  1. how I can put a bike in my name? It's a 2000 250cc

I have the green book, tax and insurance etc is paid until september.

I have a year's non=O visa, and the house rental agreement. I can get the 500 baht form. I live in Chiang Mai

Do I need documents from the former owner?

He's american, lives in chiang mai, bike is now in his name in the green book, but the bike has rayong plates.

I have a letter from him to say I bought it.

So do I have to go to Rayong to transfer to my name, or plates ?

Do I have to take the bike to Rayong?

Or can I do it in Pattaya?

Or can I do it all in Chiang Mai?

What more paperwork do I need?

I was told at the registering office in chiang mai that I need a copy of the owner's passport, visa, work permit and housing contract. Is that true? He's out of the country now

  2. The courier service I would trust most in Thailand is DHL.

Hope you get it without incident because not reporting it lost will probably negate any insurance against wrongful use, leaving you vulnerable.

    I see.

I guess I can call the debit card company and ask them what's best, to be on the safe side.

  3. There are idiots everywhere. They aren't so happy when I stop and smash their windshied with my tire iron though. I don't accept people taking risks with my life.

You'd be taking a risk doing that, Ian.

In the West you would be arrested. And in Thailand not to be advised . And if you tried to be Mascho with a Thai, well................

Your posts are usually more thought out.

He would be shot dead on the spot where I'm from...either from one of the occupants inside the vehicle or by someone else who had no idea why he was doing that.

    :)

Maybe if you ride a motorcycle then you'd understand what the tire iron is for next time someone tries to kill you

  4. Please excuse my question... wasn't that card canceled and is still valid?

I don't want to cancel the card , I really need it.

The store called me to say they have it

I am just wondering if I can go to a post office and get it picked up EMS or express,

or are there independent companies like tnt, dhl, fedex that are any good

  5. rubbajonny, cool bearcat avatar

I stopped to see a roadkill snake in Laos, still wriggling, and while I was taking fotos a pickup stopped,,threw the snake in the back and drove off.

    some more unidentified snakes here

    including

Is there generally anything snakewise to worry about, riding through muddy puddles?

  6. Its an Asian Viper , they get a little bit longer but much fatter than the young snake in the Photo . This snake is agressive and DEADLY , take care .

I better keep it out of that puddle then, I've stepped in it several times, and almost dropped the bike in it a few times

  7. here's the best shot I got of the head.My camera wasn't focussing well.

I've seen snakes hanging around in puddles before, but I've only seen vipers in trees and bushes

thanks for the link garry, scary

bites, is an aggressive snake and advances very quickly
  8. Not sure, but the shape of the head means that it could be a viper.

    Be careful with that one.

    I don't think it's a viper.

the head wasn't quite like a viper, and it looked so flat,

also the tail looks pointy and the eyes were dull

but I don't know much about snakes

I thought of a water snake or maybe a flying snake

Though the frog it was eating seemed dead after, so I guess it's a bit poisonous

BTW,whats the crest in the cranmer on your avatar?

  9. Please can someone identify this snake for me?

    Is it harmless?

It was in a puddle, eating a frog

About a foot long, yellow underneath.

Flattened itself so looks broader from above

I'd ridden through this puddle about 50 times

  10. Hi, I used to have insomnia, and tried most things.

You can get Xanax here, over the counter, (some places), they work great mostly

Otherwise you might try zorpidem/ambien/stilnox, but you'll need a prescription

{unless you go to Phnom Penh or Vientiane)

I have read that some people have sleepwalked, sleepdriving, sleepsex etc with them,

but it's never been a problem for me

    and they're non addictive

  11. I want to calibrate my barometer/altimeter on the gps.

I believe I have to calibrate both because they are dependent on each other

thanks for the link, I'll look at it.

    ~

    Current conditions, Chiangmai Airport

    Trust the guys

    Who fly the skies...

Can you tell me if I have to be at the same height as the airport to calibrate my altimeter/barometer using their data??

    No.

    It doesn't matter how tall you are (height);

    Your elevation (i.e on a mountaintop);

Your altitude (as in an aircraft)..

If you are within a reasonable distance from the airport, say 50Km, the barometric pressure will be closer than you would care to question anyway. Assuming of course that you are setting an altimeter?

If not, check out this link

  12. in the thai embassy Vientiane I meant to aply for a multiple entry tourist visa, but forgot and filled in the form normally, so I got a single entry.

SO if I go for a day trip to nong khai then back to vientiane, will I have to use up my single entry visa?

And will I need to buy a new $35 laos visa at the border?

And will I be able to obtain a multiple entry tourist visa at the thai embassy free of charge?

Also, anyone know what happens with the fees after 4 June?
