Our dog has the monthly injections, which have worked well but just this month and despite keeping up with the injections, she has had loads of ticks. Could be the season I guess but we are going to keep her in our yard more and not let he play with the neighbours dogs like she used to each morning.
Ditto.........still getting ticks from our garden.
That's a huge part of the problem. I use to have 3 big dogs when I lived in the they US. Fleas were all over them. Dealing with the yard was the only way to take care of this problem.

We had massive problems with tics. Haven't seen one in months now. We hired a company to spray the yard every month and use Front Guard every month. We also don't let the dog roam around freely any more. Only in our yard.

My wife just responded to a thread running on a social media site which talks about Russian troops having landed in California. I'm assuming it got started by the recent report of incursions by air, which were turned away. Amazing. These people actually believed it!
-
I would also think this is due to the public backlash. It's been massive. My wife's been following this on the social media sites. The PM's previous comment was the navy needed to do a better job convincing the public these were needed. Makes sense.

Because they violated forum rules. Specifically, the one prohibiting troll posts.

Think of the source. The Chao Phraya river. I'd hate to think of what's been dumped into it. Including chemical waste from upstream. Think of the credibility of the local government. Then, consider how well maintained the pipes are from the water plant to your source. One small crack can let all sorts of nasties in. Some 600 recently got sick in Rayong from tap water. I'll stick with the bottled water.

I only know of 1 store in that area, probably more though. It is on the sea side of Sukhumvit as you are headed to Rayong from Ban Chang. About 1/2 way. I can't give better directions. It's just ok.
Even here in Pattaya, there really isn't a good second hand store, IMHO, no great ones in Bangkok either. You might want to try the ones in pattaya. One on Sukhumvit, where Thepprasit ends, East side of Suk. Another interesting store is just south of the floating market, same side of the road. Huge guitar outside.
Most places sell cheap, new guitars. I got mine through a friend. Maybe check out the Thaivisa classifieds, baht and sold, Craigslist?

After touring the Vatican, my wife's comment was "it's good to be the Pope"!

I think it was near 8 million died mining silver in Potosi in Bolivia, many for the Spanish. I was there about 10 years ago.

An interesting article to read for becoming compliant. If you're on the up and up, seems quite easy and painless to become compliant. It's those who've tried to avoid paying taxes that are in trouble.

A decent place to research car rentals is the links at the top of the Thaivisa forum. Pretty good aggregator of fares.

PowerBuy near Big C Extra on Pattaya Klang has a pretty good selection of kitchenware. Might be worth a look?

How do you get rid of stray dogs in this country? no dog pound only temples!
The local authorities normally deal with stray dogs. Near my house, South of Pattaya, I saw a group of workers stunning and rounding up strays on the beach after complaints by locals. Great stuff as they were really causing problems.

Some great info here. Thanks to all with the great replies! Being a recovering ex-tax accountant, I hate this stuff! 5555

If your marriage is not legal, then agreed, your partner does not have to worry about this. FACTA is only for US citizens.
Seems Europe is heading down this same road soon. The law, IIRC, is primarily oriented towards money laundering. And of course tax evasion. ;-)
As an American citizen, this law has absolutely no impact on me at all. Maybe 10 minutes of my time every year.
-
I'm pretty sure factta has been adopted by the UK also. Maybe the EU soon also?
-
We need to be careful here. FACTA or not, it is a requirement for US citizens with substantial penalties for non compliance. Financially, for many of us, the tax implications of compliance are very minor. Not worth the risk, imho.
Forum rules do not allow discussion of illegal activities. With all due respect.

Not trying to be rude, but most selfie sticks I've seen have been wielded by Asians.

September's the height of the rainy season. Max humidity, sorry to say. I've seen my humidity guage hit 99%!

Selfies aren't the problem. Travelers have been doing that since the invention of the camera...though tripods were used back then. ;-)
Mass tourism is the problem. I just saw RT tickets from London to Bangkok for around $500. And of course zero dollar tours don't exactly bring in high quality tourists. The world has become a very small place now. For better or worse.
Am in the Baltics now. Way too many tour groups! Insane.

I've had 2 pickpocket attempts. One at the port in Manila, one on the subway in Madrid. The guy in Manila unzipped my cargo pocket and got my wallet. I was talking with some friends and just happened to swing my arm around to point to the exit. Mid swing, I caught his hand, wallet and all. He just let go and walked away...so quickly, I lost him in the crowd. This guy was good. Never felt a thing.
The guy in Madrid wasn't so good. Jacket over hand, he tried to open my zip pocket. I totally felt it and moved away. He didn't give up, came close again for another attempt. Had to literally fend the guy off. Disappeared immediately as the doors opened. People were yelling for the police, but no luck.
I've witnessed many attempts, many were in Paris and Rome. They aren't shy!
