What is it with foreigners thinking it's OK to have public sex in Thailand. I'm sure it would probably be prison time in their home country.
Prison time? Are you from Saudi Arabia?

Not pretending to be a saint in this department, but some tourists seem unaware that (the real) Thailand is in fact a quite conservative and traditional culture. If you get the urge then maybe try to do it out of sight and in a less public place..
Such as far out at sea?

Just how many Thai people are there touring around and acting like wannabe paparazzi.
It seems like everyone wants to be the one to post a viral video of foreigners engaged in public sex and they’ll go to extreme lengths to do it.There are moral standards that foreigners should observe. And then there are peeping Tom voyeurs who go beyond the norm to look for amateur porn.

I've been living in Chiang Dao for 11 years. Made a move last month for the kids. Some years were ok, some horrible. 2016 when our daughter was born, was one of the horrible. It didn't rain a single drop from December (2015) to June. Normally the smoke problem goes away with the rain, so if it rains every month it's not that bad (equals or even better than CM city if you can call that not that bad).
What I would like to see is a study of impact of fertilizers and other chemicals widely used in longan orchards and corn fields. But that's another wide topic and not the one here.
It's really sad for the place as it's really nice outside of these smoking months. Nature is "still" preserved and the mountains are beautiful. Lot's of birds, wild orchid and insects. I've seen a lot of weird things I had never seen before even having spend some time in Amazonia. And the cold season that was always welcomed. How nice to sleep under a blanket at 15°C !
We will go back for the Christmas holidays to get that cold feeling !
May I ask you : do you smoke ? do you drink ? 😉
Any other irrelevant questions you want to ask?

not sure where you live but I have checked the 2.5 levels in my part of BKK over the last 8 months and the number of days it is within the WHO level of safe can be counted on one hand. I walk 6 km every day, wearing an n95 mask (google if you don't think they are safe and read the test results) and I seldom see others walking/jogging wearing a mask and some ask me why I am wearing a mask - their response when I tell them the 2.5 micron level they reply but this is outside! Pollution and capital cities is not a new phenomona - I have lived in many and doctors always told be if I was to exercise outside then I should wear an n95 mask!
Is it fun?
maybe choose somewhere with better air quality

“According to Assoc Prof Chalerm Liewsisakul of Chiang Mai University's Faculty of Medicine, the last decade has seen a notable deterioration in air quality in the region, correlating with an increase in lung disease cases.”

Probably not. Understanding it may be an issue though

Brits are way out in front, out of sight. The rest are jostling for second place

lol. In other words China is doing its thing and Thailand is clinging to its coat tails.
FFS, Thailand can’t even make use of its satellite allocation, let alone boldly go where plenty have boldly gone before

The first time I agree with this <deleted>, I say beat them to within an inch of their lives then put them on a plane with a lifetime ban! Making it hard for those of us who know how to behave themselves.
Quite right. Start off with that toss bag who was joy riding on Kamala beach in his car. Oh wait, turned out he was Thai. 1k baht fine will do.

Xenophobic hate of foreigners is a current bandwagon that is easy to hitch onto. It distracts from government failure to address major issues, such as air pollution in Chiang Mai, inflation and, in Anutins particular case, the issues raised by unlicensed cannabis use.
Providing a common enemy that everyone can rail against, provides a useful distraction.

Nobody ever said Farang.
An asian tourist was blamed.
And it was an Asian tourist from Bangkok.
“Foreigner condemned for driving car on Kamala Beach in Phuket; PM blasted for saying cannabis policy yielded bad results”
this headline from the AN of the day suggests differently, does it not?

1000 Baht is rediculous. At least 10.000 or more even. And revoke his visa. And confiscate the car.🙏
Hard to revoke the visa of a thai person.
could revoke his drivers licence, if in fact he committed a traffic offence

At the time the video went viral, I believe that farang were blamed as being the driver and their were howls for their deportation.
oh the irony

The answer is a clear YES. Any money brought into Thailand from abroad, no matter how it is brought in, is assessable. That doesn't mean it will be taxed but has to be added to the mix and is declarable.
I’m not sure you are correct. Only INCOME brought in is assessable to tax. Possibly capital gains also. I see no mention of assessing capital monies that are brought in to Thailand.
there is also the issue of whether the person withdrawing cash from an atm is, in fact, resident in Thailand for tax purposes. No details were provided by the op on that.

FFS where are these idiots coming from? They are making it hard for all of us, Thais are just barely tolerating us now.
They always have just barely tolerated us. Just before they needed the money more so hid it better

Similar incidents?
Germanic man grabs the collar of a taxi driver. Two Thai guys cut off the arm of a shopkeeper.
Other than cigarettes, there are some quite marked differences

It’s always been going on, just it’s flavor of the month to highlight it at the moment.
Plenty of crap going on with Thai people as well, but foreigners behaving badly is what’s generating click atm.
might change in a while in terms of reporting, will continue in terms of reality
