Report Cannabis Chaos: 12,000 Thai Shops Face Closure Under New Rules
Sydebolle replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I never touched the stuff and have no intention to start with it now. Yet, typically Thai, while the SMEs try to make ends meet ....... the authorities come and move the ends. Of course 90% were optimists and try everything and everybody well knowing, that they might fail due to lack of experience, working capital, marketing, the works ...... Some others might have tried and were steamrollered by all the incompetent "competition" which just f-a-rted into the trade until there was no air left to breathe. Billions of Baht down the drain again but, as long as the horns of plenty are replenished with taxpayers money to inject programmes like the digital wallet or the presently limping half-half-tourism-promotion ....... -
Tourism Pattaya’s Nightlife Workers Receive Aid Amid Tourism Slump
Sydebolle replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
There are more than plenty of jobs anywhere in Thailand even for lower skilled staff. All this whining over the poor left-behinds at Pattaya's walking street is barking up the wrong tree. Almost any restaurant anywhere in Thailand, be it Korat, Udon, Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai, has signs out "looking for staff". All those do-gooders and tree huggers might have to learn Thai reading and then tell those suffering underlings, that one has to WORK for money! -
Video Outrage as Tourists Caught Urinating on Pattaya Beach
Sydebolle replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
a) apart from huge, mostly broken, screens along the beach one still has to find public toilets available to anyone along the beach b) I've seen hundreds of Thais, mostly drivers, peeing along wherever they stopped to poles, walls and if someone wants more detailed studies, visit the food stalls along lower Sukhumvit after 11pm. Most Soi going off Sukhumvit smell of urine as none of those food vendors offer toilets c) while the stench is less than pleasant it is noteworthy, that if this is the only liquid "pollution" being released in public, then Thailand might just have become the cleanest country on the planet. Stop this bashing of non-Thais, if your own people do the same or even worse. Stop splurging money into absolute nonsense as long as there might be the possibility to erect 50 - 100 toilets along the beach in Pattaya, Jomtien as well as all other beaches facing the Gulf of Thailand. -
Report Red Bull's Yoovidhya Tops as Thailand's Rich List Revealed

The source of Krating Daeng envelopes to keep the next generation out of trouble? Just wondering and asking for a friend 😉 -
Given the fact, that Thailand entered another 1st in the Guinness Book of Records on Thursday ...... no wonder. The entry was for Thailand being the first country to have the third Prime Minister in a week since Monday, and that was yesterday - Thursday. Well done, keep up the good work and carry on serving people, nation and monarchy to the best of your abilities - what a farçe and shame for Thailand and its people who certainly would deserve much better than this circus show of poorly acting muppet puppets 😞

Gun fodder explained; and this is 21st century, the world knows about it and NOBODY is doing anything against it. I just wonder what they tell those North Korean boys and men prior to boarding the train; quite a few of them on a one-way ticket.   Ah .... how stupid of me, the same must be the case in previous stints by the West in Iraq, Afghanistan etc. where EU bodybags returned stuffed from the battle fields of "democracy". Same happened to 58,220 Americans 50+ years ago in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos - to this day nobody could come up with a simple explanation, what the Americans were doing on the other side of the planet ..... and do not come with the story of "stopping communism" 😞

Report Thai Woman Seeks Justice After Pet Cat Found Grilled
Sydebolle replied to snoop1130's topic in Eastern Thailand News
Yet another case of "cat corpse desecrator"? Bon appétit - in that case! With every new day there are more things I completely fail to understand; this one might be the winner for the 1st half year 2568 😞 -
In all fairness, Thais do not deserve a better, more honest government. If you see all this manure coming by the trainloads and still nobody stands up against all this cheating, corruption and inability to get anything right for their own people, then they have to accept what they get - if at all - and that's exactly where we are today. The third prime minister in a week and it is only Thursday 😉

Politics Defence Minister Post Vacant Amid Thai Cabinet Reshuffle
Sydebolle replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well, if the gifted goons of the government seriously consider war issues with its neighbour, then it might be helpful to fill the vacancy ......... or start talking common sense - your call! I - for one - would suggest common sense for the time being; the defense ministry runs also without a minister for a moment .... or two .... or more! -
5 year licence renewal Khon Kaen
Sydebolle replied to yardrunner's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Not quite so, in Nong Khai the DLT insisted on a pink ID card for the issuance of an international driver's license based on the Thai license. Was a walk in the park though, giggling and laughing for 60 Baht and an hour later I was back at the DLT. Officer there had changed (first one out for lunch/pipi break?), the new guy did not even look at it and gave me the blue-inked copy back "no need". There you go. Thailand's bureaucracy is in absolute overdrive and their inferiority complex towards anything non-Thai is reaching new heights daily -

Random Immigration Checks
Sydebolle replied to Jake72's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Alternatively go for a permanent resident permit (TM17); doable and not quite 100K if married or not quite 200K without Thai spouse - official fee against receipt. Once you have that, Bob's your uncle and the only thing you require is a re-entry visa (usually valid for one year). No more visa, 90-days, TM30, TM47 and whatever else the mother-of-all-bureaucrats come up with. The IO will not visit you either as there is nothing to check. -

Politics Prawit Slams Coup Rumors, Urges PM to Resign
Sydebolle replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
a) Prawatch did not move an inch despite various calls of stepping down from his napping sedan chair b) the military is not here to think but to execute; the thinking is done by the government under which the military serves on the behest of the voters who put the government into power. But maybe he napped during those basic classes of democracy as well 😞 -
Report Thai Abbot Sues Bank Over Alleged 1.3 Billion Baht Embezzlement
Sydebolle replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
The Men of the Cloth and their relation to donations ............. The only thing which is most likely is, that the bank is not at fault. The bureaucracy of this medieval banking system here does simply not allow such "deviations" to happen. Maybe some brethren in saffron robes residing in the same temple might be able to shed some light onto the subject, who knows .......... -
Report Thailand Tightens Alcohol Sales: New Rules Take Effect
Sydebolle replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
A retired friend of mine got fined at Jomtien Beach for sipping a stubby after 2pm, during vacation, by some "officers" who creamed him for 2,000 Baht. Prior to that he spent up to six winter months between Phuket, Hua Hin and Jomtien as he loves the beaches. After that incident he moved on and now we meet in Bali or Sri Lanka - where there are no such questionable laws without any substance nor intention to lighten USD 60 from a beach vacationer. -
Politics PM's Conversation with Cambodian Leader Sparks Corruption Probe
Sydebolle replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The National Anti-Corruption Commission probes a private phone conversation and confirms a complaint being lodged prompting preliminary initial fact-gathering and transcript investigation over a 10-days timeline? Do everybody, from affected persons to the tax payer who finances such silliness the huge favour and just shut down this commission, will you please? What has this conversation to do with corruption? The novice PM walked straight into an open knife of her father’s “close” friend she trusted. No Thai entity can touch Hun Sen apart from lodging a diplomatic note via the Cambodian Embassy to Thailand and the Thai Embassy to Cambodia …… where it will sink into eternity. She goofed up, no argument about that, reprimand her, run a non-confidence vote, but get on with real issues this country is facing and it is a HUGE mountain of unfinished problems. But no, it is being grossly misused by Tom, Dick and Harry for personal gain, political tug-of-war, slandering and insults all add to the tremendous loss of face. Carrying on through an NACC makes not only the prima-inter-pares having lost face already but turns entire Thailand into a ridiculous joke which is, again, run by a bunch of greedy, self-centered clowns. How sad; Thailand and its people would deserve so much better 😞 -
Politics Prawit Targets Paetongtarn Over Diplomatic Missteps with Cambodia
Sydebolle replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Children, come fast and have a look, the pudding can talk ............ Go back to nap, old geezer, focus on things you understand something. Sure she got lured onto thin ice which broke in but what does one expect from an inexperienced "politician"; Thaksin and Hun Sen, both are to blame for having thrown her under the bus. The old toad geezer now puts up his unsolicited frat while Anutin with glossy eyes thinks "knives out". All this has nothing to do with governing a country, Thailand would deserve soooooooooooo much better than this concentration of clowns -

Politics Parliament Showdown Looms as Bhumjaithai Seeks to Oust PM
Sydebolle replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well, while I certainly agree on that point, my fear is "what's next"? Anutin is equally power-horny like a small poodle and would also throw anybody in his way under the bus. Most of these MPs are there for the money and little interest in running the country, as long as the uneducated electorate is controlled with 500 Baht/vote against being able to do afterwards, what they want. What has been going on over the last few months has absolutely nothing to do in steering Thailand through murky waters, looking professionally into how to tackle economy, tourism and investment. This here is nothing but a tent of seriously professional circus clowns. Paetongtarn with zero experience fell nose forward into a nasty trap by Hun Sen - a despicable Khmer Rouge relict who should have been locked away while throwing away the keys. The MP is puppet mastered by her father who already sacrificed his own sister for pure personal power gain and maintenance. So is this, what Thailand is in 2025; nothing learnt since 1932? Seriously?
