Pattaya Man Killed in Horrific Motorbike Collision
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
But but tut - they're illegal aren't they? And so the ever vigilant traffic police pull such cars over and fine the driver and impound the car until the windows are changed, and they also arrest whoever fitted the illegal tints. Don't they? -
Pattaya Man Killed in Horrific Motorbike Collision
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Local residents in the area expressed their concerns about this particular thoroughfare. They mentioned that accidents frequently occur on this road, resulting in several fatalities and serious injuries. They would like to request relevant authorities to install traffic lights at the entrances and exits of the alleyways to prevent further loss of life. Or people could learn to drive more carefully when pulling out of side turnings, or speeding along a major road. -
Highway Collapses on Sukhumvit Soi 64/1 in Bangkok [video]

What has this got to do with the report of lorries caught up in road collapses? -
So having a bit of a laugh isn't a positive? A little satire here and there to lighten up otherwise serious issues? I see no harm in this, either intentional or indirectly. Life getting too complex for you in your old age? I guess the Buddhism Office doesn't see it the way you do. But the problem is infinitely wider than this, isn't it. There is no certainly that any picture you see now is real. I find that very disturbing as that doesn't only apply to pictures such as these - which I think are excellent, by the way. Because AI makes it possible to not only allow photos to be manipulated or generated by computers, but for someone else's voice to be used on any video, even to the extent of the speech being in a different language with the lips syncronised to fit. You can even have dead people talking and answering questions put to them. There was Johnny Cash 'singing' 'I'm a Barbie Girl'. Amusing, but not everyone would use the technology for fun. Whatever the human race invents, it quickly turns it to evil ends. Take social media, for example, and the huge numbers who mis-use it to send death threats and abuse to others. You could have Joe Biden saying that Vladimir Putin should be chased down and executed, with it looking entirely real. I guess you're okay with all that, though. Either that, or you don't see the bigger picture.

Thai Singer Faces Reckless Driving Charges After Accident
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
The injured employees were sent to the hospital for alcohol and drug tests. Why? Especially when evidence from CCTV near the crash site indicate that the garbage truck was stationary when Wahn's car, traveling in the far left lane, collided with it. I suppose the garbage men could be charged with being drunk while stationary, if the singer is important enough? -
This is actually a serious problem, begun years ago with Photoshop. Nothing we see now is necessarily real, and I see no positives in that at all. None. Just because we can do something doesn't mean we have to.

Thank you for your comments, and for apparently taking so much time to read through my submissions. We'll just have to agree to disagree about whether advertising an illegal business, which the law here might see as human trafficking (it isn't) on social media is a really, really stupid thing to do. You appear to claim the girl isn't stupid as there might be extenuating circumstances and that she, as an employee, might have been doing what she was told to do. I don't think so, so we'll have to agree to disagree on that too. I asked you what you base that point of view on and I assume it is nothing, because that was your response. The views you put forward concerning me are that I have a very shallow attitude, and I have narrow and ignorant points of view, yet you accuse me of getting personal against you. That's funny. Kettle black. No doubt the mods will be along shortly to remove our comments.

Chinese tourists are returning - but not to Thailand
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I confess that I misread what was in the link. My apologies. Still, it's always better to read an accompanying article, instead of asking a question and admitting that you are asking as you 'don't feel like clicking for the full article'. You want others to do the reading for you and give you the answer to your question. Dude. -
Dead body of American man found in Chao Phraya River near Bangkok
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Why do you assume that? They found the US passport, which includes emergency contact information. Officers would also report the death to the embassy so they can contact the family and relatives of the deceased. Would. Can. Not past tense. Seems clear enough to me. Unless it's another poorly written article. And you are assuming, without proof, that the deceased filled in the emergency contact info. I myself am assuming a person does that manually, as I do with my UK passport. -
Motorbike collision tragically claims young Thai worker’s life
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Chiang Mai News
Thais have unique driving skills. A car went through the top of a tree opposite my house, and they appear to be particularly skilled at overturning 18-wheelers, something we would really struggle to do. Thais don't. Just think how good they'd be in a circus. No training required. -

4 Hurt As Ambulance Jumps Red Light And Hits Pick-Up Truck
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand News
And the drivers there proceed with extreme caution through a red light. The only time you see someone driving with extreme caution in Thailand, going at 30kph, is because they don't know how to drive and have no licence, or are drunk, or both. -

So they've named him in the media before informing his family. Umm. -
Maybe because the police file the case in the waste paper bin? The victim’s grandmother said she filed a complaint at Waeng Noi Police Station in Khon Kaen and Bangkok Yai Police Station in Bangkok. However, the officers have not provided any update on the case. Suay reported that the police have not even questioned the victim in the investigation.

Apparently not. According to another thread today, although places can stay open until 4 they can't sell alcohol after 2. So, like non-alcohol days, I guess people will just have to stack their table before 2. More evidence that Thailand is a lunatic asylum. “Every private sector shall follow the laws, especially, the extension of opening service of entertainment districts to 4 AM, but it does not mean that selling liquor beyond prescribed legal hours: 2 AM.

I've read several times that Thailand has, based on population, twice the number of gun deaths than the USA. The difference, and the reason it isn't highlighted, is that in the USA there are many mass shootings - an average of two a day was reported recently - whereas most of those killed in Thailand are domestic disputes - despite guide books spouting how close Thai families are. Within a short distance of my house we've had a brother killing his sister and a wife killing her husband.

Ah. Just a simple suggestion from me to begin the thread about how to get around having to pay YouTube develops into handbags at dawn. How wonderfully predictable.
