  1. in the UK nothing will happen to him... they can't even lock up drug dealers. He most likely will get away with a slap on the wrist and a little fine
  2. the client is based in Europe and the work takes place in Europe also
  3. Hi, I have a couple of bank accounts in my name in Thailand. Although I'm a regular visitor and married to a Thai, I'm not officially resident in Thailand yet as I don't spend more than 6 months there per year ; I'm EU resident. I do some additional IT projects for an online remote work platform and given they are pretty flexible as to where they can pay me, I have the option to be paid into my Thai bank account, does anyone know if this would be a problem/bad idea? I'm thinking about the new tax law etc. Thanks 🙂
  4. Hi, Most sites have been taken down. There are some IPTV suppliers which cover most games though.. Very useful for CL! Cheers
  5. Hi, yes I do a bit but to be honest Eurosport has all the games so tend to use that more
  6. Hi, here's what happened in the end. We managed to get thru on the phone to someone at immigration, they said it wasn't recommended at all to apply for Thai wife visa, and it wouldn't be quicker anyway. Told us to come at their office in BKK to cancel the current visa. Got there, front desk lady told us to cancel we needed to show 400k in account .. we don't have that lying around so paused for a minute... Then went back inside and asked to proceed to the officer anyway ... When got to the officer he said : no need to cancel as you just get out the country and don't use it, it will cancel itself.. I showed him the answer from the embassy in Cambodia insisting clearly in having it cancelled first ????... He said 'let me check'. He came back in and said 'oh yes actually have to cancel'. I explained I didn't have 400k in my account, he said "don't need"...Asked him to cancel, he looked at my visa and said: it was issued in Chonburi so you can only cancel it there ???? Went there yesterday, had to write a letter and give copy of passport + passport, 30mn later it was cancelled (they give you 7 days to leave). I shall now be able to apply for non B ..
  7. I will ask on Monday. I will also ask them: given I also have a French passport, could I maybe leave the country, and re-enter on a tourist visa with my French passport and apply for a work permit... That might be simpler/quicker!!
  8. I think in a lot of cases it might be due to not only the fatty street food full of sugar but also those smoothies and ice drinks that they drink every day, they are full of syrop and condensed milk...
  9. I have an appointment at the immigration office on Monday, I will update this thread as it could be useful to people
  10. ah yes I actually remember the message saying he passed away some time ago, I did think the name was ringing a bell. RIP
  11. yes exactly, i've tried to find info about that as well but can't find much. On another thread some guy managed to do it -i've tried to contact him to find out how.. There's info on the immigration website, but it relates to changing from e.g. tourist visa to Non B...
  12. Hi, I've been staying on a non O visa with a retirement extention of stay since last year (valid until sept). I've been offered a job in BKK and therefore need a work permit. The company mentioned I would need to change visa type to Non B and then apply for a work permit. I'm getting confused as I've read that I can actually apply for a work permit with a non O visa (extension is separate to visa as i understand...as i understand my extension type is 'Retirement'.. ) . Is it really the case? or can i just apply for a work permit I enclose copies of my visa and extention details... i would very much appreciate some help, i'm getting stressed. I'm not sure what I need to do, I tried ringing the immigration office but could not get through. Can i just apply for WP, or can i change my visa from non O to B (and do i need to leave the country to do so or can it just be changed?) Also, being a bi-national (UK + Frogland), could I just use my other passport and apply for a non B directly.... ? I'm after the fastest solution as I need to start work asap Thanks to anyone who can help, it would be much appreciated.
  13. Thanks for your help and reply, best wishes ????
  14. Hi, has anyone built an office in their garden? I wanted to get an idea of the costs (nothing too big, maybe 2 or 3m long with glass panels). Thank you
  15. I'm coming from Switzerland but i've read that they don't want to discriminate vs our Chinese friends so try to treat everyone the same -hence the requirements for vaccination ; but i've also read about people being asked to provide insurance proof as well..
  16. I'm flying into Thailand in a couple of weeks, I've read that they are asking for Covid insurance again... i'm fully vaccinated (in fact i had my 4th shot a couple of weeks)
  17. Hi, Can someone please recommend a cheap insurance for Covid as this is apparently a requirement when arriving? Many thanks
  18. @Tom if I find someone another way I will let you know
  19. Hi, We have a condo in BKK and there's a problem with the hot water unfortunately, it comes out cold. There's also a problem with one of the lights so I was wondering if anyone can recommend either someone who can fix both or just a plumber... Many thanks and best wishes ????
  20. Hi, quick question from me, if you take the example of someone working online for a foreign company and living in Thailand (ok not supposed to but many people do...). If that person applies for LTR as opposed to stick to e.g retirement visa, wouldn't that make him/her known to the tax authorities in Thailand? (and as a result have to pay taxes..)
