  1. There is an airport -Patong bus ( for now)

Once ur in Patong rent a motorcycle ( but not from the beach road) 150-200 baht/day

If we had baht bus's like Pattaya and no jet ski's most of the hassles for tourist would end

No disrespect, but baht buses are not the answer; I've lived in Pattaya for 20+ years and ever since I bought my first car here they're my enemy. It's a good idea in theory but there are waaaayy too many of them. Last count I heard was around 700-900. Basically, since they're run by certain men in brown uniforms they have total immunity if they do anything wrong....and believe me they do a lot wrong. If you hit one because he's suddenly stopped in the middle of the road to pick up a farang, it's going to be your fault, not his for driving like an idiot. I agree with the jet ski comment though, same scamming problem here in Pattaya.

And rightly so. It's your responsibility not to follow so close that you cannot stop in time no matter what.

Point taken........hope you never hit one and you think you're right, good luck trying to sort it out with him and his "friends".

  3. I've got a pug I bought in a market over here, never again! He's had health problem after health problem; looked fine as a pup and I didn't think about an inbreeding problem at the time. Can't say his health problems are all due to inbreeding, but have owned dogs all my life and this one by far has the most problems. I'd go for a street dog IF I was going to get a dog again; lots of different genes from different dogs. I'd steer clear of any pure breeds over here unless you know the breeders/owners extremely well. It's too easy for them to get two pure breeds and keep breeding and breeding from the same family.

We spend about 55 baht a day on food, but it's the vet bills that have been enormous.

I know the OP just asked about costs but thought I'd give you some advice in case you were looking for a pure bred.

  4. In my 20+ years in Thailand this subject comes up over and over and over. I don't believe in the double price system so I just don't go to the places that do this........simple really. To the people who say what's the big deal(?), it's such a small amount; I can afford to go to these places, no problem, but it's all about if you believe/not believe in the "principle" of things. To me the principle of the thing is everybody is entering the same area and looking at the same things so should be the charged the same price. If my Thai wife is in my home country she pays the same price as I do anywhere we go.

They don't have a slogan of "Amazing Thailand" for nothing, I'm always amazed here.....sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a bad way!

  5. I recently got a one week extension on a 30 day tourist visa. I made a mistake and went one day late to get the extension so had to pay one day overstay and get the overstay stamp in my passport. Immigration asked when I was leaving the country and I told them seven days from the day I got the overstay. Now I'm not sure if I'll be leaving in seven days due to my company not getting my ticket to me in time to go to work. It'll only be one day and at the most a couple of days overstay.......again, but just curious if they just fine you again at the airport or are there other consequences for back to back overstays. I'm sure I'm not the first to do this and sure won't be the last, but was wondering if anyone else has done this before. Obviously if I was going to stay more than a couple of days I would leave the country and come back in on another 30 day visa, but it's not really financially viable to do this........unless I'm going to get arrested at the airport.

Before anybody says it; I know it's illegal and I know we're guests in this country and should abide by the law. I normally don't do this kind of thing for obvious reasons but circumstances out of my control caused this to happen.

  6. You do have a purpose......although I thought my life was pretty ordinary, you've just made me realize my life is awesome! Thanks for that!

Maybe reincarnation will work for you.......better to get started ASAP. Don't forget to make lots of merit before you go so you'll have a less s****y life next go round!

  7. Just thought I'd update this post with some info. I just got back from KL and was granted a one year non O multi entry based on marriage. For those not wanting to troll through this whole thread; the original poster was only issued a single entry even though he had all the required documentation.

I went to KL with all the required documentation and a bank account with 400,00 baht in a Thai bank. I also showed a bank account I use on a day to day basis which has a monthly deposit of 120,000 baht, but slowly dwindles down until the next check arrives. In the past they have never looked at this day to day account and have always just given me back the info; this time they kept the account details. Also, as the original poster stated they give all the info to a Thai man in the back and approx 1/2 hour later you get called back to the counter to receive your receipt. I think they are now checking whether all the info is valid--bear in mind this is only my opinion. In the past the lady at the front counter checked through all the info and made sure all was correct.

I was issued a multi entry with no problems, although the lady at the counter did question why I wanted a multi entry. I explained that I still worked and needed to leave/return to Thailand every 5 weeks. A few years back a friend of mine getting the same visa didn't have the letter from his wife asking for them to grant her husband the visa; he got lucky and they asked him to fax it to them when he got home instead of refusing the visa because he didn't have it. I always take more documents than needed because as stated on another forum; it's a long/expensive way to go if you're missing some piece of documentation they want.

I'm not sure why the original poster wasn't issued a multi instead of a single entry.

Forgot to mention that they also asked for my original marriage certificate instead of just a copy, which they never did before; luckily I had it with me.

  9. I thought about this years ago but my wife told me Thais think of turkeys as pets so won't eat them. I guess if you find a falang market for your product, no problem but don't think there's a Thai market for them. And before someone mentions about the dog eating up north......I know

  10. Good to hear this as I'm about fed up with True. I've used them for many years only because there wasn't an alternative, but now might be time to take my business elsewhere. Judging by the lackadasical attitude by

most of their office workers they won't care if business walks out the door

    anyway.......TIT

  11. I've also done this same visa at KL for many years with no problems. I work a timeon/time off schedule and was just wondering if a letter stating that I work offshore and need to enter and leave Thailand frequently would help; or is it closed to disussion? I remember about a month ago a poster said once he convinced the staff that he neded to go in and out of Thailand frequently they gave him the multi entry. Maybe it's changed for good now and it's no longer available?

  12. Does anyone have any experience with Thai voodoo, not using it themselves but girls using it on someone else, particularly males? The reason I start this thread is I have a friend--and myself somewhat, that I think might be influenced by voodoo. My wife believes in it but doesn't use it as she thinks it will come back to her--in a bad way. Plus, I give her a very good life so she doesn't feel the need for it. She was the one telling me about this friend of ours, her boyfriend and voodoo. Supposedly this girl has gone up north on several occasions to get this voodoo in order to keep this man with her and to keep the money flowing. I don't normally believe in this type thing but the circumstances have got me thinking seriously about it now. The guy is doing some things that are totally out of character for him. He was always a rational person but lately isn't thinking straight and it's causing him to behave very differently. I also think differently around this girl, I keep my thoughts in check but some of the things I've been thinking are not anything I've thought before. Before posters start making assumptions; I've been married to the same lady for 20+ years without a problem, but when around this other lady I feel something strange. Just wondering how people feel about this.......if you've had any dealings with it? I know lots of Thai ladies believe in it and use it.

This girl has a sister that used it on her husband also--whom I knew, and he changed somewhat also during the time I knew him. His wife admitted to my wife that she was using it on him. Another thing is I've known this lady that uses the voodoo for many years but have always thought about her a certain way--friends of the wife, until she started with the voodoo. I know something like this is subjective and hard to prove, like religion.........but we won't get into that.

  13. From my experience, and a friend of mine also, that in addition to the paperwork mentioned from other TV posters you will also need a letter from your wife politely asking if the embassy could issue you the visa. My letter explains my work schedule, my wife's Thai ID number, my passport number, and why I come to Thailand. Admittedly I always get the visa in KL and not the embassy you're going too, but a pretty expensive letter if you don't have it. My friend didn't take his one time and they made him fax it to them when he got home. It seemed to be pretty important to them.

  14. Thanks for the info SurfRider, I'll check into making some of the cheap alternatives.

I'm not sure what Biogents trap you were looking at on YouTube but all the models I've checked into only use a scent attractant that mimics lactic acid--which is the same as the human skin produces, or Co2 gas, not sure where this gas would be available in Pattaya but need to check before I buy the trap--if I buy one as they're not exactly cheap and you have to keep buying the attractants. I don't think mosquitos are attracted to an ultraviolet light, only Co2 gas which is expelled from humans breath.

  15. Does any one know anything about Biogents mosquito traps? It's a company out of Germany that sells these traps worldwide. Just curious if they work. Looking at their website the product looks pretty good but just wondering since the traps use some kind of attractant do the traps actually bring more mosquitos into the area than there would be without the trap. Pretty obvious that it would attract them, but guess I was just wondering about the range it works in; don't want to draw in more than are already here.

  16. Does anyone know if it's possible to obtain the one year non O multiple entry visa based on marriage at Jomtien immigration office. I currently hold the above mentioned visa but have always got it in KL; someone has told me it's possible to get it at Jomtien, but I strongly doubt this information. Just curious if it's possible before I spend money/time going to KL again. Thanks in advance.

Some points before the armchair critics get involved:

I know I can go down there and ask myself, but I don't want to waste hours just getting info...YOU might be the person in line behind me waiting on me to finish (I don't think they need more people in line as it's chaos down there at the best of times).

I realize it sounds like a stupid question, as if it was possible a whole bunch of people would be doing this instead of flying out of the country to do it, but a friend says it's possible so I thought I'd ask.

I tried to search for this topic using the search feature but couldn't locate anything about it.

    Thanks
