  1. Interesting image Thais have of their police, isn't it, with this idiot thinking that claiming to be one gave him the right to demand others buy him beer. Anyway, yet more 'unusual' experiences for tourists to enjoy as they holiday in the land of smiles.
  2. If the fine is only 500 baht then 'nasty perverted foreigners' might think it worth the price to be able to sunbathe. At least they aren't police selling drugs or drunk drivers or killing relatives over some triviality. Which culture do the outraged netizens prefer, I wonder.
  3. Okay. But maybe tourists isn't the right term. Those who stay for months and months are more like part-time residents. But then, immigration does have difficulty with terms - retirement extensions for those who don't have to be retired, permission to 'visit' your wife, for example.
  4. Nothing to do with the drunken id!ot driving white sedan, then, he's free to go? Stupid comment. Both are guilty. Or do you think it's normal and acceptable that a kid should be out after midnight dealing with road carnage? He must be great in his classroom next day.
  5. Agreed. The flights are not LAX or SFO to CNX. More brilliant reporting from The Thaiger's outstanding journalists.
  6. Is there any crime that the RTP are not involved in? Maybe pimping. I don't remember that happening. Cue story on AN next week about policeman found pimping 13 year old boy/girl.....
  7. I doubt that many tourists visit the immigration office. Most are here and gone within a couple of weeks. Why would they 'fill' immigration offices?
  8. If that is what you consider to be first class service then that is up to you. I didn't. Depends on your standards, I suppose.
  9. I agree with this 100%. It's got to the point now that if what I want to watch doesn't have subtitles or I can't find them to download (very, very rare) then I simply don't watch. And it isn't ears growing old. When I watch old tv series there is no problem understanding.
  10. Or maybe they were coming towards him driving on the right and he swerved to avoid them? Hmm?
  11. Would these be the e-cigarettes openly on sale on Sukhumvit, which are openly used by countless Thais women at Bangkok night clubs?
  12. It starts to seem as if Thai kids are totally out of control. Hardly a day goes by without reports of fighting, bomb-throwing, assaults, firing guns. Maybe TAT can spin it as making the country more exciting for visitors. "Come to the wonderful family friendly resort of Pattaya and witness for yourself gang fights on the pristine beach', for example.
  13. Just more corrupt behaviour from Thailand's largest criminal organisation.
  14. Perfectly normal in Thailand with ho-one seemingly able to join the dots. Such as if we advertise on-line then the police might see it as well as potential customers. Unbelievable, but we see it all the time.
  15. There's a reason for the H and S rules, but people complain about them all the time. Don't have them though and .....
  16. Lucky for her. But if the son was mine I'd have told him to get ******. Typical Thai male entitlement, bowed down to by the mother. Pathetic. And we've all seen or read of the result.
  17. Such an admirable culture. Too lazy to do their job, too ready to take bribes, and people may die as a result. But no-one ever cares about that, do they. That isn't the priority.
  18. I was once booked on United to fly business class to LA and the flight was cancelled. As I lived in Bangkok I declined the free hotel room offer. Back to the airport next day, cancelled again. Now here's the thing. They said they would transfer us business class passengers to another airline (I think from memory it was EVA). Sounds good. But I thought to myself, how does the alternative airline have enough business class seats to accommodate us all? And of course it didn't. United had 'forgotten' to tell us we'd be downgraded. I went to the EVA (?) desk to check and went back to United and said I was on to them, and instead they put me on Korean in first. That went okay, but when I asked for a cup of tea during the flight they brought me a cup of water and a tea bag. In first class! That still wasn't the end of the story. I knew I would lose my frequent flyer miles as I hadn't flown United, and that was their fault and not mine, so when I got back to Bangkok I went to their office and saw the boss, who agreed to give me the miles. Sometimes you have to have your wits about you with the airlines.
  19. There have been other cases recently of someone killing his son for slamming a door, and another of someone stabbing someone to death because he turned off the wi-fi he had allowed the murderer to piggyback on from next door. Life here means nothing at all.
  20. 1 - what has a boarding card got to do with possible overstays? 2 - everyone already, Thai and others, have to show ID that matches their boarding pass 3 - how does showing a passport show overstay, unless airline staff are now being trained to check through every page to check the passenger's status? 4-will flights now be delayed while airline staff trawl through every page of a passport as in 3 above? 5 - is this a poorly written article and in fact checks will be made when you check in, not at the boarding gate?
  21. But where would you find the teachers?
  22. True. Bangkok has a much larger population than London and New York (11 million compared to around 8.5 to 9), but trains in those cities are up to 12 carriages long.
  23. Just another instance of someone being murdered over nothing at all in the land of smiles. There'll be another tomorrow, I'm sure.
  24. Up to them. Their country. Their culture. Their lives. No-one really seems to care if people die here, whether it be on the roads, on building sites, in factories. Ensuring safety anywhere is simply too much work. Aren't we due another nightclub inferno soon? Because we can be 100% certain that, a week after the last one and safety checks were ordered, it was all forgotten and countless places are still open with blocked or no fire exits, no sprinkler system, no safety measures at all.
