The difference is that Richard Branson is a far more noble, far more principled, far more benevolent individual than Trump will ever be. In fact, comparing Trump to Branson is like comparing Mussolini to FDR. Both were rich, both achieved the pinnacle of power in their countries, yet they were polar opposites in terms of moral character and actual long-term accomplishments. Branson gives large amounts to charity, has given his male employees one year of paid paternity leave, gives his 170 employees on his personal staff unlimited vacation (joining companies like Netflix, Ask.com, The Motley Fool, Groupon, and others). He has committed to giving half his personal wealth to charity upon his death, similar to Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and many other billionaires. Sorry, but Trump is nothing more than a greedy, self-serving narcissist who is in it for himself, others be damned.

lol, what do you speak about?

  2. It's difficult to do. Have you thought about a raspberry pi. ? It will boot once power is back on easy to ssh into.

  3. But also wake on Lan wouldn't work. Power off for several hours. Router gets a new Wan address. But my no - ip ddns service won't get updated, because the client is running on the notebook. It's not possible to configure the router with this no - ip service. That's confirmed by other users who use the same model.

  4. Make sure router has it set for pass through

Yes it does. I forgot the exactly reason why it doesn't work every time. After a while some information in a map get lost. Some kind of binding would solve this problem. I spent hours, but it never worked for me.

  5. There's such a thing as wake-on-lan which could do it via a ping bit I don't know how. Look in the BIOS

Thank you. I tried that before. Sometimes it works, sometime not. Very unreliable.

  6. Is there a way the notebook get wake-up from sleep mode as soon the power cable is plugged win? Windows 7.

I googled it but couldn't found any information.

I play around.... The reason, sometimes in my condo they cut the electricity for several hours for maintenance work. Then I go out. My goal, to figure out when the power comes back. I thought, ok, I just ping my no-ip ddns adress. If no answer, still no electricity. But this won't work since my router doesn't support no-ip. I use a they client on my notebook. But the battery keeps the notebook only 1 1/2 hours alive. So, the no-ip client will not be able to update the new IP address.

Probably there is no way to solve this. But maybe I miss something.

The point was that the OP mentioned getting a Tuk Tuk AFTER the border and the comment later was that the Tuk Tuk's cannot cross the border............

I guess he meant, take the bus ticket at the busstation, not at the bridge. I'm not aware that one can buy a ticket at the border.

However, when I came back, there were Tuk Tuk after the Lao border and asked 50 baht to Mukdahan bus station.

At Mukdahan, take the bus to Savannakhet, 50 THB.
Make sure you don't leave later than 8 30 from Mukdahan, because leaving with the 9 30 bus doesn't guarantee arriving on time at the consulate (opens at 9 AM, closes at 11 AM for applications)
Forget about walking from the bridge to the consulate, it's quite a walk, with luggage and heat, you'd arrive drenched.
Tuk Tuk or Van, 100 THB if you are alone, maybe 50 THB if you share with others.

If you are fast enough at the Lao immigration, you might also have a chance to catch the bus that goes on to Savannakhet.
From Bus station, it's do-able by walk, approx 1 Km.
You get your visa the next day at 2 PM.
After, take a tuktuk to the bridge, pass lao immigration, and take a bus ticket to Mukdahan.

That's a good summary. I like to book an extra day and go the second day to the consulate. Then I'm rested and clean. This time I arrived at the Sunday. So it was perfect anyway.

If someone cannot from bus station to consulate he is either handicapped or too fat ass to have a life.

Nah, as I mentioned before. After a 12 hour ride on the bus I don't want to walk in the heat with the baggage. I prefer to spent this 50 Baht. Go to the hotel, take a shower. After then I love to walk around.

  10. As stated i was not impressed it had only just opened mind but first impressions and all that i wouldnt stay there again. Luckily it was only one night stop over not visa related. On our way back from driving holiday. But others say they like it so!!

I liked it. There is a restaurant. 5 star ice or so... Ice cream, Thai food and beer.

However, one thing is for sure. The locals are very friendly and helpful. Lovely people these Savannakhetians.

  11. Marriage no problem. It has gotten harder to get them for being 50 or over for retirement is why I asked.
You get a tuk tuk to the consulate from the bridge or walk from the bus station to the consulate (it is not far away).

Your right ubonjoe, it's not far away. But in the heat and with baggage after a 12 hour ride, it can be a challenge.
