My GF applied three weeks ago on a Thursday she recieved a call on the following Tuesday to pick up the visa the same day so all in all a two clear working day turnaround.
Well that was the turnaround time a few weeks ago so eight days sounds a lot.
I hope it goes well though.
Richard
ps I emailed them on a monday and when they called my GF on a Tuesday they said tell your BF we got his email so its clear that the visa section enquiries do read their emails promptly.

No.. I'm not Thai. But for a certain reason I might be needing a Thai ID... the citizen card.. so how does this work
Dear Cheeseman I do not often take the time to reply to posts liike this but on the basis that though it's April the 1st you really believe that some business or personal adventure is going to be facilitated by an ID which shows you to be Thai; my advice is JOIN THE REAL WORLD.

When a friend of mine had a suit made a few years ago the actual seamstress was Thai, the Indians were just 'fronting' the business, taking measurements etc. So what are they doing that a Thai could not? .
Yes they pretty much subcontrct the making to a Thai so why not cut out the middle man. I use Jimmy on Soi six.
Richard
oops its not Jimmy its Mr Will . anyway a nice non pushy Thai bloke. Left hand side of Soi six heading to the beach about a third of the wat down.

Poor Issan farmers selling their prostitute daughters to some stupid farang for way more than a Thai would pay (like read zero for a hooker) is laughable.
Are you saying we should lease them
I am not engaged to an ex prostitute but if I were I really could not imagine the following chat .
Tillak I love you will you marry me. Yes darling I will . Darling will you buy mama me a bufallo.
Oi slag your takin a diabolical liberty you aint worth nothing tart. Or perhaps: darling I have taken the libery of conducting a survey amongst 100 random pattaya moto taxi drivers. The results are clear from the from the following presentation. Your assets have depreciated, your speculative bubble has burst. You are in short in a circumstance of karmic negative equity and of no financial worth.
What a Thai would pay is of minor importance.
I have no plans to start eating chicken feet, fish heads , bugs or beatles and no intention of carting trucks load of wonga to the putative in laws. BUT if its a case of symbolically showing I value her and generously giving a few Baht just cause it makes my GF happy so be it . ( she love mam and papa mak mak )

I was recently in Roi Et with my girlfriend. House on stilts, fields, etc. We had a bit of a party. This is a nice party I said . Yes its our engagement party Whilst I am planning to marry my GF I kinda had my own timetable. GF then tells me that mama wants 800,000 Baht Mama seriously thought I was going to go to town and withdraw 800,000 from an ATM. Mama was wrong. Result ? Distraught GF at being a bad daughter and shamed in everyones eyes . GF calms down and speaks to papa , papa speakes to mama. Mama is now scared silly I am not going to marry her daughter and drops her 800,000 figure. The problem stems from the fact that a cousin over the road met a Dutch bloke on the internet. He came straight over handed the family 1 Million baht to get engaged . It all went tits up it seems the bloke did not fancy women or had a problem downstairs and cousin is still a virgin . Dutch boy refuses to take her calls and and the family are 1 million richer. My GF thought all fallangs did this whilst I explained that her cousins fallang was a moron. The cousin now spends all her time on Thailovelinks chatting to dutch blokes .
I want to make my GF happy and will give some presents and things in due course but " up to me "

I thought it was an OK book, nothing special. It looked based on a few stories mixed together, combined with a few stereotypes. One thing that made it slightly more interesting was choosing a young guy, rather than the old guy stereotype as the protagonist.
One key factor in why it happens is naivety, plus a lack of having experienced anything similar before visiting Thailand. Why can't people see thru it all? If I think back to when I first came to work here, it would never have entered my mind that all these Thai bar girl antics exist. I started with zero first hand knowledge of this industry before coming to Asia, and had never knowingly even talked to anyone invovled in it before Thailand. Before coming here I would have laughed Private Dancer off as unbelievable and pure fiction. Fast forward to having spent a few years in Thailand, and the book seems pretty obvious, easy to see thru and predictable. I think that's mainly a reflection of the country, life here and a side of life you learn about, that you probably wouldn't do so in many other places.
BTW Anyone thinking it is limited to western guys and Thai females is kidding themselves. You can pick any combination of males/females western/thai here in Thailand, and there'll be similar stories. Obviously not the majority of relationships here, but enough to spot the themes.
A better book I thought was "Only 13". It's written from a Thai girl's perspective. It gets hijacked in the middle by western PC rhetoric on the industry, which sort of interrups the flow of the story for a while, before it resumes again. But otherwise it's a much more interesting book, with a much less mainstream/less stereotypical perspective of this type of subject than Private Dancer. I found it much more thought provoking.
Perhaps more commoly known as "My Name is Lon- You like me "

I recently had cause to visit Pattaya for a few days with my Thai Girlfriend. We went out to see some of my friends at some beerbars which was nervous about but ultimately ok with, chatting with some of the girls. We then moved on to Secrets, not quite a Go Go more a Coyote. She hated it and could not wait to get out. We left asap and she was like " how could you bring me to such a place".
Falang women in Go Go's I have seen a few times. Generally pissed as newts before trying to get on stage and flash their knickers thinking they are the life and soul of the party. This kind of misses the point of a go go in that the dancers are not employed primarily for their personality. It seems that after a few beers a competitive streak appears in some falang women in a go go. Not a pleasent sight.
Perhaps things are different in the boy go gos?
Richard
I should perhaps add for clarification that the European women I noted in Go Go's were tourits.

Dear all ,
I have done a search but cannot find out what it costs.Anyone know? I know where to apply etc.
It may seem odd that I am organizing this from the UK but my GF though a graduate and a lovely girl could not organize a p...up in a brewery infact if her friends, family, old ladies in the market , random strangers etc get on the case we will go nowhere painfully ( for me ) and slowly. There is perhaps a better chance of Ling randomly typing Shakespeare.

....but it seems (from the book and observations) that the men are always throwing money away on them voluntarily. Handing over 5000 baht just as a tip for example...

Hi all I have read the thread with some interest as I have entered into a relationship with a lovely Thai lady. Everythink in the bedroom department is fine with one exception. She cannot accept that " her daughter " as she calls it is not pretty or clean. To her its low and dirty . Whilst she is fine with heading down south to vist my " son " any attempt by me to do likewise is not appreciated. I tell her she might like it and that it is not dirty but this is a non starter for her.
She is a beautiful woman but with what I think are seriously Thai body hang ups. Swimms fully clothed and even her sisters have never ( I think ) seen her naked. I suppose I am lucky that in the privacy of our room things are good but i would like her to experience oral too.
Any thoughts
Richard
Richard,
What you describe is very typical. The strong "high/low" thing together with the idea of male superiority makes it unacceptable to a conservative Thai.
My suggestion is to leave it alone for now and concentrate on satisfying her in ways that are acceptable to her. With the passage of time she may become more open to the idea, but even if not, as long as you are both getting satisfaction, no matter. I think pushing the issue will be counter-productive and you can't reason with such deeply ingrained cultural concepts.
In the natural course of being in a relationship with a western man she will relax many of her inhibitions, but gradually and at her own pace.
Thanks
Richard

Contact the Senior Enlisted advisor; His rank is the same as a sargent major and he can get anything done you want.
Do you know what "Senior Enlisted Advisor" is in Thai. I will get my friend on the case.

Thanks all. I was reading this post which suggested that Nam Lam is "ordinarily" closed to Civilians during the week and variously you have to pay 20 Baht per car ( would they be happy with a coach )

Mr Richard,
My guess is that you want to take the "Camillian Kids" on an outing to see the ships etc near Satahip. If so what a grand idea! My only advice would be to get a local tour operator here in Patters to set it all up. Get one of your buddys here in Patters to do some leg work for you. There probally some open tours in Satahip.
Bon Voyage
Hi mate.Close but no cigar. The posse would likely include a whole bunch of big fallangs running around the beach if all works out. 555
See you in a week or so.

Dear all,
I am looking for an introduction to Someone in the Navy. Not a personal introduction as you do not know me more of a contact really.
Some may recall that I support the Camillian Center in Rayong ( HIV kids ).
My last post was about hiring coaches.
The Royal Navy have some lovely beaches.
Nuff said for the moment.
If any BM thinks they may be able to help I will pm full details of what I want to ask the Navy and why.
