sriracha. But as I only live 10 minutes away from the Sriracha office and 30 minutes away from the Pattaya office this doesn't make sense to me.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

Barry Kenyon obviously made an error, as Sriracha and Banglamung are both amphus in the province of Chonburi. I would go see Barry again to get your actual address straightened out, before you go to Immigration.

    Barry

Hi, on Monday morning I called Barry Kenyon and queried my address, he advised me that this was a small technicality and would not make any difference to my visa application. I then asked him about the enforcement of using your local immigration office, he advised me that as far as he knew I could use the Jomtien office because I lived in Chon Buri.

So yesterday morning I went to the office in Jomtien and renewed my retirement extension within less than 10 minutes (not including waiting time)

no questions were asked regarding my address, or anything else for that matter. The whole process was even easier and more straight forward than last year.

So I live in Amphur Sriracha and renewed my extension yesterday in Jomtien, two days after the new rules were supposed to come into force. The staff at Jomtien were very efficient and helpful as usual.

  8. The address I gave to the consulate was A.Sriracha, Chon Buri. The address on the letter reads A.Sriracha, Nong Prue, Banglamung, Chon Buri. I didn't take a lot of notice at the time as I was planning on doing my extension in jomtien anyway. But when I read the post about the enforcement of using your local office I thought I better check it out. I will go to see Barry Kenyon in the morning and post the results here.

  9. Has anyone successfully obtained a retirement extension at Sriracha either using the income option or the combination option?

I have previously read on this forum and heard from various other people that the only option that Sriracha immigration will accept is the b800,000 in bank for three months. This is not an option for me and I have previously used the monthly income of 65,000 baht at Pattaya immigration for my first extension but due to the new rules it appears that I will have to go to Sriracha.

My renewal is due at the beginning of May and I would like to hear some first hand experiences before I approach them.

I also believe that they still require a medical certificate which other offices do not, I would appreciate any advice on this.

    Many thanks in advance.

  11. The op has not comitted a criminal offence, if any sort of court proceedings are involved it will be a county court judgement, which is completely different, this does not involve anyone standing in the dock and defending themselves, all that happens is the creditor submits a form to the court asking for judgement to be issued, if the debtor does not pay or arrange a reasonable offer of payment each month, the court has the following options:

1> Attachment of earnings - deduct money from the clients salary each month, would only be possible if debtor was working for a UK employer and the debtor is not required by law to disclose their employer

2> Instruct Bailiffs to visit home of debtor (as previously said would need to be an address in England or Wales)

3> Apply for a charging order if the debtor owns any property in the UK - for a debt of £6,000 this would be highly unlikely anyway!

The op has nothing to worry about - the lengths these debt recovery people will go to just to try and frighten people are disgraceful!

To the OP: Listen to the positive advice you have been given, you have nothing to worry about!

  12. I have a friend who is currently living in the UK on a two year settlement visa which expires on 24th January.

She is currently in Thailand on holiday with her ten month old baby and is scheduled to fly back to UK on 11th December.

As the airports show no sign of reopening soon we are becoming increasingly concerned about when she is going to be able to get back to the UK.

Worst case scenario what would happen if she didn't get back before her settlement visa expires? Would she be given any sort of 'grace period' due to the current circumstances or would she have to stay in Thailand and apply for a settlement visa all over again?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

  13. Thank you john b good, I had been told by more than one person that there was one so may be it closed down.

Oh chiang mai, I have been to chiang mai before more than once but was driven round by a friend which is why I say I don't know my way to anywhere.

  14. Hi, could anyone tell me where there are any ice rinks located in Chiang Mai, with detail if possible I don't know Chiang Mai at all but am planning on taking a trip up there after christmas, any help would be greatly appreciated.
