Very very good idea to invite Putin! Please don't tell anyone, mostly not the PM as he is not aware of it, but as Thailand is a signatory to the Rome Statute of the ICC our Thai guest must be arrested upon is arrival in Thailand! perfect! Thailand will save many lives of young and less young Ukrainians!
the agreement is not ratified therefore no arrest

in other words, the ICC is obsolete as is the UN and their non sense security council.... back to the drawing table then
there will be no arrest Thailand has Not ratified the rome ageement nor will they becuase if they did the ICC will go after Thaskin for war crimes

The ICC would expect an arrest of a Head of State be made by the Head of State which is not PM Srettha.
Thailand is a kingdom.
The legality of such an arrest has never been tested, memorialized with ICC principles or successfully prosecuted despite decades of discussion.
My impression is that a majority of the international community of states are reluctant to endorse arrest of a Head of State which might become more a political act than criminal prosecution.

If the election results had been honored and Pita hadn’t been railroaded so he couldn’t become PM, then probably yes. With Shretta (i.e. Thaksin) at the helm, not so much.
Thailand being foolish again Pita was Naive but far better than this guy

People forget that Thailand has been part of the non-aligned movement since 1993. That means it is not supposed to align itself with one country or another against others. Hopefully, it wont get dragged into a war between the USA and Russia, or the USA and China.

Quantifying the evil of dictators can be a tricky business. Most would quantify the horrors of dictators by how many people were killed under his rule. In that case, there were several dictators worse than Hitler.
Mao Zedong - Communist dictator of China - 25–30 million died.
Josef Stalin - Communist dictator of USSR - 30 million died.
Leopold II - Colonial leader of Belgium - had upwards of 20 million Congolese salughtered.
At this point the numbers vary between Pol Pot, Saddam Hussein, Kim Il Sung, Idi Amin, Ho Chi Minh. Anywhere between 1–10 million range.

I lived in Moscow for 3 months and never met a single Russian who didn’t like Putin. I expected grey concrete and soldiers with AK 47s everywhere and never saw one, just like I didn’t see endless tent cities and drugged out homeless so prevalent in the USA. The coming demise of the US dollar spells end of empire time for the Good Ol US of A and maybe quite a few other so called western nations. Time to stop watching the garbage pumped out by the likes of CNN.
Maybe, just maybe, this Sretta guy is shoring up a more secure future for Thailand in the grand scheme of things.Bobolyne philosophy

How clever is our PM. Invites a known criminal to Thailand and then has him arrested and he collects the reward. Or does he share it with the 90-day visa escapees avoiding conscription? Well done PM.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted an invitation to visit Thailand, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin wrote in a social media post, a day after the country announced an extension of the visa-exempt stay period for Russian tourists by two months.Thailand’s new PM made the announcement on Tuesday after meeting with Putin in Beijing where he extended the invitation to the Russian leader, who faces an international arrest warrant on the world stage over alleged war crimes through the conduct of his war in Ukraine.
“I invited [Putin] to visit Thailand, and he nodded in appreciation, saying ‘Thank you’ in Thai. This shows that he has a good familiarity with our country,” Srettha said on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter. He noted that Putin has visited the Thai tourist town of Phuket several times.
The two leaders met on the sidelines of the Third Belt and Road Forum meeting, which China is hosting.
