  1. Notary Service

    in Thailand

In most countries, a Notary Public is known as an official who is licensed by the State to perform functions such as the authentication of signatures or documents, and the witnessing of affidavits or statements of persons under oath. Notarization of a document is important as the act of notarization itself creates a guarantee on the authenticity of the document, or to the act of the signatories to the instrument.

While there are no notaries public in Thailand, some lawyers are given the authority to function as Notarial Services Attorney in the country. In Thailand, it is the Lawyers Council of Thailand which regulates the practice of notarial services in the State. A Thai lawyer is required to undergo and pass a professional training course for the service before he is registered as a Notarial Services Attorney.

Once authorized to perform, a Notarial Attorney may execute the following functions:

    Verification to the authenticity of signatures in a document;

    Certification of identity of parties to an agreement;

    Administration of oaths and affirmations;

Attestation and certification of certain classes of documents

Be witness to the signing of parties to a document.

As Thailand is not a signatory to the Hague Convention on Legalization of Foreign Public Documents, in some cases, parties who have engaged notarial services in Thailand may need to have the notarized document authenticated or legalized further at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, or at the Embassy of the country to which the document is to be presented

AGAIN, lots of replies from people who don't know what they are talking about and who DID NOT READ the original question. But ,although Pgrahmm describes the facts accurately, it is not the answer. II ASKED IF ANYONE KNOWS OF A LAWYER IN DOI SAKET,WHO IS LICENCED TO NOTARISE A SIGNATURE

I get your frustration. Some posters on TV have certain opinions and positions engrained in their heads and it is impossible to get them off it.

It's like a Pavlov-reaction. As soon as you mention 'notary public' their pre-programmed drivel comes out.

Why they don't let you decide for yourself whether a notary public is suitable for your own needs is beyond me.

Agreed, they just pick out a word that they understand and rabble on with completely unrelated nonsense. Nothing better to do I guess !

  2. No.

Amazing, it took this long and a single word is the most intelligent answer so far.

Yes, it is amazing. Apart from Pgrahmm's correct description, it is the usual irrelevant claptrap from people who didn't understand a simple question !!

  4. For witness to a Thailand document or transaction?

Thai Notaries are not recognised in many western countries, eg Australia. Our local resident Qld JP, Neil Kilah, may be able to assist.

To witness signature on Company Document.

  5. We wasted money to see DEADPOOL in 4DX at Central Festival yesterday. When we arrived at the 4DX entrance there was a sign saying the movie was in fact in 2D !!, AFTER we had paid for 4DX !

If it wasn't for the continual moving of the seats, and rain water leaking from the roof (had to be that, cos there was no water spray scenes in the movie !), I could have had a good sleep.

Anyway, someone needs to teach the originator of the movie how to express himself without every other word being <deleted> or some other obscenity. Disgraceful !

  6. I have a severe acid reflux problem and if I drink a glass of beer within 5 minutes it becomes like a boiling mass of molten lava inside my stomach, which is a great incentive to cut down on the alcohol consumption.

Yo Cyber - go into any drug store and ask for omeprazole 20 mg - about 50 baht for two week supply and one pill a day should do it, no matter what you eat or drink... works for me - been on it near 20 years now...

You wasted a lot of money over the years. All these antacid pills are copies of 'Proclor', the original and expensive one. Eucid and Miracid are EXACTLY the same content of Omeprazole. Miracid costs 60Baht for 30 !!!! I used it with wonderful effect for 20 years.

  7. Interesting,

I had been a very heavy drinker all my life, from the age of 17, when we owned an hotel with a public bar. It was just normal to drink with the customers. I am now 70 yrs. old and very healthy. Have regular health checks. Liver, Kidneys etc. are perfect !I was drinking five large Chiang Export and 3/4 very large whiskies every night. Five months ago, I quit, because I felt it would be better for me !! I just can not sleep. I have been prescribed strong sleeping pills, but when I stop taking them I still can not sleep. I will try one more month and if I still can not sleep, I will start drinking again and sleep like a baby again !!!

Please do not take this the wrong way, but you are already setting yourself up to fail by finding reasons to start drinking again. When I quit drinking I too struggled to get off to sleep for quite a while - I think it was 2 -3 months. Taking sleeping pills is not the answer - you're simply replacing one drug with another. Your body needs to learn how to fall asleep again by itself naturally instead of by means of a drug induced stupor. Do you really believe that your body is uniquely genetically different to the rest of us that you can only get off to sleep with the aid of a drug? I presume before you became addicted to drink you were able to go to sleep ok? Give it time - you can't stay awake forever!

Remember too that you have reached the age of 70 in seemingly good health in spite of being a heavy drinker - not because of it! You are lucky indeed that your liver and kidneys are in good order - although health checks in the way of specific blood tests will only show when serious damage is present. Stopping drinking will unquestionably be better for your health. Persevere at it, and stop thinking about reasons to start drinking again, instead of going to bed worrying that you aren't going to go to sleep ( which itself is likely to keep you awake) just lie there thinking about the positive achievement you have made by not giving in and getting smashed - maybe instead of counting sheep count the money you will be saving over the next 20 - 30 years ;-)

    Good luck!

Thank you. I am not looking for reasons to drink, I am happy not to drink, It was easy to stop, I like my squash mixture. I went to Psychiatrist, he explained that the brain needs reprogramming without alcohol, and gave me the necessary pills, said it would take 6 months. Guess I a being impatient trying to stop the pills sooner, don't want to get addicted.

  9. It was never legal to drive without international licence if you don't have a Thai one. Your insurance is also not worth the paper and never was, as you are driving without a valid permit.

Some people want to learn it the hard way. Go for it smile.png.

It is amazing how many people make posts that are INCORRECT.

It is legal to drive here with most European and USA Full licenses. FULL STOP.

I have asked Insurance Co. I have asked Police, I have asked Lawyer, I have asked Consulate. Are they all wrong ????

I have shown UK license at police stations when paying legit fines, I have had Insurance Companies repair all scratches etc, before I sell car to get new one. I have shown license to Insurance companies to buy new/renew insurance. All in the last 14 years !!

P.S. I have also been asked to pay 'on the spot' fines for having 'wrong' license, I REFUSED to pay, I have never been to jail !

  10. Pick-up the telephone. Why would you bother with an email???

Did you ever try navigating through bank's electronic telephone system ?

takes forever and costs plenty. Bank must be on commission from phone company !!

  11. I have identified someone using a SCB account to commit fraud.

I have sent six emails to various SCB addresses, including their fraud department.

Every email was returned, can not be delivered !!!

  12. ...

    2. Report of Shareholder meeting agreeing to open a SAVINGS account at......xxxx........Bank, with address of bank, and name of person (any person(s)) who is/are to be signatory(ies) on account, including their ID/Passport number(s)

    ...

Must it necessarily be approved by a shareholders' meeting? I believe a resolution of the board of directors is usually the way to open a corporate bank account and designate the authorised signatories (unless, of course, the Articles of Association mandates a resolution of a shareholders' meeting)

You are quite right. I used that terminology because most Foreigners opening new company here for first time, don't, need/have Board of Directors, just the minimum required three shareholders, and the OP did say he was a shareholder. so KISS ! In actual fact, the physical meeting rarely actually takes place !!!

  13. It's a long time since I read so many ill informed, incorrect and misleading replies to one post on here.

I opened my fourth COMPANY BANK ACCOUNT last Thursday, with fourth different Bank.

    IT IS VERY EASY.

First ask the bank what they need. Nearly all the same.

    THEN:

    1. Get original set of company's papers from DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT (DBD), less than 3 months old, 200 Baht.

    2. Report of Shareholder meeting agreeing to open a SAVINGS account at......xxxx........Bank, with address of bank, and name of person (any person(s)) who is/are to be signatory(ies) on account, including their ID/Passport number(s).

    3. The named signatory, and Managing Director (as named in the DBD documents), if different persons, take(s) those papers to the bank with his/her/their ID's/Passports and Housebook/Proof of address(if foreigner), AND COMPANY STAMP. Need funds to open account with, usually only 500 Baht.

Can collect Debit Card at same time and can set up on-line banking and money transfer services.

    EASY

  14. If you only pay around 3,000/month for medical insurance, I wonder what little would be covered when you need it and can not argue ??

I have MID LEVEL BUPA, which only covers up to 2 million Baht, and that is 9,000/month ! The same cover when I was in UK was three times as much !!!

  15. I'm amazed! None of you know this man, his son, or anything else about him, but you are more then happy to bash, insult and judge him. WOW! What nasty people you are.

It is not nasty to give your opinion about irresponsible behavior. You don't have to know him. After all, Juries don't know the person they have to judge, just the evidence. This man, gave his own evidence and was judged .. How would you feel if you drove your car round a corner into a young boy on a motorbike, who might not be controlling it too well ?

  16. TESCO. Lucky you, must have tipped someone.

I tried their delivery once. ordered 24 bottles of wine. They accepted my order, took credit card, and confirmed delivery date. On the morning of due delivery I received a call also. Sorry, we only have one bottle, if you want it delivered, you will have to pay delivery charge, because it is less than 2,5000 !!!!!

The local Tesco Lotus NEVER has more than 6 bottles of Red Horse on the shelf !!!!

  17. Yes that's the rental crowd.....living in a 3000 baht a month room eating 50 baht noodles and drinking archa beer...

can cook most meals for less than 50bht.

Roast pork with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, peas, carrots and gravy ..... about 40bht.

That's ridiculous. You couldn't buy the ingredients for 40 baht. I cook roast dinner every Saturday.

By the way, Yorkshire Pudding is traditional with roast beef, not pork. Pork should have sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce !!

    Not even on topic !!

Could you please start cooking for me??
