Hmmm yes. Because the world depends on serfs sending their digits to the same people who have money printed. Maybe one day. I honestly struggle to justify the risk to myself but I have a weird feeling like I did about Thailand years ago (which proved correct) that if I traveled around there it would be a fantastic journey.

In Europe you will not be jailed for these type of comments anywhere my guy. For threatening violence online it's possible to be prosecuted, if you're dumb enough to confess to it. Get out of your condo and get some fresh air.. What is true is in a couple of countries in Europe holocaust denial was (maybe still is) an offense that can land people in jail which is a disgrace.

Actually I haver to ask, is your name ironic? I would imagine someone with a name of 'SAFETY FIRST' may actually be more interested in issues created by the majority population and just in general where most of the crime and issues is coming from.

Russians are also disproportionately reported on. Do you know the percentage of Russians that can communicate effectively in English? Let me tell you, it's less than Thais, so yes a low percentage. Try again. Also it's nice you are happy with the reporting. Lots of slobs are happy eating McD's burgers, but however that doesn't change the reality that the reporting on this site is heavily biased and that McD's burgers are unhealthy.

I will stick around for 3 reasons:

1) Occasionally good info

2) I like to remind the site of their obvious bias towards reporting on people of a non-oriental phenotype, especially if they happen to be European. Most of the crime in Thailand is committed by Thais, the next group would be neighbouring SEA countries but judging by this site you would never guess that. 

3) I like to remind Western liberals on their hypocrisy of moving to a society such as Thailand and SEA at large whilst maintaining their Modern Liberalism ideology : they should apologize, which IRL I will be looking for here on out.

Yes, I know that Thais even have a shirt on the beach, but their culture has nothing against no shirt in such a place. Neither has any other country.

The only thing that is not OK here, is that these guy lack self-respect in the way that they do not understand how overweight they are, do nothing about it and will probably die in a stroke too early in life.

I am with your there. There is only a net-win to keeping in good condition compared to how these slobs want to live. We come onto these forums for years and hear 'no money no honey' and how Thai people are disrespecting them whilst others have a different experience. Thai people really value, more than most other people, how someone presents themselves. Especially if you're European they still can't really process you as lower class/slob so it's polarising for many of them.

Even when not being concerned with other's opinions on your appearance then the health aspect of not being a pig should be enough.

All I see is a genetic dead end making noise. In a truly civilized society people like that would have not made it into adulthood.

On a 'beach-Island' such as Koh Pangnan or somewhere like Koh Samet, I don't think its poor form or 'disrespectful of Thai culture' at all to be shirtless...    but, of course, going into a Bank in those area's is of course impolite. 

 

Also, going shirtless in many cities and towns is of course polite.

 

BUT... it seems with this example, a few people are trying to shoe-horn in their faux-outrage so they can feel offended on behalf of the Thai's... Its a bit pathetic !!! 

 

 

Yes they are pathetic but if was spending 24 hours a day in your condo coffin (now with grab deliveries there isn't a need to go out) you may also become delusional and lose touch with reality. One step outside and it's clear we are not in a highly regulated place such as Switzerland or Japan, and even in those places the authorities would turn a blind eye to minor infringements in a backwater touristy area.

Yes but somewhere like Koh Phangan is fine. I'm not going to ride in urbanized areas or on motorways, but on backwater islands and villages no problem.

I barely follow the charade that is politics, and even I know what you just stated is incorrect just by having a brief glance of how various demographics voted.

Anyway I just keep an eye out until people in the West are ready to reject Modern Liberalism. Sadly I think I will be an old man before that ideology is given the boot once people have had enough and would prefer to live in the forest. If you believe in this charade, what exactly is an African 'conserving' in a European country exactly? Liberalism from a decade ago? 

My wife's boyfriend gave me permission to vote for Kamala. His biggest issue was the abortion angle, basically he's worried about getting my wife pregnant.

He's probably on to something if they are living in the US instead of Puerto Rico. 

I will be honest, Thailand may not be for you, and probably most Tropical regions also. It's not for everyone. The noise aspect of Thailand goes well with me. Thais generally have a good level of being considerate whilst letting people live. I gel well with them in this way and have done for a long time.. apart from the dogs situation. I don't dogs running at me when I haven't entered your property, make some effort to control them. But it's not that big of a deal either.

Whilst I don't like Pattaya, and I don't really like most of the tourist designated zones in Thailand, the authorities allow it all to happen. Shut down the open red light activity, stop the full-moon party degeneracy and then oddly enough less degenerates will come. I wish they would switch that whole scene to a crap country such as the Philippines. I maintain the promotion of those activities hurts Thailand more than it benefits it.. Covid kicked it into high gear and the high snack consumption along with no exercise at all is packing the pounds on. 

I know it am not sure how many of these posters have much experience in Thailand. Apart from the massive increase of Coke Cola while dining and KFC getting fairly popular, generally Thai people are eating roughly the same as they were decades ago. The main changes are more people have vehicles now, grab deliveries, more electronic apparatus for domestic chores and people generally have more expendable cash.

'Reportedly attempted'.. Now whilst I know the police still have to at least make records of reports, that seems very wishy-washy for making an article about. Then it goes further, to the person claiming to be a victim saying he thought the people attempting to extort him were speaking in a  French accent and therefore reported as French nationals. Even if he got that correct that it was a French accent, French is spoken by more people outside of France than in France itself by quite a large ratio.

Obesity is rising worldwide sadly. I still remember Thailand 20 years ago as a younger man being impressed with Thai ladies. Most were slim, in shape and with the charm. Those were the days, and honestly I think I am still attached to Thailand only because of those by gone days. Anyway it's obvious this obesity trend is going to keep 'growing'.

Hollywood has really gone downhill in the last 15 years. In that period it seems to have been mostly goofy Marvel and Disney crap or remaking an old movie, but this time changing the actors into a more 'diverse' cast. All by design of course. This isn't a coincidence. Sadly many of the other world movie making scenes have gone downhill. Hong Kong, Japan and the UK rarely make anything good thesedays. South Korea just seem to rip off American media in everything they do. And then there is Bollywood and Nollywood, which beyond the unintentional comedy genre produce complete garbage. 

Here are a few good Hollywood movies post 2000 that are worth a watch: Gangs of New York, Blade Runner 2049, No Country for Old Men, Drive.. Ermmm I am struggling now. Partly due to my average memory and partly due a lack of quality movies.
