  2. I'd wait for the AIS / DTAC packages or get a HK phone. True sucks - we have a prepaid one for UBC, it has pretty bad reception.

I have tried True WiFi on several occasions, and it was always horribly slow, much worse than most free hotspots I know. In Bangkok, it was so slow I ended up using my EDGE phone instead. And that was in a "True WiFi zone" which had True advertisements everywhere. Between the slowness and the fact that True hotspots are not nearly as wide-spread as "True" marketing releases make them out to be, I'd think the included WiFi package is pretty useless.

100 minutes is a joke, even I use more than that, the wife would use it in a day. Given that 100 mintes is nothing, overtime should really be 1 Bht/min, not 1.5Bht. Seems like they want to nickel and dime you with these plans.

True Move is offering four packages: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum. Only the Bronze package has an upfront payment. All four packages require you to pay a monthly service fee (i.e. sign a service contract) for 24 months. (What you have to pay each month after 24 months, I have no idea.) If you stay within the limits set for each package, the following is what you will end up paying after 24 months for the 16GB phone:

    Bronze: B 39,275

    Silver: B 38,376

    Gold: B 43,176

    Platinum: B 50,376

According to the website: http://www.truemove.com/iphone/eng/price_plan.htm :

the monthly limits seem to be quite low. For the Bronze and Silver plans, your use of wi-fi is limited to 20 hours a month: anything in excess is 1B per minute. That's probably fine. But for voice calls, for bronze and Silver, the limit is "100." Can that be 100 minutes a month? It must be. That's like three minutes a day! Excess charge: 1.5B/minute. Use of Edge/GPRS/3G is limited to 10 hours for the Bronze plan and 1 GB for the Silver plan. I am not sure how to interpret that. I assume this means downloads from the Internet. Excess: 1B/minute.

Im considering to switch back to AIS. True is a joke.

Im living in ratchada and in my 6th floor condo i got a 2bar reception. True WiFi i paid 450B for a full month unlimited and max speed i get on downloads was 30kb/s. :o

  3. My son sent me this link about iphone knockoffs in Thailand. He works for Apple and want's to see if I can pick one up for the novelty and for his coworkers to see also. Apparently it is a Nano that hasn't been released yet. Has anyone seen any? Where would be a good place to look. Pantip area ?

U can try MBK but im not sure if they do have the iPhone nano yet , havent seen any

  4. Im still thinking abt getting the 3G from True and jailbreak and unlock it myself

Atleast if anything goes wrong warranty wont be an issue :o

    Doesn't jailbreaking/unlocking void the warranty ?

    Ofcos it does.

    There's always a work around.

IF u need to send it in for repair just restore everything to factory settings

  5. They are not officially sold in Thailand so no Apple warranty. But you might be able to get some warranty from the shop you bought it from. Ie they'll probably be able to fix it.

    Thanks

  6. Just wanna find out if warranty for iPhones bought at MBK r covered by Apple Warranty?

Or r brand new iPhones sold in thailand not covered by any kind of warranty at all?

I just bought my iPhone v1 from MBK for maybe 2 weeks now and all along i've been wondering why the ringing volume/music played thru the phone speaker is very soft.

As i was playing around with the iPod app i discovered 1 side of my speaker wasnt functioning. There was only music coming out from 1 side of the speaker. :o

Any kind of help would be good

    Thanks.

  7. Im using the iPhone v1 as there is not much diff from the 3G.

My batt lasts max 3 - 4hrs with usage of wifi/edge , surfing , checking mails , facebook , playing games.

But now i hardly do any of the above and i only charge my iphone once every 4 days.

Location off , wifi/edge off , screen brightness turned down with auto function off.

  8. I take it the MSN webmail web page doesn't work on the iPhone, or looks crap. Why would MS make a special version for the iPhone. Gmail and I assume others look perfect on the iPhone, I sometimes even use Gmail on Safari instead of the built-in mail.

Is there an application that lets you read MSN emails? What's it called? If not, there might be an opportunity to write one...

Check out mBox Mail. This is a true native app that is lightning fast and syncs all your folders. Even more features than the built-in mail app. You can use hotmail.com, live.com, msn.com and even other domains that use hotmail.
