Imagine you marrying a 30 year older woman and having to live with her every day for years, just to be able to survive and send some money back to your parents.

I think any normal person would go insane at some point. But of course the older men here, who are married to women that could be their daughters, would disagree. But I am sure they would never themselves want to live or have sex with a 30 year older person.

"True love" in these (Grand) Daddy / Daughter relationships are extremely rare, in my opinion. Which also often shows, when the money runs out. And of course it impacts the women involved. Imagine you bringing home and showing your friends a Grand Mother-Girlfriend. They all know why you are with her, which would make anyone normal person sick, when thinking closer about it. I doubt the girls feel great about it... In ALL ways.

I know this will be hard to swallow for the Grand Dads here. But I do not care. If you are running around with a 30-40 year younger Thai-girl and you believe she really loves being with you, then you are simply stupid, naive as hell and living in Fantasy Land.

If you do not agree on that, then go have sex with a 30-40 year older woman and lets hear how much you enjoyed that. At least I can understand the men who find a much younger partner and inside knows/accepts, what it is really all about. But the guys who believe a 20-30 year old girl, really loves being with a 50-70 year old man are simply lost mentally.

You talk rubbish, every situation is different. I am 70 yrs. young and my wife of four years is now 23 yrs,.,  well grown up and just passed her "Barrister' exams, so she is intelligent. We are never separated. We often visit her parents and stay in small village, where we feel very welcome and comfortable. Her family often visit and stay with us. Neither of us think about age. I don't give money to any of the family etc, and support my wife in the normal marital way. She never asks for anything else. We are devoted to each other, and could not be happier. Before you ask, the sex life is normal.

  4. Great - thanks for the info!

How much did a packet cost, I wonder?

Will be in CM soon and will try and pay a visit to the place.

50Baht per packet, with a lot of seeds and shelf life of 2 years.

    Very good.

  5. I'm surprised to read that you can buy them at Worarot Market - I'll check that out - but I've always bought them on line from the US - Bakers Creek Seeds. Good quality, reliable and relatively cheap. I can get them from Australia also but the US ones work out the cheapest.

I just returned from buying them in Worroroot Market, thanks to Rotweiler.

Guess Xen didn't read OP, I didn't mention buying them in jars. I said I was buying incorrectly cut Beetroot

  6. I am tired of buying Beetroot that is incorrectly sold. With all the roots and stalks cut off. It just bleeds all the juice and flavor away when cooked.

Please can anyone tell me where I can buy beetroot seeds in Chiang Mai. I have tried all the usual shops. Thanks

  7. I sold my house to a Thai person who didn't need the company.....It cost me 25,000Bt to close it (about the same as it was to open it) with an accountant.

P.S. I remember mentioning it to a friend after I had closed it.....He wanted to know why I didn't sell it to somebody. a ready made company ...let's say...for half price. I had thought of it but didn't want to take a chance selling it to somebody I knew nothing about.

PPS...I am selling my present house and I think I will be doing the same thing again, it will most lightly be a Thai that buys the house (if I ever get a buyer that is, very difficult these days).

    WOW.WOW.and WOW again.

Who dreams up these costs. I have just closed TWO companies, that both owned house, sold to Thais who didn't want the companies. They had bank accounts.

I used an accountant and he charged me 12,000 Baht for each one, EVERYTHING included. It took just over 3 months and I now have all the official 'Closed' documents !!!!

  8. Ask your Customs agent what is the current tariff for HS Code 8511.40.32, which is what I think starter motors come under. It used to be 35% of CIF Value and then there is 7% VAT on that as well.

    Ha Ha,

I import regularly. The VAT has never been 7%, as it should be. It is always nearer 20 %. When I question it at my local Post office, they say, "if you want your parcel, you must pay, up to you. When I ask for a photo copy, "we don't have a copier. When I ask for receipt, "don't have" !!!!!

  9. Hilton is a giant crap nowadays, I was a status member and after a heated argument with a typical rude "US customer service agent supervisor" I cancelled my membership entirely. I know of many members who said goodbye to Hilton after they changed their miles-earning-rules two years ago or so.

I like IHG so far, they still give full 500 Miles per stay and once you have been a GOLD member, you can relatively easily maintain the status as they will offer you a moderate challenge in case you did not fulfill the requirements in the next year.

Accor is not too bad either as you get automatic room upgrades as a Gold member and the have a larger variety of chains, basically from 1 to 5 star.

Best Western I only use to earn some miles as my FF program still gives me 500 Miles per stay - but I don't like most of their hotels.

I am a dormant Carlson member - they have very few properties in South-East-Asia so I rarely used them

I agree with you on the Hilton program, which I cancelled few years ago. I think the SPG program is the best of the lot, although the Accor one, of which I am a gold member is not bad. I have been a SPG member for over 10 years with over 500 stays and have been awarded Platinum Status for life. It can hardly get better.

Then you are in for a shock. I am also an SPG member. I have found out that it is possible to book direct with hotel at much cheaper rate and still get the SPG points. Last time was last weekend in Chiang Rai !!!

  10. They say that we are in a third world country here !

1.Two weeks ago I went to hospital to make appointment to see throat specialist. They said,'He is here now if you want". 15 minutes later, I was watching my throat etc., in color, on a screen, attached to the latest state of the art camera ! Cost, just over 20GBP !

    2. Last week, we bought an new curved, smart TV. I asked ,"when can you deliver ? " They replied, What time do you get home sir ? "!!

    ...

    3. On Monday, we bought new Air Con for our home office. I asked about instalation. They said, "its free sir, when do you want it ? Tomorrow ?"

    4. Yesterday, I went to buy an unusual spare part for swimming pool light. They said, "sorry, we don't have, but can get for tommorow ! I just collected it !

Third World eh ? Try those things in UK !!!

  11. Here is my question:

Does anyone know of a Lawyer in Doi Saket who is licensed as a Notary Public ?

Pretty simple, but maybe instead of Notary Public, I should have said, "who is licensed to notarize a signature' '

    KISS !

And yet.. No one can know of such a person, as such a person cannot legally exist..

If he just needs a true copy / certified copy / witnessing of a signature.. etc etc.. Then dont ask for notary public standard !! legally these things mean specific things, and bad advice is bad advice, better people are informed so as not to lose time or court cases.

A police officer can do certified copies, I have used the local police for UK certified docs a couple of times, far cheaper than paying a lawyer a per page fee.

Rubbish ! Who said anything about copies etc. ??? I said, "NOTARIZE A SIGNATURE" . Many lawyers are licensed to notarize signatures

  12. Notary Service

    in Thailand

In most countries, a Notary Public is known as an official who is licensed by the State to perform functions such as the authentication of signatures or documents, and the witnessing of affidavits or statements of persons under oath. Notarization of a document is important as the act of notarization itself creates a guarantee on the authenticity of the document, or to the act of the signatories to the instrument.

While there are no notaries public in Thailand, some lawyers are given the authority to function as Notarial Services Attorney in the country. In Thailand, it is the Lawyers Council of Thailand which regulates the practice of notarial services in the State. A Thai lawyer is required to undergo and pass a professional training course for the service before he is registered as a Notarial Services Attorney.

Once authorized to perform, a Notarial Attorney may execute the following functions:

    Verification to the authenticity of signatures in a document;

    Certification of identity of parties to an agreement;

    Administration of oaths and affirmations;

Attestation and certification of certain classes of documents

Be witness to the signing of parties to a document.

As Thailand is not a signatory to the Hague Convention on Legalization of Foreign Public Documents, in some cases, parties who have engaged notarial services in Thailand may need to have the notarized document authenticated or legalized further at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, or at the Embassy of the country to which the document is to be presented

AGAIN, lots of replies from people who don't know what they are talking about and who DID NOT READ the original question. But ,although Pgrahmm describes the facts accurately, it is not the answer. II ASKED IF ANYONE KNOWS OF A LAWYER IN DOI SAKET,WHO IS LICENCED TO NOTARISE A SIGNATURE

I get your frustration. Some posters on TV have certain opinions and positions engrained in their heads and it is impossible to get them off it.

It's like a Pavlov-reaction. As soon as you mention 'notary public' their pre-programmed drivel comes out.

Why they don't let you decide for yourself whether a notary public is suitable for your own needs is beyond me.

If you ask if a document can be notarized the answer legally is always no.

If you ask can a document be witnessed as a true copy, certified copy, or as the quote above "Attestation and certification of certain classes of documents" then the answer is yes, easily.

The key is to precisely ask the correct question. If you dont actually need a Notary public, then why ask for one, if you dont, you wont find one here.
