  1. There's one born every minute!

Compassion for the victims of crime is often alien to those that have never been victimized.

Often times, the victim is vulnerable due to age, education, mental status, disease, etc.

Nah.....I don't agree with you. Most ALL of the time, the victim is driven by G-R-E-E-D when it comes down to the Nigerian Scam. That's right, because the scammer will have them hooked with a very believable story and somewhere in that story is going to a part where the victim or the sucker, is going to be rewarded 10 Fold if they get involved with their spin story. Money is the motivator not vulnerability . The victims who you mentioned are more likely to be robbed or scammed of their money or other assets by a Family member, Barrister, or Money Manager rather than a Nigerian scammer.

  2. Another victim falls for the Nigerian 419 Scam. Thailand is under Martial Law and this is the perfect time for a thorough House Cleaning of all sorts. If the Police cannot do the House Cleaning job, then the Army must! Any Police Official caught having a hand in this dirt or any other dirt must and will be transferred to any of the 3 Southern Provinces immediately for foot patrol. thumbsup.gif

  3. I've only been to these Mega Malls just a few times, and most of the stores I see are empty of shoppers. Plus, most of the strollers in the Mall are carrying no shopping bags. The only businesses I see thriving are in the food courts, pharmacies or the little kiosks in the center that sell cremes, cosmetics and beauty products to female customers. I think most people in the Malls are window shopping and taking advantage of the air conditioning to beat the heat outdoors. smile.png

  4. If you have a severe case of Claustrophobia, I would recommend that you see a Psychiatrist in you nearest Hospital, explain how severe your anxiety is and ask for a supply of Xanax (Alprazolam) .5mg or Rivotril (Clonazepam) 2mg to treat it prior to you boarding the plane. It will relax you and provide you with a nice nap without any medicine taste in your mouth after you wake up. I take them to treat my Insomnia. Great stuff really. They are both a controlled substance and are only available in Hospital Pharmacies. Chok Dee! thumbsup.gif

  5. Maybe this guy has attention deficit disorder.

He chooses one of the nicest hotels in Pattaya and then chooses

the oldest and ugliest woman he could find.

I'd rather get a modest room and a varoom-varoom companion.

To each his own -- but, I will never understand how some farangs

    have such bad taste.

I think that's because the more he drank the better she started to look. By the time He stopped drinking, He was looking at her through Beer Glass burp.gif Goggles and thought She was a real stunner! Also, with this type of Publicity I think whoever was at the front desk at the Dusit that let her in with him is now looking for another job.

  6. DEAR OP,

I have a similar situation, if you are from the U.S. , some banks, ie: TMB would not open any new accounts for U.S. expats due to the new reporting rules(IRS in the U.S.), they stated I could keep my accounts but also could not open any new accounts.

You are quite right that the Banks are now refusing to open accounts due to "America World Police" wanting the banks to fill in multiple forms everytime they open an account for any foreigner not just Americans. They also have to fill out forms on every transaction over a certain amount as the US is targeting money launderers, terrorists and the like. I have a Bangkok Bank Account, a mutual fund account and several time deposits. Three months ago I tried to open a new 4 month time deposit and was refused until I threatened to go to one of my friend who is a Director of Bangkok. The employee then told me that because of all the paperwork and reporting to the America World Police they tried to avoid the cost against opening and maintaining the account. We filled out 4 forms for the Americans even though I am British. Who do the Americans think they are!

I also had an account for many years with HSBC Thailand but HSBC decided to close down their retail banking operations due to the cost of reporting to the Americans every transaction over a certain amount. So it is not just U.S. Expats that the U.S. are causing problems to. Their are noises from the UK government that they may also require reporting in the future.

Are you saying that even if you are not an American, the American government still tracks your accounts worldwide?

I do not believe this! They simply don't have the right to do so!

It is just for Americans with accounts, investments, etc. overseas. It is called FACTA or Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act. Read about it at: http://www.thailand-lawyer.com/thailand-attorney/thailand-signs-agreement-to-assist-us-in-tax-collection/ facepalm.gif

  7. I would recommend that you have both sides of the cards printed with all your Business details. One side in English and the other side in Thai. Just check the proof that they send you for 100%% accuracy. There were several mistakes on the English side when I received my proof, however no mistakes on the Thai side. Just a friendly suggestion, as the Thai printed side impresses Thai people when I conduct business with them. Naturally, that's the side I present first. They read it out loud, look up and smile. It just makes good business sense. thumbsup.gif

  8. Condom dispensing machines should be placed in every restroom facility in every School and University across the kingdom. Plus, the condom should be made available for FREE. Yes, NO charge for the condom at all. The National Health Scheme should pick up the cost of this program. I don't believe it will promote sexual intercourse to teenagers, but it will promote safe sex and help prevent unwanted pregnancies. If young people are going to engage in sexual intercourse, they're going to do it regardless what is taught to them as in "abstinence". Teenager's hormones are at peak level and it is only natural for them to want to engage in sex. Education and promoting condom use should be available in every School if any Official is really serious about the issue. A real "No Glove - No Love!" program. thumbsup.gif

  9. I thought the street vendors were half the attraction of Khao San with the majority of tourists visiting there?

Yes, Khaosan is often one of the first destinations for young travellers. It is seen as an exotic, yet safe way to begin travels during "gap" years etc. How many people have good memories of Thailand from their experiences in Khaosan and years later come back with their families and stay in more upmarket resorts, spend a whole lot more baht and are the type of tourists that TAT really wants to attract.

Kill that seed and the crop will never grow. Turn Khaosan into another sanitised Orchard Road and what is the reason for coming here at all?

Another point - many of the tour operators there are geared up to send travellers off to their own family owned hotels in the provinces. This actually spreads the wealth more to the grass roots than any government organised system ever could.

Much of Thailand's population is only one or two steps removed from a producer . vendor . consumer model. It supports vast numbers of people and keeps prices low. Control and regulate it like a western middleman dominated society and prices go up, uniqueness disappears and you need to raise taxes to fund a welfare system to support all the newly unemployed former entrepreneurs.

Yes tidy is nice, but how many TV member would pull up stumps totravel to or move to Albuquerque - America's tidiest town ... simply because of its tidiness?

Who's really going to go to Albuquerque for any reason??

  10. This guy knows how to make a buck. Having those swollen legs for the passerby's to see. They donate some money out of human kindness and compassion. Feeling sorry for this unfortunate wretched creature. Then when it time to have a drink.....BINGO.......it's Party Time! It's gotta be 5 PM someplace on the Planet! Danke Schoen! Ein Prosit der Gemutlichkeit! Oktoberfest in Pattaya everyday of the year! crazy.gif.pagespeed.ce.dzDUUqYcHZ.gif

  11. If that's a pair of bloomers pictured in Pattaya One comprised of both the British and American Flags, I think they belonged to "Magilla Gorilla"! With a huge size of underwear like that, he could have used it for a sleeping bag instead of just putting them on his head. Plus, look at the disgust in the victim's face, while she's performing a Lobotomy on the back of his head with her fingernail. Also, this individual was treated(?) for mental illness in Bangkok previously, which obviously did not work. What treatment should he receive next for his thievery and fetish. Let's hear from all the bar stool psychologists and mental help therapists on TV. Your suggested treatment would be.........? crazy.gif

Maybe you could have changed your avatar before posting on such a topicblink.png

    ( wink.png )

Ha Ha Ha! Don't you worry now! The Missus has all of hers accounted for, including her favourite green ones. Plus, we don't live in or near Pattaya. So, hopefully her knickers are safe! Ha Ha Ha! thumbsup.gif

  12. 99 year lease, US $1 -- yes, that's a lot of money!

    <snip>

Probably the most famous place they take them is to "Gitmo," for Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba. The US leased that bay and land from Cuba a long time ago and pays a lot of money to Cuba to use it as a military base.

    <snip>

Incorrect on the $1.00 per year or the 99 Year lease. Info from Wiki: Guantanamo Bay Naval Base (also called GTMO and pronounced gitmo by the US Military personnel stationed there) is located on 45 square miles (120 km2) of land and water at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, which the United States leased for use as a coaling and naval station in the Cuban–American Treaty of 1903 (for $2,000 until 1934, for $4,085 since 1938 until now) So, the USA has been there for 111 continuous years and will remain there in perpetuity. Also, since the time of Fidel Castro's takeover of Cuba, The Cuban Government has refused the yearly check and demanded that the USA leave Cuban Territory. Like that's gonna happen any time soon. coffee1.gif

  14. moronic repressive policy

All you'll get this way is more kids in trouble and without education

How about investing in prevention rather than repression?

Nope, that's too next century for us

Moronic repressive policy? Lets talk this Century, because we both won't be around for the next one. Pure Rubbish regarding investing in any type of prevention, complete waste of money! Counseling, hugs, teddy bears, group therapy, holding hands, meditation, Kum By Yah!? As if that has not been tried for years with out success. Progressive ideology such as yours has proven to be a total and dismal failure. It just don't work, (PERIOD!) Why do you think so many of youthful offenders are in detention centers, jails, prisons around the Globe? It's due to the failure of a progressive moronic prevention policy. These wanna be thugs are under the spell of peer pressure to do mayhem and harm to others. They attack in packs like wolves. Focusing on their victims like heat seeking missiles. "Spare the rod and spoil the Child?", obviously is a term You are unfamiliar with. Administrative Punishment for First Offense = Caning @10 Lashes is the only solution to the problem. Stepped increases for multiple offenders, if applicable, which I highly doubt would be necessary.
