  1. Sorry to disagree, many countries such as the USA, UK, NEW ZEALAND, AUSTRALIA and many others applied strict rules, in that if you have had a custodial sentence or even been found guilty or criminial or civil offence at any time in your life, then you must report it when applying for a visa, (you sign also to that effect).

Simple really! It does not automatically preclude you getting a visa, unless of course you have already not disclosed the prior problem in your life.

    Best wishes

  2. I think the Teflon bit is over rated. It becomes brittle after a while. I've noticed bits of Teflon Crap in my eggs. Hard to swallow that.

Never ever had a problem with Teflon pans, they on average last 2-3 years and I am okay with that...mind you I don't buy the cheap crappy ones either...as they say "You get what you pay for!"

  3. It is the rainy season and KC is pretty much the wettest place in Thailand. I've been to KC twice in august. Never again.

Koh Larn is totally over run with tourists now. Water Quality is getting bad. Been reportted on many news sites lately.

Better off by going to Hua Hin or Bang Saray (if you like quiet) or most likely better off waiting until say December, but even then KC will still be most likely wet!

  4. The worst time for motorcycles on foot paths in Sukhumvit is in the evening. I've been run into twice riders weaving between pedestrians , it's annoying.

What happened to the police busting these riders, didn't last long..

I partly agree with you, but what about the pedestrians who walk along the road and see a moped in his way and then ignore him! Just as bad!

  5. Sounds like an extortionate amount to me.. last (private) hospital visit I had was under 300 for a 15 min consultation with a specialist, an xray, analysis of it, and a medical report.

HA! Ha! When was it 300 baht! Not in the last 5-10 years sorry!

But I think "redmann" was taken advaantage of, being charged a consultation just for results, I personally have not had that before and might have queried or argued that cost.

Whilst there are many problems etc with Thai hospitals though, I think its normally the overpricing of meds etc that are the issue, rather than the Doctors consultation charge.

    Better luck next time!

  6. Generally the problem is poorly laid tiles in the 1st place, ie onto earth covered with gravel, regardless I never see anyone use grout sealer AFTER the grout has been applied! You can buy this at Homepro, Homemart.

    Then no problems!

  7. Lloyds Bank have my Thai address and automatically send to me to Thailand, my new credit and debit cards, also every month my statements to Thailand...same as other bank accounts that I have.

    I've never had any problems.

lloyds will not send cards outside of uk there ok with abroad address but that's about as far as service goes

also if your pin needs renewing they send a pin with a 14 day expiry and the letter typically takes up to 3 weeks standard post i asked for expedited post their reply no can do system computerized

  8. I bought some in Friendship supermarket last week, 200+ baht, quite good. The only place I ever see it.

Its not at Tesco or Big C or Makro.

  9. So age 66, limited income, nil pension and now you are thinking about the future?

What happens if you pass away?

Back to the village, your child will be treated as a low class mixed blood by virtually everyone, surely you don't want that.

Rethink what you want and why?

    (I really sometimes wonder!)

  10. Thailand confirms first MERS case: Health ministry
BANGKOK:-- (Reuters) - Thailand confirmed its first case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) on Thursday, becoming the fourth Asian country to register the deadly virus this year.

Public Health Minister Rajata Rajatanavin told a news conference that a 75-year-old businessman from Oman had tested positive for MERS.
"From two lab tests we can confirm that the MERS virus was found," Rajata said, adding the man had travelled to Bangkok for medical treatment for a heart condition.
"The first day he came he was checked for the virus. The patient ... contracted the MERS virus."
The health minister said 59 others were being monitored for the virus, including three of the man's relatives who travelled with him to Bangkok.
MERS is caused by a coronavirus from the same family as the one that triggered China's deadly 2003 outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).

I feel this could bad news here, Thailand will just deny any spread.

  11. Oh no!! You got a virus!!! Start taking this that and everything!

Seriously you dont need anything, just keep eating lightly and some fluids, a little rest and you will back to normal!

Or you can start taking: Low Dose Naltrexone, kefir every day, B vitamins for sore muscles, Zinc supplement, vitamin C and a host of other maybe cures! Ha Ha!

  12. Last week I got a resident certificate on a 30 day "Visa" on arrival from Jomtien / Pattaya Immigration, I then renewed my Thai bike licence and bought a new bike no problems!

To the best of my knowledge and experience you can renew your licence on any visa (certainly in Chiang Mai anyway).

The problem you may have will likely be with proof of address, if you do not have a yellow book then the most usual proof of address is a paper from immigration or a letter from your embassy/consulate. Clearly the paper from immigration is not going to happen if you are on a Tourist visa, but I'd check and see of you can get a letter from consulate, as a British citizen that's always been an option for me.
