Jesse. I believed the title had to be changed to allow it to be posted elsewhere as is the case with Angloinfo. I wanted to give the Administrators a reason for the post to be left on another forum. As was always the case, a concert was always going to be played at Pattaya. Gypsy, my nextdoor neighbour has posted on facebook. TV was left to me because I am a member and he is not. Gypsy is a member of Donovans band. It was my idea to get feedback. And why not?? If the post had remained on the General forum there would have been no need to post elsewhere. It was lost in ¨Farang Pub¨.

I hate to say but you are one of those members that send prospective members far away from this site. You are not alone, as for every post, one will find argumentative time wasters such as yourself.When TV is brought up in conversation there are more people dissing the site, exampling (!?!) comments like yours, than there are praising it! Feel proud!!!

My neighbour here on the Eastern Seaboard, Gypsy Dave was 60s singing icon, Donovans right hand man and is still a close friend speaking with him most weeks. Gypsy is trying to encourage Donovan to visit Thailand first as a friend but also to perform a concert or two at a couple of smallish/medium venues. He does still perform around the World singing his hits like Mellow Yellow and the Hurdy Gurdy Man together with more recent songs that he is continually writing, but has yet to visit the LOS.

I am writing this to determine if he is still remembered by the masses here and how much support would he receive from you guys if he could be persuaded to honour us with a concert in Pattaya . Let me know.

This was first posted on the General Forum but was then transferred to Entertainment by the Administrators. I had trouble finding the Entertainment Forum and when I eventually did found it was under the title of Farang Pub. Administrators please, as any proposed concert will take place in Pattaya, allow this to be posted in the Pattaya Forum so that as many people as possible will view it.

Immigration Offices throughout the Kingdom differ in their appraisal of Thai Law. I can only advise that the Rayong Office at Mapthaput in particular do transfer a 30 day visa exempt entry to a non imm. O, allowing a stay of 3 months before having to report back to them when they will issue a one year extension on the basis of retirement. Proof of income of 65000Baht per month by way of a letter from your Embassy, or 800000Baht in a Thai bank for a period of 2 months min. is required. They will keep the original Embassy letter at the transfer stage but will stamp and sign a photocopy of same to use for the first extension. From this I deduce that the law allows the transfer to be carried out but Immigration Offices are a law unto themselves.

One problem I see with your intended itinerary is that the airline will probably want to see a flight ticket out of Thailand before letting you board the aircraft back to Thailand. The flight out will have to be dated within the 30 day visa exempt period that you will receive at Bangkok. The reason being is that you will be entering Thailand without a visa and this necessitates an exit flight ticket by immigration law. Go overland is the best advise you will receive.

Go to Thaiexpattv and try their two day trail. It is instant and you can start watching English TV immediately. It is also fool proof. It gives you seven days catch up which is required because of the time difference with the UK. The same channels can be watched for free on the internet but is streamed from the UK and so is unwatchable at times because of internet traffic and poor international connection. Thai Expat TV uses a Thai server and is buffer free enabling one to watch at anytime for a small monthly sum. TRY THE 2 DAY FREE TRAIL.

People do the same in Europe. Benidorm, Spain no one ever goes there! They holiday in every village around to put friends off the scent. Benidorm has had bad publicity in the past for its drunken louts but the small loutish area gets wild only in the early hours of the morning. It is a beautiful place to visit and full of vacationing Spanish.

I actually used your link GuyL and with the recommendations held therein I accessed Control Panel - Internet Options - Advanced - and reset IE. should have known to have tried this route myself, but any way it seems to have cured the problem. Back to Firefox now! Thanks once again.

Hello to all.

Although I do not ever use IE, preferring Firefox, I do like to have it there as a backup. In any case if it is there on the laptop it should be working. And there lays my problem. Sometimes, unprompted a window appears stating IE has stopped working. This progresses and I receive a second window saying A problem caused the program to stop. Windows will close the program and when a solution is found will notify me. A solution has never been found and IE does not close down with the same notification repeating itself even if I try to manually close the program. It is the same scenario if I attempt to open IE manually. This has been happening over the last couple of weeks. I use Windows 7 Home.

If the solution is to uninstall then reinstall IE, how is that done? I have been into programs in the control panel and the main file and cannot see where to uninstall.

Please do not reply and tell me I am better off without IE as I am aware of that. I also know I can use Chrome or a whole host of others as a backup. The fact of the matter is is that it is installed and I want it working.

I have been experiencing the exact same international problem with TOT for the last 10 days or so. Thai speeds excellent, international down to 3.75 download and 0.66 upload, Ping 268ms to UK

This may be very basic, but, do you actually need the Set Top Box? I have now been onto the website and see that one can purchase a subscription separate to the purchase of a box. If the box is not required can you inform me as to what benefits a box will bring to the table. Thanks!

Also are these boxes just a plug in and play or are they required to be set up in some way with app installations?

Been reading the posts. Am I correct in saying that watching UK TV through a subscription with either UKTVAsia or ThaiexpatTV there is no buffering. At present I watch UK TV for free via Expat Shield on the catchup sites as live is a no no with my international bandwidth. However I only seem able to watch this at odd times through the early hours and mornings just recently so am prepared to pay a 600 Baht monthly subscription for buffer free, watch anytime BBC, ITV etc..Please confirm or otherwise.

Thank you Bifftastic. How do I go about obtaining details of the Bangkok Bank London? And surely I must inform them first of any transactions? What forms are there and how do I obtain them? I do have a Bangkok Bank account in Thailand and internet banking with both UK Bank and Thai Bank accounts.

I believe approx. two years ago that the UK Government brought out a directive requiring all UK banks to inform certain Gov. Departments such as the Dept. of Work and Pensions, or whoever, if regular sums were being transferred overseas. Does any knowledgeable person know if that is true? I am wanting to set up a monthly bank transfer of a few hundred pounds sterling from the UK to Thailand to assist family members. All credits into the UK bank account are after tax has been paid. Whether the informing is true or not, and I really do want to find out, the bank will be charging a monthly fee of 24 Pounds Sterling; is there a cheaper method of transferring funds?

I understand that if one is 65 or older only proof of retirement is required to obtain a non O on the grounds of retirement. If no proof of finances are required at that stage what about obtaining the yearly extensions? Is proof of finances required then (800,000 in bank or monthly income of 65,000)? Thank you!

Hello, I have lived in Thailand for a number years on an O visa but for the last two years it was necessary for me to return to Europe. I am now ready to return to the LOS and am aware that any visa I had before has now expired and that I need to start the process from the beginning. I satisfy all the requirements for obtaining another O visa , but can I apply for this O at my local Immigration Office, namely Mabtaphut, after arriving with either a visa on arrival stamp or single entry tourist visa? If not what is the minimum visa I require before entry?

I should know the answer to this with the amount of time that I have lived in Thailand but it just escapes me. Getting too old!

Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy Y phone with gmail installed. I am able to access my account such as sent mail, compose, and inbox etc., but there is no contact folder. nor even a contacts icon anywhere. I have been on the internet and have followed every instruction found; with every SYNC enabled etc. but no contacts will appear on the phone. Are there any little nuances I should know about? Just how do I go about obtaining my gmail contacts onto my phone?

Doctormann, Tried what was stated but after cutting and pasting the address I cannot enter it and I have nothing that states Add gmail as an application etc.. The quotation marks have been omitted. What to do now? Any ideas?

Thanks Jollyposty but the problem is not sending mail within gmail. The problem lies with websites that allow you to press a send mail icon within their webpage.

I run Windows 7 on my lap top with Firefox as my search engine and Gmail for sending and receiving mail. Although I have Gmail as default, each time I press ´send an Email to´ on a WEB page it opens in Outlook and not Gmail. I have obviously to change some setting or other but do not know where or what to do. Any assistance would be appreciated.
