  1. Slipperylobster, my home system has been sorted now by TOT at their server. I cannot do anything about the routers used by hotels, where the main problem exists as I am far from home, and by using the diagnostics, or right clicking icon told me there was no IP address, but thanks anyway.

PS. This reply may also have been delayed through no fault of my own.

  2. Apologies Thedemon,

This is what I replied to your posted question but looking below at the mail I received from the TV Postmaster the forum did not receive it. I was not ignoring you! Incidentally I am without proper TOT internet as their server is down, another issue all together. I am using a tethered connection on a different system.

    Thedemon,

    802.11n Wireless LAN Card

    Ralink Technology, Corp.

    version 5.0.24.0

file version 5.00.24.0000 built by WINDDK

Thats all I have I believe. Hope it is useful.

  3. Immigration here at Maptaphut, Rayong requires a letter from the Embassy only if you obtained the new passport whilst in Thailand. No letter required if you journeyed outside the Kingdom and obtained a new passport whilst out of Thailand. This scenario involves showing the new and old passport that has your visa and re entry stamps to immigration on entry at the Thai border. They will place an entry stamp in the new passport with a validity date as stated in your visa. It is left to you to visit your local immigration office with both passports where they will transfer the visa. It may be necessary to inform your local office that you obtained the new passport outside the country as they sometimes only assume people obtain them whilst staying in the Kingdom.

Did this only four weeks ago!

  4. I have just been traveling extensively and on attempting to hook up to hotel wifi systems I found on occasions that it was not possible. It happened once in the UK, returning home to Thailand I could not connect to my home wifi, OK in Malaysia but not in Bali. All within the space of three weeks. The laptop was connecting but I was getting a message that read something like Windows does not recognise Network or Server. Going through the diagnostics I found the problem noted as being no IP Address. This, even on my home TOT system that I have never had a problem with before. Why should this be happening? There was never a problem connecting with my Android mobile, except that in Tethering mode, at each place the laptop could not connect fully, it also could not tether to my mobile. At other places tethering worked just fine. At home, TOT sorted the problem without visiting; presumably resetting something their end.

I run Windows 7 as the OS on my laptop but understand I can bypass this somehow to connect to wifi! Could somebody explain how please.

  5. Don`t know if this is too late for this post but here goes anyway. I am a 61 year old Brit with a sizable pension pot, the lower hundreds of thousands, do not intend, unless circumstances alter, to invest in a pension until 65 years old but my issue is that I wish my wife to continue receiving income after I have kicked the bucket. The facility is there with an annuity but the income I receive while alive is reduced quite considerably plus I have been an expat for decades and would not want to pay the UK rate of tax. My wifes income would be 50% of this. I realise I can change this percentage but 50% is what it would be.

So to safeguard a livable income for my wife and receive a tidy sum for myself while alive which way does one turn? Annuity or Sips and pay UK taxes or a QROPS? The question is put for the moment; I am aware of the imminent changes, whatever they may be!

    Thanks!

  6. With the current great reclining seat debate another question rears its head. Is there any recourse for compensation when there is a fault with the entertainment system built into the back of seats? Very often the sound does not work, even with the changing of headphones, and occasionally the visual monitor remains inactive. Like with the reclining seat, which I never recline in flight, one is paying for this facility!

  7. Has anyone experienced similar? I have been a TV member since 2008; originally I registered with a Loxinfo email address but many years ago changed the registered address to my current gmail. All has been fine with my postings and receiving replies and the newsletter has just kept on arriving. That is until the 9th August. I received my last newsletter on the 8th Aug. and assumed TV were taking a Mothers Day vacation for a while. Alas no vacation. I checked my Profile and Settings and found that TV had reverted to the ancient Loxinfo email address for some reason. I changed it back to the current which blocked my account with a note stating Group validating. During this process TV sent an email with a link to press. I did inform Support that I had not received this, but actually did. Took longer to arrive than anticipated. So this proves that Auto TV and my email do communicate. I have had contact with TV Support and explained the situation. They have been as useful as a chocolate teapot. I still am not receiving newsletters even though registering again for these. TV Support informed me that my email address for these newsletters was in any case my current gmail. Newsletters are not going to my Trash nor is there any firewall blocking them. I was also not trying to change my email address, I had just found that TV had reverted to the old without any communication from me. During the period from the 8th August I have not downloaded any new programs nor altered any settings. Just turn on as per normal, but this time, no TV. Any ideas! TV Support just puts the blame on my computer!

  8. Thanks to everyone; there certainly is a knowledge base out there! Keep the responses coming if you wish as they are interesting and useful. Gypsy has and will continue to make a record of your responses and will speak with Donovan, who incidentally has no knowledge about this post. I am helping Gypsy Dave in enticing his colleague and soul mate over for a visit. We are not getting any younger!

  10. Jesse. Still disrupting posts! DoILookLikeIGiveADamn is correct as the proper knowledge of the English language will show. Incidentally, Donovan has never performed a concert here in Thailand. Comment all you wish you are now on my ¨Ignore¨ list!

  11. Jesse. I believed the title had to be changed to allow it to be posted elsewhere as is the case with Angloinfo. I wanted to give the Administrators a reason for the post to be left on another forum. As was always the case, a concert was always going to be played at Pattaya. Gypsy, my nextdoor neighbour has posted on facebook. TV was left to me because I am a member and he is not. Gypsy is a member of Donovans band. It was my idea to get feedback. And why not?? If the post had remained on the General forum there would have been no need to post elsewhere. It was lost in ¨Farang Pub¨.

I hate to say but you are one of those members that send prospective members far away from this site. You are not alone, as for every post, one will find argumentative time wasters such as yourself. When TV is brought up in conversation there are more people dissing the site, exampling (!?!) comments like yours, than there are praising it! Feel proud!!!

  12. My neighbour here on the Eastern Seaboard, Gypsy Dave was 60s singing icon, Donovans right hand man and is still a close friend speaking with him most weeks. Gypsy is trying to encourage Donovan to visit Thailand first as a friend but also to perform a concert or two at a couple of smallish/medium venues. He does still perform around the World singing his hits like Mellow Yellow and the Hurdy Gurdy Man together with more recent songs that he is continually writing, but has yet to visit the LOS.

I am writing this to determine if he is still remembered by the masses here and how much support would he receive from you guys if he could be persuaded to honour us with a concert in Pattaya . Let me know.

    TO THE ADMINISTRATORS

This was first posted on the General Forum but was then transferred to Entertainment by the Administrators. I had trouble finding the Entertainment Forum and when I eventually did found it was under the title of Farang Pub. Administrators please, as any proposed concert will take place in Pattaya, allow this to be posted in the Pattaya Forum so that as many people as possible will view it.

Thank you to all those that did find this post somewhere and took the time to answer. I will keep all informed, although it may take some time.

  14. Immigration Offices throughout the Kingdom differ in their appraisal of Thai Law. I can only advise that the Rayong Office at Mapthaput in particular do transfer a 30 day visa exempt entry to a non imm. O, allowing a stay of 3 months before having to report back to them when they will issue a one year extension on the basis of retirement. Proof of income of 65000Baht per month by way of a letter from your Embassy, or 800000Baht in a Thai bank for a period of 2 months min. is required. They will keep the original Embassy letter at the transfer stage but will stamp and sign a photocopy of same to use for the first extension. From this I deduce that the law allows the transfer to be carried out but Immigration Offices are a law unto themselves.

  15. One problem I see with your intended itinerary is that the airline will probably want to see a flight ticket out of Thailand before letting you board the aircraft back to Thailand. The flight out will have to be dated within the 30 day visa exempt period that you will receive at Bangkok. The reason being is that you will be entering Thailand without a visa and this necessitates an exit flight ticket by immigration law. Go overland is the best advise you will receive.

  16. Go to Thaiexpattv and try their two day trail. It is instant and you can start watching English TV immediately. It is also fool proof. It gives you seven days catch up which is required because of the time difference with the UK. The same channels can be watched for free on the internet but is streamed from the UK and so is unwatchable at times because of internet traffic and poor international connection. Thai Expat TV uses a Thai server and is buffer free enabling one to watch at anytime for a small monthly sum. TRY THE 2 DAY FREE TRAIL.

  17. Thank you to both Lostinisaan and GuyL. I actually used your link GuyL and with the recommendations held therein I accessed Control Panel - Internet Options - Advanced - and reset IE. should have known to have tried this route myself, but any way it seems to have cured the problem. Back to Firefox now! Thanks once again.

  18. Hello to all.

Although I do not ever use IE, preferring Firefox, I do like to have it there as a backup. In any case if it is there on the laptop it should be working. And there lays my problem. Sometimes, unprompted a window appears stating IE has stopped working. This progresses and I receive a second window saying A problem caused the program to stop. Windows will close the program and when a solution is found will notify me. A solution has never been found and IE does not close down with the same notification repeating itself even if I try to manually close the program. It is the same scenario if I attempt to open IE manually. This has been happening over the last couple of weeks. I use Windows 7 Home.

If the solution is to uninstall then reinstall IE, how is that done? I have been into programs in the control panel and the main file and cannot see where to uninstall.

Please do not reply and tell me I am better off without IE as I am aware of that. I also know I can use Chrome or a whole host of others as a backup. The fact of the matter is is that it is installed and I want it working.

    Thanks guys.
