  1. Another thing you will be able to do is to join the social security scheme, 432 baht per month, giving you access to free hospital/dental care ( I would have to pay 12,000 baht every 3 months for my check up otherwise) and towards a pension pot, only 115 more payments and I am entitled to a monthly pension, or I can take a lump sum.

  2. Don't have to carry your passport, I use the ID card instead. It is proof that you are a long-term residence, shows you are legal, The number show BIB what your status is, and is becoming more and more relevant. For 50 baht, you are dealt with prompt in and out within the hour. and does show you are not a tourist and gives you cheap rates, even got my own finance for my new car without needing the wife. It is in my name alone.

  3. What about just rotate 65k every month into a Thai account and withdraw into another Thai account do that every month and then a bank statement confirming 65k in each month, there is nothing to say it has to remain in the account? it is for spending each month to live, or does it have to be proven it is coming from abroad then you could at a small cost jump back and forth from a PayPal type of account based not in Thailand.

was informed by immigration at Hua Hin main office three days ago that 65000 is not acceptable unless accompanied by an Embassy letter and only 800000 will be accepted with the usual three month proviso

It's not three months, but 60 days, and that is written in the official rules, I think it has been twisted by certain officials, and for marriage extensions, it is wise to leave it in the bank for the following 30days while the paperwork runs through the system. I understand in the past they needed to check the marriage might be a sham, but how much paperwork do they need every year is ridiculous, The same map, photos etc., its time they got their computers linked, but when they change the heads of offices so often, each with their own ideas it becomes stressful wondering what next they want. I think after 5 years of extensions, there should be a fast track system. Now we are issued with Pink id's, pay tax and belong to the social security system and can have HP in our own name plus name on the deeds etc., its time to give us some official status.

  5. Always use Thaipost service, 99 percent no extra charges, and until a few years ago DHL wouldn't deliver up country or would charge extra and use local delivery companies until Kerry started treading on their toes! Why buy from Japan a second-hand backseat? there are seat repairers here who can easily rebuild a seat in most fair size towns in Thailand.

  6. I am sure the Thai AF doesn't have any heavy lift A/C over C130 and on seeing flight of 10 Blackhawks #00kms north of Bangkok, plus a small flight of Cobra type heli's 4 of them, Thailand I think has 2? near Lop buri. I am certain that would have to be the full amount or too many owned by the Thailand. Plus the paint scheme for the Thailand isn't the same as USA? plus combat style dark markings. The USA may not have a US base here in Thailand but are sharing facilities, They are certainly here. Udon 2 years ago shopping big C,  US marked Pick up parked alongside and two low ranks in uniform got out and went shopping! Seen regular heavy lift parked  (northern end and take off s from U=tapho.

  7. The companies mentioned deliberately charge customs fees so it is a win win situation,  for customs was to check contents, which is very unlikely, even more so if it is in a Thai's name. They are covered, if not, they keep the money. If the value is under a certain limit there is no charge. But, the best option is to send it by normal ems post, You are 90 % certain never to get any charges. Or excess on your flight using the handling agent at the airport.

People interested in doing this either do not have the time available to season the deposit correctly, or do not have anyone who will lend them 800kB.

Obviously, anyone with the time and the cash would just do the extension himself in the normal way for 1900B. Like I do. Contrary to some comments in this topic, this is a very easy and simple procedure and I have never had the slightest trouble doing it many times.

Me too! 12 years have been doing it myself, this year the first time I had to borrow some of it! A few situations over the years mainly changing office, with one year having to travel to NAN, got there and missing one document, but, officer changed me to a 'B' Visa save travelling the distance, and to cover for the time to another change of office to Phitsanulok, followed by a 3 month row with them, and then a few years of immigration deciding their own rules of 90 day deposit. The last few years (since Junta) normal rules and 60 days isn't a long time, to reduce spending and waiting, no excuses to try and 'bend' the system. Knowing I don't have to grease the system, makes me feel safer! plus now the whole service never takes more than an hour. Last year was also the first time I was given finance in my own name without wife having to sign to buy a car, so borrowing should become easier for many!

  9. Why would it need a payment for the Immigration officer? If you borrow the money to put in your account for the 60 days. you show the office you have full filled their requirements. and you return the money to lender plus interest payment...job done.  Have house or land or car that will do as a deposit ..the papers. Or if you have a wife and family they can get the money from several legal sources including banks and deposit her gold. for 3 or 4 months. I know, had a short fall and have just done exactly that last month. or perhaps you have a friend who would be willing to do that at? Monthly interest rate for 50,000 is around 345 baht per month for pawn shop. the 'green' bank less.

  10. I think those men who have married a Thai and moved on to another Thai woman have already proved that their decision making isn't very good. For them paying sin-sod is part of their bad decision making. For most of us who marry continue in the relationship through many problems. That doesn't mean we haven't sampled the other fruits of Thailand, but, the commitment we made to love and care for a partner for ever, is something we remind each other all the time when the pot is boiling. and a few days or longer and life continues. We don't pack up and leave. The grass isn't any greener, elsewhere as you will find when the green grass turns just as brown and worn after its been trampled on for a short while! Its stays greenish when you you give it time and care, plus the greener grass is just for laying on for a short while to be enjoyed now and then!

  11. Personally, if the main thing on your wife to be's mind is dowry, perhaps it would be best to extend the courtship for another 6 to 12 months. Just to be certain that she really does care for you and not just the cash!

  12. My wife of 16 years, told me I wasn't to pay sin sot, as she had been married before and had a child, so, she is a free gift! and you know its rude to return gifts, so, no refunds for the return of faulty goods!
