Abhisit on TV now.
He should be in jail.
And the red leaders with bodies on the stage are heroes - right?
And the red idiots firing live rounds into the soldiers are misunderstood - correct?
And Thaksin is actually a nice guy with Thailands best interests at heart - yes?
It doesn't really matter what I think about Thaksin, it matters what Thai people think. I can muster some respect for the differing viewpoints out there.
But there's just no way around the ugly facts, that the army has produced another black Songkran. Dead is dead, argue about Thaksin until the cows come home if you will.

There is one reason only why sadly it was necessary to show the dead: To keep them from being disappeared by the army. At least their death will not be forgotten.
I think Abhisit is done; Thais and foreigners murdered by the army. It's sick.
-
> the police will have to use real bullets and defend themselves.
I've seen some pretty sick pictures just now. They HAVE used real bullets. Go look it up, but be warned, it's disgusting.

Is it safe to arrive in Bangkok on Tuesday ?
It's safe to arrive, and it's safe to immediately get a connecting flight out of that pit. Find a beach or a mountain.. Songkran is on, so the North will be partying no matter what.

Nobody (besides JingThing) really wants to see the Thai military (with its history) back of the street killing people.
How dare you say that? I have NEVER said such a thing EVER and I never would. You have crossed a line there, mate, just like the red insurgent terrorists. I ask that you apologize for telling a lie like that. I doubt you will, but a false statement like that at least needed to be called out for what it is.
You have continuously been making hateful statements. Then you can't suddenly act all outraged when you get called on it.

They must declare curfew and open it for a couple of hours during the day time tomorrow and impose it again tomorrow evenin, to clear up pockets of radical hardcore reds. If necessary those radical reds who live in Bangkok could also be sent to a holding place to interrogate details.
There's no other solution at this moment.
Dissolve parliament and have elections would be a good solution. Abhisit had a clear opportunity to prevent all this, and didn't. Blood is on his hands now.

The reds have been demonstrating peacefully for a few weeks now (as were the Tianamen demonstrators) with no serious violence. The reds didn't posses "lethal force". The army did and used them. The army was instructed to attack Thai citizens acting peacefully. It is a disgrace and unacceptable in even a third world country.
Agree completely.
It's just sad. This government of criminals and it's puppet masters needs to go.
-
This all ain't worth it, people dying for what?? Not for what they want but for what there " leaders " have in mind, especially T.
Accept earlier ( 9 months ) elections and go home. Win some, lose some on both sides, but at least everybody stays alive.
Sad, very very sad.
May the heroes rest in peace. I am thankful for their sacrifice.

I hope the government sticks to its [rubber] guns and puts down the riot, because the alternative is worse.
Sometimes, somewhere rubber is still too soft for some such of iron-heads...and must be swithced to a harder material. For the sake of future.
Yes, sometimes you must painfully CUT your live flesh to remove a CANCER. Because - yes! - the "not-to-cut!" alternative is much worse.
Lovely. Guess this sort of silly rhetoric is allowed now.
-
Good bye Reds. The silent majority are not going to stay silent after you killed Thai soldiers. My facebook is going nuts.
My Facebook is going nuts too. Except I have friends who support democracy and freedom.
The government has truly shown its ugly face; gloves seem to be off, which is sad.
-
I guess that means we won't be running into you. I think I'll get over that disappointment.
-
It is only fun if you like the idea of getting or slamming others with water with ice cubes in their ears as they plead you to not do it when they are wearing business clothes and are obviously on their way to a meeting.
Public events like this brings out the lowest people and gives them an excuse to misbehave.
In places like Chiang Mai it brings out pretty much everyone, and gives them an excuse to have fun, celebrate, and cool down from the heat.
-
I LOVE it too.. Specifically in Chiang Mai. This will be my 15th Songkran, and I still look forward to it like I used to look forward to Christmas as a 6 year old.
Bring it on!!

First the News Clippins forum got polluted with offensive and hateful posts like yours, then the General forum. Please don't do it to the Chiang Mai forum.
If you want to put forward a point of view then please do so, but to compare a person that you don't a agree with to a mass murderer is both shameful and stupid and does nothing but spread hate.
Have some respect for the Mussolini's victims please, even if respecting all Thai's viewpoints is too much to ask. Please grow up.
-
What you're doing is sad, off the mark and against forum rules, but I'm giving up on reporting posts.
A comparison to Benito Mussolini seems much more fitting. I find the resemblance striking. -

Dear WinnieTheKhwai, do you know what they talking about? Do you UNDERSTAND it?
Yes, of course. And it's in no way different from the stuff that was yelled from PAD stages when they were having their rallies. I find it interesting more than anything else that in a culture that's normally so restrained, we see such over the top yelling when it comes to political rallies. I do find that interesting, mostly because I find just about any aspect of Thailand interesting.
I don't know where you come from but, in any Western country, if you use those words and tactics I hear on the Red Channel TV, that channel will be closed the next day and the people in jail.Fortunately Thailand is not a Western country. If it was, chances are I wouldn't enjoy it so much and find it so interesting. In addition I've been here long enough that my country of origin does not have a significant effect on who I am as a person. I lived my whole adult life in Thailand. (And it's iffy if you can even judge or stereotype people depening on their nationality; I don't believe in that.)
Believe me. It will NOT survive for 1 day. It is dangerous and disgusting and has NOTHING to do with democracy or free speech from poor people. NOTHING AT ALL.And that's a perfectly valid point of view, I may even agree. I do however understand why some people would want to fight the status quo in Thailand, and that some people use course language to do so. (Better than violent protests, shooting guns and blocking airports, for starters.)
Anyway, go visit Phuket Laikhram (Suthep road past the Canal Road, left side. Get there before 2pm). It's a great place and they're as yellow as freshly peed on snow. What I found most remarkable about this topic is actually that the Daret family like the Red side.. That's not typical for a middle class Chinese downtown family.
-
Yes, I agree about that of course. Throwing water on main highways, especially several days before the actual event is not a good thing.
I'm happy that we're blessed with an environment where we can safely have a party (along the moat). I stopped going to other roads such as the old Lamphun road.
-
But despite it all, would it be fair to say that vast majority of protesters on both sides are peaceful campaigners trying to get themselves heard, in what is after all, a mainly democratic freedom of public protest and campaigning of their beliefs?
Even the western NEWS reports a 'Carnival Atmosphere' for most of the time. After all, we in the West are always marching through the towns and cities protesting about this and that, yet even here there are always a few ugly (and occasional fatal) stories to come out of these public gathering
Yes, but keep in mind that many of the 'experts' here don't read those. They just gobble up The Nation as if it's gospel and then claim that the protesters are somtam eating uneducated hitler fans. It's really quite sad to see such an attitude about the people in whose country they live.
-
First of the Songkran bashing topics.. What a great yearly tradition, after the haze-whining season it's the Songkran-whining season. Brilliant.
-
Chiang Mai doesn't have a significant number of motorcycle taxi drivers, other than a handful at the bus station, and they're not thugs.
How about sticking to the Pattaya forum instead of polluting all the other forums with your 'insight' ?

I'm most definitely going to celebrate Songkran starting Monday. ( And it's none of my embassies business where I live. )
It's sad what's happening right now, but that too is the country we live in.
