  1. does ur motherboard support 800mhz ddr2?

    Sorry I'm a newbie :)

How can I check about it?

    (2.7GHz, 512KB L2 Cache, 2000 MHz Bus)

ok after doing some search ur motherboard does support 800mhz rams.

you could just get some kingston DDR2 800mhz Valuerams

    Memory • Four 240-pin DDR2 800/667/533/400 MHz SDRAM slots

    • Support up to 4 GB system memory

  2. Virtual Memory is your computer using your hard drive as RAM. RAM is critical for your computers performance, saying that you have run out of it means that your computer is running more programs that it can currently handle. To increase it manually you can right click on 'my computer' go to properties then click on the advanced tab, under performance click settings, click on the advanced tab, and in the virtual memory click change. I wouldn't recommend going higher than the total amout of actual RAM times 1.5, going any higher might actually slow your system down. Also since your Hard Drive is actually a little slower than the RAM itself, so if possible, you might want to buy more RAM for your computer. If not, virtual memory is the free way to go.

To increase VM on Windows XP (should be in similar locations for other versions) look in Control Panel: System, Advanced, Performance Settings, Advanced, Virtual Memory.

  3. are all True shops doing that deal?

Yes , you can check it on True's website.

    16GB - instant payment = 5,999 baht

    24mths installment = 24 * 770.88 = 18,501.12 baht

    package plan - 400baht * 24 = 9,600baht

total = 34,100.12 baht = total what ur paying for the iphone 16GB on the Package B.

    Package A 16GB

    Instant Pay - None

    24mths installment - 1,020.83baht * 24 = 24,499.92baht

    Package Plan - 599 * 24 = 14,376

    Total = 38,875.92baht for 16GB on Package A

Package A has unlimited 3G and 1MB WiFi.

Package B has 10hrs of 3G and 20hrs of WiFi.

And if i were you , i'd wait it out till Apple fixes that overheating problem.

  4. Thanks, that motherboard and graphics card do look good.

But 2 x 2GB RAM sticks would only make sense for a 64 bit system, right? At least I have read 32 bit systems will only detect 3GB of RAM, is this correct? I am not sure I want to go 64 bits yet, it seems that most software is still developed mainly for 32 bits.

even if all 32bit operating systems detect 3gb of ram , doesnt hurt to have a matched pair of rams

and that xtra 1gb of ram would be handy if you intend to upgrade to windows 7 64bit :)

  5. Shortened lifespan is not the question here, as it’s not overclocking at all; anyway, I am not defending that trick for quad core ability. I said I did mine (some 2 months ago) and it is working absolute till now. If someone interested, Google is always there.

And I repeat, unlocking 550 is is a piece of cake; don’t need any skills to do that. Anyway, I am not going to hijack the thread.

I was talking about Thanni services. Hope it help.

    Thanks

Thanks for the info although I am not too certain I want to follow that path for fear I will be disappointed so for now I will err on the side of caution and pay the extra

As for Thanni, it has to be said that not having a phone number to contact them is rather unnerving. They have contacted me to say that there is no one to put the machine together for me as there is no technical department at the moment !!!! So I can pay up front and hope for the best or try someone else

So I tried Shop 4 Thai and I have to say I am equally disappointed. I faxed them through a list of the parts that Space Munk had recommended and asked if they could price match the components. 2 hours later they got back to me with a link that led to a HP preassembled machine that they recommended. When my wife rang them to explain it was not what I wanted, they told her they didnt have some of the parts............. but didnt say which parts they didnt have........... poor service to say the least

Tomorrow is another day, I will try again

    JAF

sorry to hear that they dont actually assemble components.

actually you could try JEDIcool. Im pretty sure they have all the parts and will assemble the system for you. You can actually give them a call and check if they have the parts.

  7. Any current info on the Pantip price for a 1TB Seagate SATA 7200 drive would be most appreciated.

BTW... I don't recommend anyone buy a 1.5TB drive.... I just did (WD Green SATA 5400) and it is SLOW ...

My current plan is to move it External and keep it for Seeding torrents only!!!

    Thanks,

    CS

by far the best 1TB drives i used are the Samsung Spinpoint F3 and WD Blue/Black series Drives. WD Blue drives tend to be slow.

  9. Let me know if you really want it. I can check direct with Coolermaster. Their office is around Ratchada.

any heatsink for the 1366 works with the 1156.

Thank you very much for your help!

I am wondering about this statement since Coolermaster made a new bracket for the 1156. Today I went to Pantip and I got the V8 with it for 2230 at HWH. But I am afraid this was the last one. They received it yesterday.

Got everything else too apart from my Seagate 750 GB HD - they seem not to sell it in Thailand. Will end up with WD I am afraid or with 2 Seagate 1 TB (but far too much capacity for me). Do you have any experience with WD drives? I always had Seagate and they are pretty quiet.

One more thing I cannot find here in Thailand is very clean alcohol to clean the top of the CPU. Intel does not protect it at all and so it looks. In Thailand I can only get 70 % alcohol and this with color. Too bad that Leo does not work :)

You can also clean off the old thermal compound using nail polish remover , it works just as good.

For the hard drives you can also get the WD 750 Caviar Black. Western Digital drives in Thailand have better customer service and support. Synnex changed my HDD with no questions asked.

  10. Both JediCool and TKComputer have the CM V8 listed on their sites.

Just call or e-mail to confirm stock.

Thank you for checking. I know that they have it - but not for the socket 1156. This socket is not so long on the market and so it is a bit a problem to get the cooler for it. Thanni had it but is out of stock and waiting for it. I will look in Pantip tomorrow. What an endless trip for me from Pattaya - I hate those old busses :)

Let me know if you really want it. I can check direct with Coolermaster. Their office is around Ratchada.

any heatsink for the 1366 works with the 1156.

  11. Thank you all. Great job!!! I will put here always my shopping list in the future. :)

But I am still looking for a Coolermaster V8 (for the LGA1156 - this is important) and 2 Seagate 750 GB - I don't trust WD - perhaps not justified but I always had Seagate. Then a serial cable for the MBO GIGABYTE GA-P55-UD6 (otherwise my remote control will not work anymore). The rest I can get at Thanni and JIB.

But a question to the graphic cards. Did anybody ever try 2 different graphic cards in one system. They should be independent. The new cards do not have S-Video out anymore for my old TV. And this I need for my video editing (not HD). So perhaps I could use the cheapest card for this and an expensive card for games. Will this work?

yes 2 diff cards will work.

As for the CM V8 heatsink , you could try and find the Thermalright Heatsinks like True Extreme , True Copper , True Black or the latest Megahalems. They cool way better than the CM V8 and around the same price.

And if you are not into overclocking , you dont really need a aftermarket heatsink.

  12. How did u manage to get free installation from true?! And 4mg, was it from this promotion? http://www.truecorp.co.th/eng/promotion/pr...speed8mbps.jsp#

Also was there already a TOT line fixed in the apartment as the new place has just been built and has no lines to rooms (its all going through there box in the apt).?

Yeah , its from that promotion cause im using True mobile line also so there is abit of a rebate.

Its a promo thingy that if you get internet the phone line installation fee is free.

My apartment uses TOT but the phoneline im using is by True. True actually came to install the phone line from the box and run the cable all the way right into my room
