  1. Everybody in the picture has gathered very very close - and that tape measure is impressive - wonder what it proves? Evidently their training doesn't cover those scenarios where a second bomb has been placed and timed to go off once the 1st responders arrive. Of course, if the training didn't cover it then it would never ever happen... would it?

And what is that Guy measuring.

    jb1

Perhaps a length of Primacord (ie.,detonation cord) filled with Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate (PETN).

  2. Holy Moley!.......Now I've read everything! Sheeshhh........? Progressive forces? Did I miss something taking place in Thailand over the last 4 Months? Could it be that this has-been is implying that Kuhn Suthep and his cohorts are the Progressive Force that will bring the Kingdom to the Crossroads or perhaps the Abyss? If so, why stop there Kuhn Kasit Piromya? Just say he is the NEW Moral Compass of Thailand! A genuine beacon of light in the darkness of Thai Politics. These so called progressive forces must man up and earn that title with a WIN at the ballot box! Let all eligible voters have an unobstructed opportunity to cast their vote in order to decide any future Path for the Kingdom to take.

  3. I have used the following Travel Agency in Bangkok several times for travel and VISA's and received the best service possible every time. Give them a call or visit and see if they can help you out on your plan. Good Luck! It is:

    Sukhumvit Branch
Vega Travel & Trading Co., Ltd.

    155/20 Soi 11/1, Sukhumvit Road
    Near Swiss Park Hotel
    Klontoei Bangkok 10110, THAILAND
    Tel: +66 2255 8393-4
    Fax: +66 2255 8395

Angkor Wat is amazing. Also, while in Siem Reap, have a sandwich. The sandwich shoppes there make them with fresh baked French bread. Simply delicious! thumbsup.gif

  4. WOW! One thing is for sure after reading all of these posts. It's the fact that many keyboard, armchair and bar stool Diplomats are members of Thai Visa. The opinions expressed here go from one end of the spectrum to the other. I guess it's because opinions are just like a55holes. Everybody's got one! cheesy.gif

  5. Go to the Lebua Hotel (State Tower) at 1055 Silom Road, Bangrak, Bangkok after dark and up to the Sky Bar for a drink with your wife. The Sky Bar is outdoors on the 63rd floor and offers a fantastic panoramic view of Bangkok. It is pricey, but it will be romantic and truly memorable for the both of you during your stay.

  6. "Kotee earlier announced on a community radio station which he runs calling on the red-shirt people to kidnap Mah-Gen Wara Boonyasit, commander of the First Division of the Royal Guards, and Col Songwit Noonpakdi, commander of the 11thInfantry Regiment."

The guy must have a death wish!

    What's gotten in to him?

Previously, the Red Shirt Leader Ko Tee had always come across as a quiet, peaceful, and mild-mannered man.

You just don't take a knife to a gunfight. It's just a NO brainer!

  7. A few years back I took the train from Huamlamphong Station to Sungai Kalok down South. Then a motorbike to the Malaysia border. Crossed it and then took a Taxi to the Thai Consulate in Kota Bharu. I received a 60 day single entry Tourist VISA the first time. Then I did the same trip a second time and received a 60 day multiple entry Tourist VISA. No hassles or problems each time back then. The rail trip is long and a bit harsh. Also, the Thai Consulate in Kota Bharu is closed on Fridays and Saturdays in respect to Islam Religion in Malaysia.

  8. I found the following info regarding the "Blacklist" from this forum. I am not sure how old it is, but because this is Thailand, I doubt any thing has changed for the better. Sorry for the length, but it has important information for all. Here it goes:

Thai Immigration Blacklist PERSONS NOT WANTED IN THE KINGDOM OF THAILAND Persona Non Grata

    1. Those having no genuine and valid passport or document that can be used in lieu of a passport; or those having a genuine and valid passport or document for use in lieu of a passport without a visa issued by Royal Thai Embassies or consulates in foreign countries or by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Exceptions are aliens for whom no visa is required in certain special instances.

    2. Those who have no appropriate means of earning a living once they have entered the Kingdom.

    3. Those who, having entered the Kingdom to take up employment as laborers or practice other forms of manual work that require no special skill or training, or who violate the Alien Employment Act.

    4. Those who are mentally unstable or who suffer from any of the diseases proscribed in the Ministerial Regulations. ©

    5. Those who have not been vaccinated against smallpox or inoculated or undergone any other medical treatment for protection against contagious diseases, and have refused to have such vaccinations administered by the Immigration Bureau doctor.

    6. Those who have been imprisoned by the judgment of a Thai court or by a lawful injunction, or by the judgment of the court of a foreign country, except when the penalty is for a petty offence or negligence or is specifically cited as an exception in the Ministerial Regulations.

    7. Those who have exhibited behavior which would indicate possible danger to the public or the likelihood of their being a public nuisance, a threat to the peace or safety of the public, or the security of the public or the nation, including those under warrant of arrest by competent officials of foreign governments.

    8. Those for whom there is reason to believe that entrance into the Kingdom is for the purpose of being involved in prostitution, the trading of women or children, drug smuggling or other activities that are contrary to public morality.

    9. Those having no money or bond as prescribed by the Minister under Section 14. (d)

    10. Those categorized as persona non grata by the Minister under Section 16. (e)

    11. Those who have been deported by either the Government of Thailand or that of another foreign country; those who have been sent out of the Kingdom by competent officials at the expense of the Government of Thailand unless the Minister makes an exemption on an individual, special-case basis.

c Leprosy, infectious tuberculosis, chronic elephantiasis, drug addiction, tertiary syphilis. d Reference: announcement of the Ministry of Interior, dated 8 May B.E. 2543 (A.D.2000).

    (1) At least of 10,000 baht for a holder of a transit visa or "visa not required" category and visa on arrival (at least of 20,000 baht for a family).

    (2) At least of 20,000 baht for a holder of a tourist visa or non-immigrant visa (at least of 40,000 baht for a family).

In instances where, for reasons of national welfare or the safeguarding of the public peace, culture, morality or welfare, or when the Minister considers it improper to allow any foreigner or group of foreigners to enter the Kingdom, the Minister shall have the power to exclude the said foreigner or group of foreigners from entering the Kingdom.

IMMIGRATION BLACKLIST – PERSONA NON GRATA

In cases of persons prohibited by the Ministry under Section 16 (foreigners who have been imprisoned for criminal offences involving work in professions or occupations that are prohibited by law, with exception made for minor offences, or offences committed through negligence), the Immigration Bureau will submit their names and histories to the Minister of Interior for a decision concerning the possible prohibition of the person or persons concerned from entering the Kingdom.

No time limitations apply in cases of persona non grata status, so that in cases where a person who is prohibited from entering the kingdom has died, his or her children may encounter problems upon attempting to enter the country, should they share a common name. In such cases, the full name and date of birth of the applicant must be checked.

  9. Why is it the police have to wait for an accident to charge these drivers. If they'ed only get off there ass and charge all the rest of the idiot bus and mini van drivers.

Charge people before they have committed a crime? With what exactly?

Have you received a Darwin Award lately?

Maybe you didn't realise that you can be arrested for a driving violation without being in an accident, ie driving like an idiot..

Darwin Awards are usually given to dead people. ie people who kill themselves do stupid things which follows Darwin's theory of Evolution that hopefully the low IQ ones will kill themselves before they get to breed.ie awarded post humously

So as Hobiecat can write and therefore is alive, I don't think he can receive a Darwin award,

Explanation of the "Darwin Awards" from Wikipedia as follows: The criterion for the awards states, "In the spirit of Charles Darwin, the Darwin Awards commemorate individuals who protect our gene pool by making the ultimate sacrifice of their own lives. Darwin Award winners eliminate themselves in an extraordinarily idiotic manner, thereby improving our species' chances of long-term survival."

  10. I would suggest a large roll of quality duct tape. I just bought a large roll myself at Lowe's and it will return to Thailand with me in two weeks. I also went to WALMART and bought a large box of Kellogg's Rice Krispies and Special K and General Mill's Cheerio's breakfast cereals. Also, 2 large containers of Progresso Italian flavored bread crumbs for my pork chops. I also stocked up on prescription drugs that are not available in Thailand. Duct tape, groceries and medicines perhaps? biggrin.png

  11. If the powers that be, really wanted to grab Suthep, they would practice, practice, practice an operation involving helicopters and a company of police commandos for a period of time. 8 helicopters and 64 heavily armed commandos (5) swoop in from different approaches, (4) rappel down into a disoriented crowd, (3) use flash bang grenades to shock and awe, (2) apprehend Suthep and be prepared for a firefight, (1) land the choppers and return the commandos and Suthep to the choppers and leave. 5-4-3-2-1 and done.

ss:cheesy: cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif did you ever see the you tube VDO of Thai police bomb disposal tactics..hilarious. The police are incapable of anything meaningful.. The military are as seen in 2010 but they are on the wrong side, that's why it has not nor ever will happen. There may well be military plans involving taking out the Shin Gov, As with all good plans we will find out after they are executed.. In my opinion the sooner the better.

I certainly was NOT writing about the average Keystone Cops B-in-B, as I stated Police Commandos (ie., Border Police, etc.). Laugh all you want crazy.gif, but read my Post again please. I personally know a few and I am convinced that they are quite capable to pull off an operation as I wrote. And I also stated "If the powers that be", if being the key word, as I am not personally sure the powers that be want to do that kind of operation. unsure.png

  13. I have been lucky enough to have a few cool cars. #1 was a 1968 Pontiac GTO brand spanking new out of the dealer when I was 18. Then the following were all used vehicles starting with a 1965 Buick Riviera. Then, a 1964 Chevy Chevelle SS. On to , a 1967 Pontiac Tempest. Finally, that explosive gas can on wheels, a 1974 Ford Pinto, named by Forbes Magazine to be one of the "Worst cars of All Time" WooHoo! biggrin.png
