  1. The one thing I didn't see anybody try was to reverse backwards. seeing that its forward movement was what caused the rear wheel to drop into gaps at the edge and jam his lower suspension on the tracks. and is there a phone to contact the signal box? What hurts more is that cctv was watching, but, nobody was watching the transmission and radioing the train driver or changing the signals.

Bang Kaew is a particularly nasty breed

I have one , sure she can be stuck up, but, loyal and a great snake attacker. She watches over my daughter and wife (wife hates her and they run round the cars my wife chasing her) But the dog is never far from them looking out) She is also loyal protector of the neighbors gardens (her area) and will always join the kids playing. The have small mouths but, very sharp teeth. Lives in the garden, Barks at strangers, moves on soi dogs, who run past her area, except lead dog who visits once a day, they greet each other and moves on. And howls a warning on snakes, and attacks them if they hang about. But, I agree any dog that attacks people is swiftly dispatched, own or not! The other dogs ain't stupid and become aware of what will happen if they do, otherwise they do a great service in keeping vermin both 2 legged and 4 legged versions out of the area. Mind you our village doesn't have many simple folk living in it! Finally if our dog ever bit/attacked a person to cause injury, We would have her put down.

  3. Let me assure you the Thai teacher in small community has a lot of sway. hopefully they will act correctly as long has both students are known. I am assuming the the motorbike is fairly new. if it is an old banger, then things may end up as a handshake, both licking their wounds. if newest than go for it! otherwise you will I am sure get a Big C bargain as the kind person you state you are to the family? You have nothing to lose in supporting them at the meeting.

  4. Firstly the motorcycle should by law have third party insurance. Secondly if he is underage, check for driving licence... none means he is at fault no matter the reason. Threaten a lawyer to take to court unless they agree to purchase a new bike. If they disagree (unlikely) start to walk with their full details...call their bluff. Stating we have nothing to lose and can wait. hopefully they will walk away with cash for the cost of the bike, or give go with you to the shop to buy. keep smiling and no shouting or raised voice or become angry. Check out Big C they have bikes for around 500 - 1000 baht that would be a great way to bring the matter to an end plus no insurance they pay costs. or just except new bike from Big C. If insuranced it covers medical expenses if there is a police report.  be there support and at least act as if you know the law file with useless papers and the photos, of injury and damaged bike will have them on the backfoot right away!

  5. Alot of countries are doing this, When I went to Saudi this year to work, I received an insurance policy with the visa.  But, word of warning. It should have an e card, or actual card to use if you require to use. Contacted supplier and haven't heard back. not sure if this could become a problem with Thai medical, luckily I am and have been paying in the Social security system in Thailand for many years so covered!

  6. Thailand operates like customs, green and red channel. Only a fool goes through red channels. The odds of getting pulled going through the green channel, rely on the ability of the officer to sense something is wrong or  having any interest or having known knowledge before hand.(grasses). (The dogs help if in the right place). This is how immigration works for most ordinary citizens. Most light European and American citizens. ( mind you they love a English speaker of Asian/African looks 10.000 baht for a months holiday and staying with friends with British or US passports shouting that they are a British citizen blaa blaa!

  7. All filings on any immigration form should go into the database record related to the person filing, no matter which TM form that has been filled in. I would assume many local offices don't file them as it would require a lot of keyboard work. It would make more sense to issue every long stay with a card ID (pink ID) that could be swiped at locations, But that is a long way off for Thailand! Isn't it?

  8. Well they haven't done any fining for the past 15 years, or comments on my travels. And on the TM6 card it states my home address. and the address that I own with my wife which was done when we brought it as required by law, it is jointly owned as a married couple. So perhaps the rules may be different. than someone with rented accommodation being classed as tourist. Never ever been asked or inquired about it except when registering in the village had to take headman once, over twelve years ago.

  9. That hits the nail on the head. I think their concern isn't for European expats, Australian, or USA. Most of us run simple normal lives happily. Bar a few tattoo drunks hanging around certain areas and perhaps a few vocal old gits. They are after the slimy under bellies from countries south of the med and nearby middle eastern and other Asian countries. and this is blown up as the vocal old gits decided that"you talking about me!' attitude. have prodded the wasps nest a bit too hard. So they are flying up to sting anybody in the way!

  10. I have never told immigration that I am going away, On exit from the country to work they have it on computer on my return in the address section I write going home and my house in Thailand. On the way we spent two nights in Pattaya, the hotel register that I think? after two days unless they receive another hotel record, They should assume I have gone home as no record of departure is recorded of me leaving the country. If they want to know for sure then they are welcome to phone or call round (unlikely.) I don't speak to them and they don't speak to me. As now I prefer to attain one year multi entry for married man out of the country, as I can't show large sums of money sitting in the bank having wife ,daughter and cars to support! Pay taxes, insurance and social security on time every time. If I visit friends for the weekend or a week, Don't speak to immigration, so they must assume I am at home, and they have family telephone and Email addresses if they are concerned about me.

  11. I am wondering if to have set your cruise control at the gps stating of 120 for a stretch of road and later you drive past a obvious temp sign plant on the side of the road stating 80kph then receive a fine letter stating you were over the limit of 90kph. then what are they thinking? The stretch I am talking about is on a dual carriage way, no schools no work in progress etc. a money maker yes, but, legally does a change in road speed have to be published /requested on legal documents, concerning the matter except when emergency repairs or accident require it. As it is also in a different district, my local copper stated, let them try and enforce, they don't help us and we sure as hell ain't spending our budget on it, and just let them drive into our country without full written permission, they wont get it. As for revenue refusing to tax your car, 1, they will ignore that! 2, change the ownership to your wife, when you have the Tax change it back. This is the Thailand way!
