There never was and will never be a two state solution, anyone who knows anything about this issue knows that. Not without outside intervention. Israel will never allow it, the Jewish demographics are not conducive for such solution. about 14% of the israeli population is ultra-Orthodox. Why is that significant? the birth rate of Israel is 2,9% a bit over 2.2% nessacery to maintain a stable population . But the Ultra-Orthodox birth rate is 6.5%, remove that from the equation and you have a declining population. So the secular, and centrist population is in decline, and the Ultra-Orthodox is growing. It is estimated that by 2062 the will comprise 1/3 of the population of Israel. And that and other reasons my friend is that there will never be a two state solution and that it is all smoke a mirrors. If I know it, you can bet that the Palestinians know it. They are not stupid people. And certainly . Hamas is not stupid. They do not have a chance against Israel and by extension the US in symmetric war. They have two options, Fight an asymmetric war, or lay down and die. No different that what any of us on either side of this debate would do if faced with a similar situation.
