  3. Lucky you. According to a friend who lives in Nong Khai for quite a few years now, the Immigration Office there is one of the nicer and more helpful ones in the country. Go there, bring your airline ticket and your passport and 1900 Baht, the rest is smooth sailing.

  5. And it works perfectly in Korat. I have done it many times already, and it saves a lot of time and money for gas. A One-Way drive to Korat is about 90 kms for me. On the other hand, doing 90 days in the office never took me longer than two minutes. I am really happy with the service there, except for the residence confirmation (buy vehicle, extend driver license). They still ask 300 Baht for a service which is officially free.

  10. Now I would like to know which of the remaining "clean" offices is handing the confirmation of residence for free. The going rate is somewhere by between 300 and 500 Baht for a service which is officially free. Or is it a computer crime to ask questions like this?
  11. I used to do my runs to Hat Yai and stay there a night (Kosit Hotel). Next morning drive to Pedang Besar, then return to Hat Yai, do some shopping on the market, and return to Patong. The whole trip took about 24 hours by car. It was about 20 years ago, nowadays I prefer my retirement extensions...
  12. Why do I understand jealous if I read concerned? I must be mad.
  13. The cheapest insurance is the service to received a SMS for every movement on your account. @ BBL it is just 20 Baht per month.
  14. Which is officially free. Try to get a receipt ????
  15. Yes, you need a special license. I suggest reading of Wikipedia.
  16. Better use a tooth pick. You might damage the port with a hard object.
  17. And don't forget: Some appliances depend on the correct frequency. A transformer will take care of the voltage, but 50/60 Hz may still be an issue.
