  1. I'm not sure how easy it is to scan an x-ray which relies on light passing through it. As I'm in the UK I'd have to get my wife to get it scanned so I'll have stick with the postal service I think. These are vital to my health so it's worth the risk.
  2. I think that's what I used for my property contract so it looks the best way. Thanks.
  3. At the moment I'm in the UK but under normal circumstances yes I've been married for 8 years and been visiting or living in Thailand for about 13 years. Yes I've seen all the rubbish and particularly plastic bags along the road and blocking the drains and that needs to be tackled. I've also seen Thais using bins and teaching their children to do the same. I've seen an increase in reusable coffee cups and drinking straws in places like Café Amazon are no longer plastic. It's small steps in the right direction. In terms of sunscreen, yes they might be avoiding harder challenges but it's not hard to do and if I was there and took the time to look it might well be hard to find a product with these ingredients. Certainly among the bigger brands. Really what's the big problem with this. Let's use your own rather strange argument. Do you live here? Have you seen the way most Thai people treat road safety? Risking their own life by not using seat belts or helmets. Teaching their children to adopt the same bad habits. Risking their own lives and the lives of others by driving whilst drunk. Have you seen how Thailand ranks in road safety? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_traffic-related_death_rate Where does litter rank now and should we really be worried about it?
  4. Not sure where mine is made but it's the same and after removing the tag it seems ok. This issue has been around for a while in other countries so the manufacturers will have already removed offending ingredients. I would think the problem would be with cheaper lesser or unknown brands. It's possible that bigger brands might produce different variants depending on regulations in different countries but I doubt it. As others have said the main focus should be on stopping any places selling sunscreen containing those ingredients.
  5. Other countries seem to manage it pretty easily without much problem. I'm fully aware there are big problems but this is just one small easy step that shouldn't stop them dealing with the others. From what others say the citral here isn't that good but if you just wait until you've solved ask the other problems then you mutt as well not bother.
  6. I don't think we're that strange on Thaivisa. Sorry AseanNow. ???? More seriously I think it's a good point. Despite what you read in the media people don't usually look 'evil' and if they do they may well not be. My daughter and I used to meet a guy through a club who was a really nice chap who then killed himself. It turned out he was a paedophile who had committed some very serious crimes. You wouldn't guess by looking at him.
  7. It would help if they had a list of the popular brands and whether they contained these substances or not. I've just looked at a bottle of Nivea that I had in my bag from when I came back last year and most of the ingredients are covered by a security tag. Edit: Just managed to peel off most of the tag and it looks as if it's ok although the print is a bit small for my eyes so I'll probably have to take a picture and zoom in to be sure. Thailand isn't the first place to deal with this problem so I suspect Nivea will have sorted this out some time ago. My fingers and therefore my keyboard is sticky now. From the security tag obviously.
  8. They should be able to deal with more than one problem at a time. I would have though protecting coral was a pressing problem and the longer you leave it to "deal with more pressing problems" the more urgent and difficult to deal with it becomes.
  9. I did notice when I was last in Thailand nearly a year ago that a lot of the straws aren't plastic anymore which is good thing.
  10. Does anybody know what might be the best way to post some dental x-rays to the UK. There's no financial value in them and losing them would just be annoying. My guess would just be the Thai postal service but if anyone has a better idea then I may try that. I think I used Thai Post when I had to return documents to the UK when I sold my house to my daughter and that worked ok. I'm sure most of them were just emailed to me and I printed them out so if they were lost I'd just have to do it again.
  11. So pretty dangerous then and best avoided if possible. Not sure about the snake though. ????????????
  12. At the hospital. I have the advantage that my wife is a government employee so I get free health care but I doubt it's that expensive. I pay for the prescription though. Depending where you are a private hospital might be a possibility. I have 2 I can go to. One is the normal state hospital in Mahasarakham and I think the other is connected to the university.
  13. Very true. Going the extra kilometre doesn't work as well either. Maybe use metric for measurement and imperial for effect on writing. Of course one exception will be for beer where we'll stick with pints. UK pints not the smaller US ones. ???? ????
  14. Most post sent to my wife at our home address is delivered to her local government office nearly 11 km away. That confused me and the only explanation I got from my wife was "the post lady knows me".
  15. I don't know what meds you need but I have some for high blood pressure and high cholesterol and have had to get some in Thailand. A couple of them had to be swapped due the hospital not having the ones I have in the UK. I checked with the doctor when I got back and they were ok. I'm over 60 so I get free prescriptions in the UK but if I were comparing the prices in Thailand to the prescription charges in the UK they would be cheaper.
  16. It may have been high enough when built but subsequent concreting over of the road when it breaks up would have reduced the height but I doubt they would have changed any height signs. This is partly humour and partly serious. Just to avoid confusion. ????
  17. I would have thought she would have needed some speed to raise the front of the vehicle unless she just kept going when it first hit thinking she could force her way under.
  18. Shortly after the coup there were pictures of cops guiding people across crossings in Bangkok to emphasise what they are for. All forgotten now I suspect. There was also a video possibly in Pattaya but maybe Phuket of a crossing with lights showing everyone ignoring the lights. Including the police.
  19. The trouble is they use metric measurements here not imperial. Mind you that does mean another expensive contract to put it right afterwards. ????????????????
  20. 'alcohol-drenched bodyparts' I must suggest that to the wife when I finally get back.
  21. It's difficult to tell as you can't see what's behind the pickup further along the road but it may be that he hit the end of the barrier. The other possibility might be the barrier came loose or broke. It shouldn't do but it's possible. Many years ago my headlight was smashed when a car on the opposite carriageway hit the barrier and the washer from the bolt fixing hit my lights. I didn't know until I got home and noticed the light was gone with the washer was still in it.
  22. I've recently been having these problems and Doxazosin wasn't mentioned as a solution but the fact I was already taking it for hypertension meant the consultant urologist advised against Tamsulosin. I'm on 5mg a day The other option of Finasteride apparently comes with the side affect of erectile dysfunction so they wouldn't use it at my age (67).
  23. I'm in neighbouring Mahasarakham and my wife thought if either of us travelled from Bangkok we'd have to quarantine at home for 10 days. Not a problem for me but it would stop my wife working. In the end she found out we wouldn't need to as things stood at the time. She's a government worker so got the information whilst in the provincial government offices. The requirements will be decided at the provincial level usually in the health department although the village head may be involved in enforcing them. If you can find a website for the Surin provincial administration or it's health department that may help you, assuming you read Thai or have someone who can. The other option is phone them if possible. Good luck. These are complicated times.
