  1. If I have one rule I try to live by, it's DON'T LOSE YOUR TEMPER!

Unfortunately, Thailand does offer me plenty of opportunities to break this rule. But I am learning to bite my tongue and smile. It makes for a sore mouth but an easy life!

If you had ONE piece of advice to help farangs through day-to-day life out here, what would it be?

Believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see . :o

Believe nothing you see, and only half of what you hear ^^ :D

  2. Yes yes it is terrible. Of course if the Thai guy had swerved into the brit, then most on this post would be decrying the Thai culture that allows drunken yabba smoking somchais to ride bikes at all.

Maybe he was murdered due to a land deal or other biz with a Thai person, or perhaps his wife poisioned him, thus causing the crash.

    :o:D:D:D:D:wai::P

Thai culture that allows drunken yabba smoking somchais to ride bikes and speak on the phone at the same time !

  3. Merriam-Webster online lists no English words spelled with aa, and they list only one obscure geographical French word.

    --> which one,please, I am curious.

    Paaris, Straasbourg, Maarseilles ?

  4. Amazing! Considering all the Brit bashing that goes on on this forum we only rank bottom place in one category. The French are league leaders in two categories and mid table in a third and nobody bashes them (well we Brits do but that's a historical thing and done in the best possible taste).

Even the Russkies, with all their mafia stuff, are only a couple of places above the relegation zone and only for fake credit cards.

As with most things in Thailand there is some truth in there somewhere. As has been said, anything that deflects the blame on to others is a worthy enterprise.

Has it occured to your beer clogged brain that the coutries were listed by alphabetical order ?

    :o

  5. If you guys don't like the idea, then just keep your comments to yourselves and move on somewhere else !

I share the will to cross thailand from one end to the other too. With different transportation, so what ? Rather cross it on a iron buffalo than staying in office, and seeing nothing.

Good luck for your trip, Hank, I'm sure you will have some fun !

  6. Thailand, Saudi Arabia bid to repair strained relations

If labour relations between the two countries improve, the Labour Ministry has a clear policy to send only skilled Thai workers to work there and would not encourage nationals to work as labourers because the kingdom still faces a shortage of unskilled workers, Mr. Supat said.

    is that a joke ?

  7. dam_n that sounds good ! Too bad the date's not suitable for me, but if you guys are opened minded enough to let a KKer in, I'd be happy to join next one !

--> I'll be following Isaan forum for more...

    Enjoy the gathering ! ! !

  8. Any other people that like to explore and take photos in the kk area ? I live over by the university, have a scooter and nice dslr that I like to explore/take pics on. Looking for other laid back people to go out in the country with.

Hi, I just moved here 2 weeks ago, and even though I've been here a few times before, I'd be happy to discover the area with a partner !

I plan to bring my motorcycle back from bangkok next weekend.

I send you an email with my phone and more personal infos.

  9. For a bit more people-watching, there is To Die For in H1 Thonglor, on the outside couches

I'm not going out out that much any more, but been to that place a few times, and found it quite pleasant. Primarily because finding a piece of a garden becomes less frequent in bangkok.

Relaxed and friendly atmosphere, warm smooth lights, prices ok for the kind of place.

  10. Heroin addiction is its own death sentence.

So is alcohol addiction, shall we hang all the Berwery owners, all the pub owners, all the governments that benefit from the tax, all the users of Alcohol ?

Of course I'm exagerrating, yet Alcohol abuse causes so much suffering in this world, just look at all the Alcohol fuelled violence in the world, rapes assaults, kilings, the list goes on and on.....

    Why is Alcohol legal ?

As you already mentioned it is a nice income for the government.Besides not all people who enjoy a few beers go around raping and killing. Are you a reformed beer drinker?

As was said before, not all heroin users do harm either :D

Please, enlight me and make my day :

--> How the taxes perceived by the government may in the slightest be used as a justification to let go freehanded all the harm that alcool does ? "We get money so we close our eyes" ? :o

    Sad, very sad...

We will never say it enough :

Alcohol abuse causes so much suffering in this world, just look at all the Alcohol fuelled violence in the world, rapes assaults, kilings, car accidents, fight, beaten children/women/men, broken families, broken couples, british sex, the list goes on and on.....

    Why is Alcohol legal ?

There is no moraly sound justification.

  11. Never seen any here. I am experimenting a green roof too, and have opted for a mix of Agaves, Kalanchoe and Cactii. They spread like misery, and are very heat resisatnt. I guess they can handle the hot months : march to june, even if that means that they won't look too fresh for some time.

Do you actually have soil, or do you use another support for your plants ?

It's a bit off-topic, but I would be interested if you have any info on waterproofing (wich materials do you use, for which cost).
