  1. oh, I don't know. being a member of the elite whom they're always talking about here in Thailand. I admit to being prejudiced somewhat, in suggesting that the parents should be sent back to parenting school. ????
  2. do you remember where I can locate the ''how to'' (in plain English by a TV member) ? Ive been doing it by EMS post, since for ever. would like to bring myself up to date. tia.
  3. Lucky you. IO lost our EMS's posted (late Sept) 90 day reports (incl EMS SAE). I had to drive 200km to get new Notifications, which they retro-actively back dated . Never mind.
  4. cant wait - Emelie Blunt has been on a roll for a while. Just watched Gods Country its got a few minor flaws in the characterizations. but a beaut of a film, great performance by 'Thandie' Newton.
  5. this is a bit off topic, to the movie you watched. But there was (2014) a terriffic Brit mini tv series called 'The Honourable Woman' starring Maggie Gyllenhaal . (sp?)
  6. that is a thoughtful response. thanks. unfortunately, there was no signal, just outside, i have German friends who want to rent also, in Feb. The Romanian friends are a bit worried by this whole thing. It will blow over.
  7. Hindsight is 20:20 isnt it? according to the resort owner, the bungalow was supposed to be empty.
  8. You could not make it up: I was checking out a bungalow resort for some Romanian family/friends to visit Thailand for Jan + Feb. i visited the bungalow Oct 30, took some photos and agreed on the deposit and the rent. My friends wrote me and asked could I check the internet speeds. So yesterday, I called the resort owner, suggesting a specific time I would to revisit the same bungalow, that I could do speed tests. He said ok - go ahead and visit at an agreed upon time. unfortunately, he didn't tell me the bungalow was now occupied. after a friendly introduction, to the tenants, I did my speed test, asap. the tenant followed me outside the bungalow, where i was trying to do a 2nd speed test. he went absolutely ballistic and attacked me (not a big deal, I just got knocked to the ground). after this, altho' i never touched him, he seems to have fallen and 'acquired' an unexplained skinned arm. he is taking me to court. what i need to know is, how long did the speed test take. ? is there a way to check this? this was a misunderstanding resulting in insanity. ( I would consider someone as a little bit insane if they threaten to kill you, in several different ways, in front of the interviewing officer at the police station.). It is a matter for my defence that this ''gentleman'' was unprovoked in attacking me.
  9. basically, it is one piece. no attachments. also known as a sherlock. there are lots of colour changing ones for sale overseas online, like esty.com. I'm hoping to score a plain glass one, which would be available here in Thailand. as overseas orders occasionally disappears at customs, according to friends. tia
  10. I guess your g/f always wants the latest iPhone too - just joking. ???? .
  11. Bad Sisters. 5 of them. Irish. very sharp production, from Apple TV - a witty black comedy mini series 8 episodes. set in Dublin. You may need subtitles to understand the actor (son of Brendan Gleeson) playing the Insurance man character.
  12. I quite enjoyed it's dystopian angle. we're not far off that world. while i think of it, currently enjoying a slow viewing of American Gods, season 1 and I know there are 2 more seasons to go. Gillian Anderson surpasses her rep. (much as she did in The Fall) .
  13. ''difficult to follow''. 555 try Slow Horses. i love these British miniseries with sly story-lines . Ive been told The Outlaws is good.
  14. again, excuse this, for being off topic: annual 800k fixed deposit ahas come due at SCB. They offer .4% - and their max. term is 12 months. Insane (but normal for Thailand - guess who owns the majority of the banks equity). Can you direct me to a resource that quotes multi year rates. ? That 1.1% quoted earlier sounds a bit more attractive. 2nd part of my question is, do deposits at banks like Land & House 'Bank' qualify for the Retirement Extension,?
  15. cant wait. currently watching the EU joint financed series ''Criminal'' not new, but I just discovered what I think is Season 2 (UK) and also a fine German production of the same series (excellent dubbing, by the way). 2 episodes per country.
  16. I am switching from leaving 800k on deposit to receiving monthly transfers from Denmark, which will be large enough for me to qualify, under the retirement rules. My first transfer request from Nordea Bank Denmark is proving to be difficult. (let me ignore their requirement for an electronically completed transfer request) . Having done that, and having entered 'living expenses' as the purpose of the transfer, Nordea now wants me to send them one of the codes published by Thailand on a form titled '' Transaction Purpose Code for Thai Baht Fund Transfer from Non-Resident Baht Account to Resident Account'' . Before I screw up my transfer, has anyone had to use this code form ? My choice would be ''Medical Expenses''. Thanks.
  17. another recommendation: this a joint EU production, from Luxembourg, with decent Engish dubbing: 'Capitani' just finished the 2nd season.
  18. if you liked that, you'll probably like 'The Old Man' <snip>
  19. Laura Linney (I'm a big fan) comes into her own, in Season 2 or is it 3 ? Stick with it, bro'
  20. That's what I meant when I wrote ''fans'' I meant fans of LeCarre's style. gettit? Focussing on the tv mini-series; it is very well done, imho.
  21. movies: Spiderhead (semi-sci-fi) :Belfast tv: The Last Kingdon (Netflix) superb history based drama 5 seasons mini series : Godless (Jeff Daniels is awesome); : The Defeated season 1 ( season 2 not released yet) : Damnation : Slow Horses (forJohn Le Carre & Gary Oldman fans )
