Weighing passengers to become standard for Bangkok Airways

555 maybe the idea is to sell seats per kilogram? Fewer kilos less expensive to fly. -
Second hand car import / lift of ban
jaideedave replied to oustaristocrats's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I've owned a couple of HDs here over the years.I've been asked a dozen times by someone with a special model they would like to import. Standard answer is "don't even bother" unless you know someone who actually works for/at customs. It just isn't worth the hassle. -
Second hand car import / lift of ban

XJ> As an example I have a friend who restores vintage HDs.He was contacted to restore a mid 1920s classic. Quite rare in LOS. Covid and various other reasons prevented completion.Guess who the Thai owner was? A retired customs officer. My friend was at his residence and he had a couple of buildings chock full of vintage collectable stuff. No doubt in my mind he acquired this loot by similar circumstances as your Mustang friend was victim to. I've heard of many tales over the years of people just abandoning their possessions at customs due to red tape and prohibitive arbitrary duties and no recourse. -

How to throw out my girlfriend's son out of the house?
jaideedave replied to organicman's topic in Family and Children
"she's in her 40s now...Are there men with means lining up to take her away to Valhalla? She could possibly be thinking of her future with a farang around to pay the bills? Shes probably trying to find a way to keep the peace and the kid. Its her son and the foreigner could dissappear tomorrow. -
How to throw out my girlfriend's son out of the house?
jaideedave replied to organicman's topic in Family and Children
If he attacks the son to throw him out some actions may result: a/ the son returns with 10 mates b/ the mother sides with her son and calls the cops c/ the son calls the cops d/ the OP gets thrown out by the mother "Blood is thicker than water" at the end of the day it's her son and thats all that counts. OP just may be an ATM source. She will take his side even though fighting all the time.I've seen it happen to me in a similar situation. Sonny boy will have friends and we all know how they like to gang up. I think a lot of them have weapons under that seat. a/b/c/d/ can apply for sure. -
I agree 100% on your observation.Back in the day before Thai Friendly etc. the easiest option was hunt the beer bars as we did. Now one doesn't even have to leave the comfort of his home. You can just order in same as a pizza. Less expensive and a larger selection IMHO. 555 Yes it seems a lot of blokes arrive here and get a Go Pro camera and trip over each other marching up and down the same old tired sois. The"buy me a beer" brigade is alive and well in Pattaya. It must be embarrassing at times. They must be skint for the most part because what else would motivate them to "wash rinse repeat" ?

I appreciate your frustration.A few years ago I made a small purchase at Amorn shop in Tucom. I erred in that it was the wrong part I needed. I returned it unopened with receipt and politely asked for a refund. It was only a couple hundred baht but I used to but a lot of stuff from them before online shopping became so convenient. The sales guy refused and I tried to plead my case,He made a call and put me on the line with a Thai English speaker who grilled me good. After a back and forth of several minutes he very reluctantly approved the refund. You would have thought I was returning a Rolex watch with fuss they made. Moral of the story. In hindsight I should have just tossed the item into the nearest trash bin and had a cold beer.

Very few Europeans, Australians, Kiwis, Americans and Canadians are visiting now. I'm a Canuck here and now but I'm thinking its got to do with the higher cost of living. Anyone who had a mortgage of 2-3 % and have to renew at 5-6 % is in for a shock along with the cost of everything else rising. On my 1st visit (1990) I never noticed many Indians, Chinese or Arabs. Now the demographic has changed dramatically. For the most part my drinking days are behind me so it really doesn't affect me.

29 state officials accused of involvement in precious wood trafficking

What is it about this country? Hardly a week goes by where some gov't official/employee or school administrator, or official isn't implicated in some sort of theft, embezzlement,or bribe taking incident. The even nabbed an ISOC Security Officer. There's no one left to trust. I know the salaries are not high but they sure make up for it. (40 mil) -
‘Russian-only’ businesses in Thailand’s Phuket spark backlash
jaideedave replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
"I couldn't work unless it was for a foreign company carrying out a major contract in Thailand and I was classed as a key worker" Years ago I worked for Amerda Hess O&G outside Udon as 'Foreign" contractor Safety Officer. I also worked for Chevron briefly offshore in the Gulf. They looked after all the work permits etc. Those jobs are all gone these days. The good old days.Maybe some specialist gigs available but that's about it. -

Back in the day a small group of us booked a 2 week vacay to the PP looking for p4p and found it in Ermita district. We also found it very dangerous and and generally an uncomfortable rip off everywhere. After 1 week we rebooked our tickets back to LOS and never looked back.
