Title is "EVs ... in ... Thailand"

So far just MGs and GWMs, are reasonably priced & readily available, sort of, if still available, won't arrive till year's end.  Most others are in the not so 'value' price range for many, IMHO

Hard to pay ฿2m for a Leaf, when you can have an MG for ฿771k.  Not like any EV is not going to have Chinese components & battery.  As do most vehicles.

Anyone thinking about the Volvo, do you research, saw a vid the other day, and 2 of theirs (90&60) made the 10 worst EVs list, from owner's reviews.  Don't think any available here though, or would be silly priced anyway:

Oh yes, Volvo sells cars here, I see many and I posted a link in my post, another link below.

Anyway, I will likely be looking at a hybrid of some sorts, as I need long range sometimes and don't want to charge in the middle of my trip(s).

  2. Only Chinese EV's on the last few pages, I just don't want one of those, period!

On below links, I think there is one from China but okay many of the brands showed are not even sold here.

I like the Volvo XC40 & C40, very good looking but 2.6 mill baht.

I bought a cbr500r in 2017. It is actually 471cc just under 50hp two cylinder. It was ok but felt like a glorified Honda wave so upgraded to ninja zx6r with 636cc and near 130hp 4 cylinders. The difference is remarkable. I find bikes under 4 cylinders sound horrible especially with modified exhausts. More like a lawnmower!!!

Nonsense man, my 3 cyl XSR with Zard exhaust sounds just awesome.

Triumphs twins sounds very nice as well, a friend of mine has the Speed Twin, oh boy what a sweet motor that is.

Don't really like 4 pots bikes, no power below 5-6000 rpm normally.

  4. So this one packs some serious punch with almost 400HP from its twin-turbo EcoBoost  V6 petrol engine.

1.87 mill baht isn't bad either.

I could be tempted getting one I must admit and a good upgrade to my 2.2WT from 2013.

It does look very off road orientated though so not sure it's for me, have to se some tests first.

I have had both and would say the Aerox is better, and cheaper. The NMAX had great brakes though and ABS, which the lower model Aeroxs don't. I am a small guy so found the Aerox easier to handle. Maybe a larger guy would prefer the NMAX.

I can't use an Aerox, my knees keeps hitting the faring so Nmax for me if have to choose between the two.

I seen the Nmax in some pretty cool colors lately, likely the yearly updates.

Folk in LOS with any sense buy reliability, they buy Toyota or Isuzu, the same as the company  fleet  buyers, who don't want gizmos, they want the ride on the road, day in, day out.......????

Totally nonsense post, why do you think they are more reliable than other brands, huh?

Ranger is the best selling truck in Australia in 2021, so they must must have done something right, doubt they would sell many if they spend most of the time in the garage getting fixed!

People down there are really using them hard in very hot conditions sometimes.

Actually Ford is the second biggest seller in Africa right behind (wait for it) VW.

But yeah, if you're watching a TV show or movie about Africa you will likely see all Toyotas.

To be clear, I currently own my forth Toyota, but the idea that they build significantly better or more technologically advance products that any other major manufacturer is silly.

Exactly, people that thinks one brand is superior is likely a brand bitch or below average intelligent.

Totally silly to be a brand bitch, what have that particular company done for you? Provided a good vehicle for x years? Sure but other brands can do that as well, so don't be silly, it's not like they invite you on holidays or bought you a steak dinner, LOL.

My Ranger from 2013 have been flawless, been all over Thailand in it and I would buy one again if I wanted another pick-up truck, but I don't, I decided to get a small SUV, Mazda or something like that.

starts at < ฿550k in China

Yes that what I am not getting.

Quote: Thailand's EV import tax rates vary. EVs imported from China enjoy a 0% tax rate under a bilateral agreement between Thailand and China.

Someone is earning a lot on it for sure.

That car is not worth 1 mill in my opinion.

So, has anyone bought an ORA Good cat here yet? These look way better than the MG EVZS and have an amazing range of 500km for the Ultra model.

Tesla Bjorn is currently back in Chiang Mai and says he will test one shortly...

Why is it costing double price as in China? I thought there was no import taxes on vehicles from China.

Very girly looking car in my opinion.

Who is Tesla Bjorn? Never heard the name before.

Thai built - 664,000 THB 180 Km range

Fomm One - At this point, I must say that the FOMM One is a car that is more suitable for short-term city use and probably won't compete with a city car. or eco-cars that are currently sold for sure in terms of safety

So a high priced unsafe car - bound to be a winner

Just to make it clear for the other members: you use the luggage compartment on the roof to put the luggage in, so it doesn't bother the passangers inside the car who otherwise have bags and suitcases all around them.

You do not, I repeat, DO NOT put your family in the rooftop box!

Well the former Nissan boss might disagree ????

I bet he will never ever buy a Nissan vehicle ????

  12. Strange, I had a new bike with a red plate here in Pattaya and one of my biker buddies also rides a red plated bike??

    17 hours ago, Kinnock said:

In some regions you can get a red plate on a new bike, but in Bangkok and Chonburi there's no plate until you get the white one.  You just need to carry your documents  (sales receipt, insurance) until you get your plate and tax sticker.

Some dealers have an 'express service' to get a plate quicker.

  13. I drove my 2013 Ranger WT 2.2 in one go from Chang Rai to Pattaya with my family onboard, original suspension.

In the end my legs went numb and I had to get out and walk around. I fell this is because of the seats are not that supportive.

On shorter trips like Pattaya-Bkk and back in one day is not a problem.

It's a bitch to park in indoors shopping garage spaces but other than that I like it, I fell safe in it compared to driving some little mini tin can car.

We shouldn't underestimate the huge domestic market in India.  (I used to live there, and rode a 350 RE Thunderbird).

    - There are some serious bike enthusiasts in India ...... after you discount the millions of Hero Honda 100cc commuters, all of them saving up for a car, there's a large hard core of real bikers.

They kept Royal Enfield alive, even though they only offered ancient 350 and 500 singles for centuries.  Now they have RE twins, Jawa, KTM, BMW  and a cool looking Honda 350 single.

Linking back to the classic DBD34 Gold Star 500 will resonate with Indian bikers, and RE's latest single tops out at 350cc.

In a country where road conditions limit top speeds, the low down grunt of a big single may be ideal?

The RE650 are selling in huge numbers even outside India, people seems to love them, fairly cheap as well.

I think many grown up people in the west buys them as a Sunday toy, kids grown up and left, maybe divorced thus needing a new toy.

Will be very interesting to see how well the BSA will do.

I got my Ennie 2 month ago in Chiang Mai and love her!
Unfortunately, the dealer here is .... not the best ever ????
Does anybody know if I have to do the service with a RE dealer for warranty reasons or if I can choose any other garage?
Obviously, it doesn't make a lot of sense to ask the dealer as he doesn't want to lose the money ... ????

    263291346_2253892558085913_367035314180411730_n.jpg

Why don't the dealer wants to help you?

The dealer is not loosing money covering warranty work, it's covered from the factory.

Can't see how it would be in competition - a single versus a twin ?

    Liquid versus air cooled ?

Well they are both retro bikes, almost same cc, toque & hp.

Several sites also mention that they will be competitors, then buyers have to made up their mind if they want a thumper or a twin and I bet the people interested in a fairly cheap retro bike will check out both brands.

Beautiful bike and since its a direct competitor to the RE650 I will expect the price to be about the same.

The BSA engine's output is 45 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 55 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm.

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is powered by 648 cc engine. This Interceptor 650 engine generates a power of 47.65 PS @ 7150 rpm and a torque of 52 Nm @ 5250
