Unlicensed vet accused in Nonthaburi pet death scandal
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I have little doubt that a vet I used to use was unqualified, after he gave us anti-tic injections to administer to our six dogs. I checked the box and instructions before we used them and found they were for horses and cattle, and a brief Google revealed it would have killed all of our dogs. And he did know it was for dogs. -

It would be if there weren't so many, for immigration purpose", fake marriages around. So French ladies have a succession of African husbands for humanitarian reasons. Watch "Green Card", a good French/American movie. I doubt there are many foreigners involved in fake marriages for the pleasure of staying in Thailand. Again, it's surely the other way around.

There is a very good reason that Thais need to jump through hoops when they travel overseas. They are known for saying what suits them instead of answering truthfully. Strangely, in the UK and my very first job many decades ago, I was told exactly the same about Irish people when they applied for National Insurance cards. Certain nationalities have a reputation for telling porkies.

Opinion It is time to abolish the death penalty in Thailand
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Nor is there a place for the people who commit the heinous crime that led to their conviction. If they have so little regard for the life of others, why should we have any for them? -
Motorcycle Altercation Leads to Assault of 16-Year-Old Girl
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
He accused her of turning without signaling. She probably didn't like being criticised as she's perfect and lost face, so instead of saying sorry she escalated it. The guy should have just walked away then, but we all know that violence over the smallest thing is just below the surface here so bam! -
The freedom to move: how Bangkok is improving its sidewalks
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
As well as repairing what is there, they need to also remove all the street vendors from the path and all the things that block people outside stores. And actually provide somewhere, anywhere, for people to walk other than in the road in countless side Sois where you are in danger of being run down. In that regard, Bangkok is truly a Third World city, because the place is so poorly designed that there is no space in those side Sois to separate traffic and pedestrians. Of course, get rid of the sidewalk vendors and people howl about the character of Bangkok being sanitised, like they did in Singapore. But anyway, whatever they do in that regard is pointless as they are back again within weeks or even days. It's not like it hasn't happened before. Make a law, enforce it for a week, ignore, repeat in a year or two. -

I have a friend who has travelled the world with his wheelchair, and he told me that Bangkok was, by far, the worst city he had ever been in for the handicapped. I've read over the years that Thais care little for the handicapped as it is believed they must have done something bad in a previous life to deserve their situation so in turn deserve nothing now. -
BREAKING NEWS US tourist brutally stabbed to death in Phuket hotel

which would involve money. Nothing appeared stolen, as belongings including a laptop, iPad, two mobile phones, and 6,000 Thai Baht in cash remained untouched. -
Seems to me that the father has taken responsibility, as far as he can for someone not directly involved. At the same time, it's a pity that he hadn't been a better parent and known what his son had in his bedroom. But parenting and discipline isn't a strong point in Thailand, is it. And clearly the law needs to change and anyone who commits a crime, especially murder, faces the legal consequences.

If you've mixed with Indians, which I doubt, you've clearly chosen the wrong kind of company. I've holidayed with an Indian friend I called Turbie and Turban Top (couldn't get away with that in these PC days, but he didn't mind), I've been invited by an Indian boss to her home for dinner, I shared a house with an Indian family and I've had Indian colleagues. I've not wanted to avoid any of them. I wonder what Indians would say in response to your racist remark. Maybe that they couldn't think of a worse experience than staying in a hotel with you. Can you tell us why you would find staying in a hotel with Indians such a distressing experience? Thanks.

Early in the year they said the wet season would be drier than usual, for the same reason. Instead, where I am it was the wettest in the 10 years I've been here. So I'm looking forward to a deep freeze and no need for aircon or even a fan until around next March. -
Popular DJ Brutally Murdered Over 3,000 Baht
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand News
Been plenty of tales on this site of people being killed even for 100 baht. Or for slamming a door. Or for turning off the wi-fi. Or for having a new partner. Or for looking at someone the wrong way. Or for stepping on someone's foot. Life means very little here.
