  1. Yes I get the Thai Herbs speech sometimes. I usually ask how the rest of the world manages to live so well. Particularly those countries where people live longer than in Thailand. There's never a reply. ????
  2. There are still some shops venues and transport that require masks which is fine by me. It would probably be easier if it were still a legal requirement in those cases except for those exempt to save confusion. If it enables businesses to open up and a return to some sort of normality plus protecting those who are vulnerable then I would say it's worth it. I still use a mask in shops ect as it's not a big sacrifice and as you say it's a lot better now that more has opened up. Let's hope it lasts
  3. I can't help with your query as I've never been there but I looked it up and if it's the one in Bueng Kan then I'll certainly try to go there. It looks well worth a visit. I hope someone replies who can help.
  4. I would have thought if someone arrives in the county, has been vaccinated and has been tested before they board a plane plus a possible test shortly after they arrive then they aren't going to be any more of a risk than a Thai or non Thai who is already here.
  5. Well it depends on where they are from. If it's the UK then at the moment Thailand is red listed and it will require an expensive hotel stay on return. It does mention this in the article. I'm not sure what the quarantine for returning tourists is in other countries but maybe it's not as bad. I think we need to look at this as a move in the right direction. The quicker the government can get the vaccination rate up the sooner larger numbers of tourists will return. At the moment it's probably more about returnees and just a few tourists. As a returnee myself I've decided to stay in the UK until after Christmas with hopefully a return for New Year. The only problem with that might be if the regulations don't change until 1st January.
  6. Maybe it was those who couldn't leave. Probably not but it's a thought. The other reason might be in how they work out the figures. As hotels close then any occupants will hen be moved into the hotels that are still open. There is still the issue that more hotels seems to have been open but with statistics there are a lot of variables that have to be taken into account before you can come to any judgement.
  7. The UK spends less money on health than many other countries. https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/healthcaresystem/articles/howdoesukhealthcarespendingcomparewithothercountries/2019-08-29
  8. Might be suggesting that Leo or other alcohol in excess isn't necessary for a full life in their opinion. I haven't had any alcohol since I returned to the UK last September and although I do drink sometimes when out for a meal when I'm home in Thailand I don't drink that much and I could live without it.
  9. That's lower than previous days although it may just be an outlier. We need to see how the figures go over the the following days to get a better picture but hopefully it's the start of a favourable trend.
  10. That's true but I suspect that domestic traffic will have a higher percentage of Thais and those arriving internationally will more likely be foreigners. Whatever the case why the difference between international arrivals and domestic? Is there another reason other than the predominant racial makeup?
  11. In terms of the poor reputation of the RTP rather than just a sleeping cop which probably isn't any worse than traffic cops paying more attention to their phones than working it seems to me that what's needed is a change in the way the police are run and paid for. This isn't some great idea that I've thought of but what has happened elsewhere including the UK. You'll never stop all corrupt or lazy cops but it needs to change to corruption being wrong and trying to stop it from the current Thai situation where it's part of the accepted way they operate. Police need to be paid a good salary in return for abiding by rules and an end to moving to non active posts. A policeman's pay and that of customs and immigration officers should be the responsibility of the Thai government not something the officer is encouraged to get themselves through corruption. I saw this article on the BBC website that I thought was interesting. I hope it's OK to post. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-58405215
  12. 5G connected world Without connection you wouldn't be able to warn us of this. Whether that's worth it or not is a choice
  13. Unless several selfies were requested including with the thermometer and some with a thumbs up or making a heart shape with your hands I'd suggest you're making this up. ????
  14. They would certainly have them in the sort of areas where foreign tourists and medical tourists and foreigners in general tend to go. Having said that it was the other way round for me. Up to date in Mahasarakham and a bit behind the times in Khon Kaen but I suspect that's unusual.
  15. I don't have any that's why. Do you have a 3½ inch or 5¼ inch floppy one I can borrow and laugh at? ????
  16. They were all women and I think the first one I saw in Khon Kaen was non digital. The second was definitely digital but they printed it out as well but it's been a while so I'm not sure they'd still have it. My wife has found it now although there was a little damage but she's sent it anyway. I'll let you know if and when it arrives.
  17. Yes I saw that after I posted. When you're trying to make complex travel decisions there's nothing like a bit of military precision planning to smooth the way is there?
  18. Don't you just wish Chalerm was still around to amuse us. I'm beginning to miss Robert Amsterdam as well.
  19. 'Step Two is the opening of the Thai capital Bangkok on October 1st along with Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Cha-Am and Hua Hin.' Does anyone know what they mean by 'opening'? Will it be like Phuket where you quarantine but can leave the hotel or no quarantine if you are vaccinated and tested. That would be difficult to manage as Bangkok isn't an island.
  20. Perhaps that shows how bad it is in Thailand that travel to Myanmar is seen as a good option. Either way I'm not sure they thought that through.
  21. Well spotted. That should read. These aren't vital to my health so it's worth the risk. Just spoken to my wife and she can't find them at the moment so she may have solved the problem ????
  22. I'll probably just mail them. The other options aren't practical in this case.
  23. These are from January last year so maybe not possible. Given that these are more for interest I will probably just use post.
  24. These were from January last year and are more for general interest for my dentist who I know professionally rather than for important health reasons.
