  1. Justin,

Man, I know love is blind, and the last thing you want to hear is a comment like mine, but let me tell you very bluntly: you are most probably very lucky that she refuses you as her boyfriend.

I may seem to be generalizing, but experience taught me that the so called "gems" in this business simply do not exist,

I don't know you, but apparently you don't know much about Thailand. I say this without arrogance, just would like you to be careful and most important not to lose your proper judgment and common sense because of a charming smile:

    - I might not know Thailand very well either, but a "gentlemen's club" (or whatever), where so called ladies are paid to "entertain" their male (!) customers and where you CANNOT buy them out for sex – that my friend, I do not think it exists in the Land of Smiles....

    - You say there is nobody paying for her. Sorry, how the h*ll would you find out about that? It is not uncommon that Thai girls "in need" are sponsored by a couple of men at the same time. Of course non of them is aware of any of the others.

    - You say you are a senior manager. Thus, I assume you have a certain education and a minimum of intelligence that brought you into this position. Do you have the SLIGHTEST idea how different the two of you (probably) are in terms of social background, education, experience in life, values, and expectations in life? Or in short: would you ever date a "g club girl" in your country...?

Dude, once more, I don't know you, but there is a reason why someone said ANOTHER "my go go girl is different thread". Trust me, your story is very, very common, and even though I don't know you, you for sure don't deserve to run into your misery and ruin your life.

Take good care of yourself and best of luck.

    Superb advice, well done,. :o
  2. The Thai police are scum, they're no better than the mafia. Find me a good Thai cop and I'll find you a pig with wings. I feel sorry for the poor Thais who are the ones who suffer the worst treatment from those so called police.

No, they are the mafia. I am tired of people referring to them as police. They are simply just criminals who wear uniforms. Nothing more, nothing less.

You 2 are nothing less than 2 morons!

I know several good Police officers in this country.

They live in small 1-room apartments, being too proud to take any bribes, etc.

They really hate what the majority of their colleagues do.

Naturally they will never testify what their colleagues do.

But nevertheless these guys are honest.

    Not all are corrupt!!

You two are the same type of people that fuel the idiotic posts that All brits are loud drunkards, or the Americans step on all people in other countries, or that all Thai ladies are hookers, etc, etc.

Finally, I have never ever had any trouble with the Police here, even long time before I met my (Police) friends.

I have never met any foreigners that personally had to bribe themself out of trouble. Even though I know that happens.

I agree that painting every police officer in Thailand with the same "corruption brush" is ridiculous. Certainly, there are a few that really do take pride in their jobs and don't take many bribes, but be careful about assuming that some are your "friends". I would strongly supect that if it came down to the choice of protecting your butt or making some money from a situation, 99% of Thai cops will opt for the money. These police officers you speak of may be friendly towards you, but that's a lot different than being your friends.

NEVER in 20 tears have i met a traffic cop that wasnt on the take, and thats only the bottom rung of the ladder,.

Interesting! I've been stopped by the police three times while driving. Once was on a motorcycle, and I was guilty of not wearing my helmet. The officer would not take any money but insisted that I go to the station to pay the fine. Another was also while riding a motorbike. This time the officer accused me of driving in the outside lane. I held my ground and explained that I was not in that lane. After he threatened me twice by saying that I'd have to go to the police station, I said, "Fine -- no problem. Give me the ticket and I'll go pay it." He finally gave up and sent me on my way without a ticket or paying him. The last time was while driving a car, and this time I was guilty of letting my tax sticker expire. Once again, the officer refused to take any money on the spot but made me drive to the nearest police station to pay the fine.

I guess it's just luck of the draw, but it's intersting that you've NEVER met an honest Thai traffic cop in 20 years, yet 2 out of 3 I've had encounters with appeared to do the proper thing.

Yes, and my experience is in 20 years and i have driven all over thailand .3 times on one trip to the border 3 months ago and paid on the spot each time, but maybe its because i was breaking the law ( speeding ) and i dont jump up and down ,suits me fine, pay up and sod off, im in thailand, if you think we will change ANYTHING here with morals ill be very surprised ,.if they insisted on court appearances and had a points system here i would have been a pedestrian long ago,. :o .however on the more serious issues of compensation from the police what would happen if it was refused and they made it public, unfortunatly again this is thailand and we ( well most of us ) are guests here and its none of our business ,comments we can make, changes however are an entirely different ball game,.

  4. Well i think this is a troll, but here goes,. here is a go go bar managers comments ( not me ,but a very savvy man )in his opinion if a girl tells you straight she cant get involved its simply because she is earning VERY big money, also there will/ may be a sugar daddy already on the scene and she dosent want to compromise that,.yes in a way you have to admire her honesty, however ,you still have a very busy girl there and do you really want a relationship with her ? shes already told you in a roundabout way that she ONLY cares for money,. do we really have to tell you what you should do ? :o

  5. Never seen a british football hooligan in Pattaya - seen plenty swede, finnish, german and russian muppets though!! :o

Have you never been down Soi 6 to the Chelsea Head Hunters Bar???????????????...............

This is a bar own by one of the UK's biggest football hooligans :D

Or that old favourite the dogs <deleted> ! ,.( or has it changed its name ?)...if you doubt they are in there just go in shouting " GERMANY " "
  6. Well i am a brit, and i havent come to their defence sadly,. what i can tel you is that i would much rather walk alone down walking st than any uk town high street after 1am, in the uk you are more likely to get trouble than thailand for sure, as was said earlier most will be occupied probably with a nice girl they have met !,. and are probably pre occupied in thailand, so id say they ( most ) behave here better than at home, where they go home alone looking for trouble,.been the same since the 70s i recall,.

  7. I find this post a troll, its a bit like saying " keeping an eye on your dog " .why would anyone want to stay with a woman that they think this of, .....rediculous :o and as for this "A slight risk but when she arrived in the UK she could pay it back herself " good luck,.

  8. I believe that the tracking number is only good whilst the package is inside Thailand, once it leaves the country it is no longer traceable.... I was told this buy a post office clerk.

This despite the fact that the service is apparently worldwide.

thats true, however if you go into the recieving countries system you should find it there, for the uk its parcelforce ./for the us usps,.
  9. I have been searching for friendly Farangs in Thailand for over 20 years and if you find any, please let me know.

It is difficult for me, a person of love and whose life ambition is only to extend kindness to all, to associate with other Farangs here who are are just MEAN & NASTY.

    I can see why......

I wouldnt worry about it if i were you, a lot of the comments on here are said as a joke or sarcasm,Its a shame isnt it that it takes a disaster or similar to see the real side some people as in those situations people of all nationalities seem to come together as one naturally, just go look at the post of the couple in chiang mai whose daughter was shot,.all replies are positive and heartwarming,.i think you will get the jist of it as you go along, good luck,.
  10. I have been searching for friendly Farangs in Thailand for over 20 years and if you find any, please let me know.

This is very true and reading some comments from posters on here we just know we wouldnt want them for friends, unlike dustoff and britmaveric, and i dont care where they come from,. :o
  11. I have seen my share of foreign/thai altercations, and unfortunately I cannot recall a single instance where it worked out in favor of a foreigner once an altercation escalated into violence.

I would suggest you disregard ANY advice from the ever popular poster "petitechevre" aka; little goat. He may tell you to bluster through it with bravado and/or violence. However if push comes to shove realize; you may beat the thai who is confronting you, but you most certainly cannot beat the other 63+ million inhabitants here who will come and beat you to a bloody pulp on the street.

I also find it strange that EVERY food vendor on your Soi 'hates' you. I've passed the same vendors for going on 4 years and they're friendly to a fault, although I rarely buy from them. It's the same with the moto-taxi guys on my Soi; friendly, always saying hello to me, etc.

I don't understand how, in such a short time, you've alienated so many people. Most thais are non-confrontational to a fault, (they're hard wired that way from infancy). They can be pushed pretty far by western standards before exploding. Although that being said, and you obviously being a foreigner, unfortunately you never know exactly where the line is, until you've pushed them over it.

Good luck, enjoy your time in the glorious "Land 'O Thais", turn the light out when you leave.

Im inclined to agree and i see it like this , ( and i include myself in this a bit ) a lot of farang are uptight and miserable but if you try you can make( some of ) them smile, thais on the other hand are usually happy go lucky but if you try hard you can piss them off,..
  12. Illegal to do so - charge 2% fee, however the merchant will set the price with the fee in the total, so the receipt will not show the fee itself. So in other words you have no proof, and credit card company sees you agreed to the set price via signature. Prob could sign it improperly then claim fraud, however then you will screw the merchant.
all this over 2 per cent, :o screw the merchant !!,claim fraud !? you have been in thailand to long my friend, and where does its say its illegal,.how do you know it dosent say somewhere in the shop that prices posted are for cash and a credit card surcharge surcharge will be charged,.also when you sign the slip it will include the commision you have AGREED to,.as for you advising to a possible fraud mr maverick i find that out of character after reading some of your posts,.
