  1. Oh dear!! if you had gone to the place Rimmer and myself recommended....28Bt/Sqm for normal grass, and 30Bt/Sqm for the broad leaved variety... and the Old Lady that runs it usually gives us a couple of plants for FREE!!, live and learn eh!!

  2. The local authorities are always turning on and off the municipal water supply for some reason or another, every time they turn it on again all the sediment that has setteled in the pipes during the off gets agitated and flows through to the end user, unfortunately in a condo you have little choice other than to accept it. :o

  3. the bell will just have to stop ringing as much

Stupid n00b question: what's with the bell?? (I've visited LOS 4 times, never heard of it before.)

Were you confined to your hotel room for the duration of your visits??? :o:D

  4. I went through this exsercise back in March - could not get a mini bus without a driver.

We ended up taking one with a driver at 2000 Bt / day + fuel. That was a Toyota VIP with the high roof, TV, plenty room and very plush! It was organised by a Thai family member so i not sure how that price shapes up?

I was not looking forward to it, however the driver was very good, did exactly as we requested, went where we wanted etc. Basically he had no input but just to drive, i was worried he might start trying to tell us where we should go, how we should get there etc (IE: trying to be an unrequired tour guide) but no - he was fine.

One consideration you might need to make is if you did manage to get one without a driver, would you be covered by insurance / liscence etc??

  5. Anyone of a nervous disposition DONT look at CNBC right now!!!! Wow, GBP, EUR, JPY, AUD to name but a few are taking a huge thrashing!!!! GBP down 5% against the dollar today already!!!!!!! Ooooooooh :o

  6. "The misses". I love it, it's about ownership, similar to "the cat", the dog", "the car"..."the misses". Since you are going to be spending your money, I'm not sure that "the misses" really cares if you spend too much or not. On the other hand, TVers have been waiting patiently for five years for BKK real estate prices to crash...and they only keep going up.
Well I am one of the few lucky ones. My misses is a lot richer than I am. :D

Yes she will own the land but I am not spending a penny of my own cash. :D

The way we think is we are in this as a team.

We are very happy together and I have no reason to think that the money train I am sitting on will stop but if one day she ran out of mommy and daddy money then I hope me, the night is shinning armor can step up to the challange.

I have my own businesses that are doing well, bad as in down this last 3 months but still making at present and my money has been going into UK real estate which my misses has also helped me purchase the last one. I know the UK market is down but we are in this for the long term.

If I was to buy into anything here with my own cash as in Thai real estate and I moaned about myself not being on the papers I would look like an ass as she has put money in property that is in my name in the UK.

On the other hand I know of millions of horror stores of guys giving there life savings for a plot and a house up north and once the papers are signed its all over. Little lady Thai has a nice new house and her real boyfriend moves in.

So back on topic, If there is land we want to buy in the lower suk area then buy do not wait as it is not going down?

    Slight exaggeration perhaps?? :o

  7. SK Electric on Thpprasit road, if you are heading from Sukhumvit towards Jomtien, it is about 50m past the petrol station on the opposite side, you will see electrical stuff outside on the footpath, two shops, one with lights etc, the other with bulbs, cable and stuff.

    Very good prices too!

  8. There is a rumour that the "Government" is being pushed to devalue the Baht by 5% to aid exports, wheather this will happen or not remains to be seen though! Small ammount but every little helps.

The Thai Baht is no stronger than it usually is, unfortunately it is the current weakness of the Pound, Aussie dollar and Euro etc. that is hurting.

We will see what happens today at the OPEC meeting, if they decide to cut production then the oil price may increase again, this in turn will lead to some gains in these currencies, we shall see..... :o

  9. All the tourists are a lot more spread out around the town these days, i have never seen so much falangs walking about Sukhumvit, Chaiyapruek, Na Jomtien areas. Just seems wierd as not so long ago it was a bit of a novelty to see a westerner walking about in these areas.

I would not say the whole of Pattaya was dead now, just not so condensed into the centre of town, this seems to have been the trend for the last couple of years. :o

  10. "Did notice during the day plenty of folks drinking north of 2nd road."

Even more confusing to me I thought 2nd Road runs basically South to North in direction ,,how can folks be drinking north of 2nd road shouldn't that be "drinking either east or west of 2nd road" ?

North of 2nd road would be north of the dolphin roundabout - Naklua, can be quite busy up that way especially with those of Herman decent! :o

  11. Indeed, REBA acts as a cartel, putting pressure on its members to increase their commissions from a previous industry standard of 3% to now 5%. There have been a couple of agents who resisted for a period of time, however it looks like most, if not all of them, now tow the line ....

The answer to all this confidence battering is for an indipendent government sponsored legitimate licencing authority to asses the whole business of real estate brokorage within Thailand and issue licences with gradings acording to the performance and creditability of any person, persons or company wishing to act on behalf of the unsuspecting public just like any where else in the world.

But Hey! is that snow I see falling on Budda Hill !!!! (TIT)

They would kind of need to get a reliable government sorted out first methinks!! :o

  12. yes is the old pattaya shooting club off of sukhumvit road ,up huay yai road and turn left past rail track then follow signs for a few hundred metres.has horse riding, fishing, flying fox (this is a line to come off a tower to slide down army style....forgot whats it called in farangland..im getting old!),gun shooting, archery and yes they have clay pigeon shooting with one trap to send them flying out of, prices seem to me to be a little expensive but depends on your budget.clay shooting was 5 shots at 700bt all inclusive or 25 at 2500 bt.hand guns was 600 bt for 10 shots(9mm) inclusive of gun hire which is ok but only a minutes worth of fun, if that, for 10 quid so you could easily spend 30-40 quid in 10 mins..........i think tiffany indoor range works out better value for handgun shooting.

Thanks for the confirmation of the clay shooting, Fkn expensive though!!

By the way...flying fox = Death slide!! :o

  13. After a few initial searches we have always ended up using the same garden centre for all the grass we use.

From Pattaya head towards Sattahip on the Sukhumvit, just after Bang Saray you will come to a major intersection with traffic lights do a U turn there and then the garden centre is the first one you come too on your left heading back towards Pattaya. (app 100m).

Delevired every day so always fresh, depends how much you need they can deliver.

They have both kinds too. For your info each Turf is 0.5 Sqm.

    Happy Landscaping!! :o

  14. If the Brits want to add herbs and spices to their hamburger, that's up to them. It just seems strange to me that they don't want to taste the beef if there actually is any. Topping the hamburger(?) off with a fried egg and cucumbers seems the ultimate insult to beef. I had a hamburger in Loei and it was pork. The waitress told me that WAS a hamburger and if I wanted a beef burger, I should have ordered a beef burger.

Seems like a reasonable assumption, why would you call a burger made with ham anything other than a HAMburger, or a burger made with beef anything other than a BEEFburger???

  15. As for me, I'll just carry on working, making decent money, and buy the 'REAL THING' No

Aren't you the same guy who opened a topic yesterday that he had only 10.000 baht for the birth of his child. :D

Yes, I'm a bit short now as I'm saving for a decent F1 sim, priorities, priorities....... :o

Obviously the kind of quality parent all the locals are longing for - WNKR!!!!!

  16. It is very nearly open / finished, on the site of the old herb garden hotel/resort, dont know the take up on stalls yet, nice setting though, but pay no heed to the picture of a McDonalds occupying the prestigious corner site - i can guarantee that is a big NO! for now anyway :o
