  1. I would recommend getting a Toyota Yaris 1.2 or similar from Avis car rental at Don Muaeng Airport. Rental cost is about 1000 bahts per day.

    Required Documents

    • Valid ID card or passport of renter and all drivers
    • Valid driving license of renter and additional drivers (if any). International driving license may be required with the original local license.
    • Valid credit card of the renter. Name of credit card holder must be the same of the driver. Please check there is enough credit limit.
  2. looks like a nasty bump right enough lucky he had his seat belt on

I was thinking exactly the opposite - by not wearing a seat belt, he slid under the steering wheel so his head was low down. If he'd been strapped to the seat, he would've been decapitated.

    All guesswork, of course. biggrin.png

Or it could be the famous GOA body that all Toyota Vios has. GOA body on Vios has a crumple zone and high integrity cabin. It protects the occupants by helping minimize deformation to the passenger compartment.

  3. KBZ Bank of Myanmar announced that it will not refill ATM cash reserves during Thingyan festival.
Each ATM will be filled up to 20 Millions Kyats maximum on 13 April 2014 which is the day before the Thingyan festival.
There will be no refill until 17 April 2014 which is after the end of Thingyan festival.
There is a possiblity that ATMs in high traffic areas may run dry before the scheduled refill on 17 April 2014.
Any issue regarding ATM withdrawals can only be resolved after Thingyan festival.
Travellers are advised to carry reserve cash during the Thingyan festival to avoid any inconveniences from inavailability of ATM service.

So they have built flood defences to keep DM operational. Since the area surrounding the airport is generally at a lower level than the airport itself, and therefore in the event that the flood barrier is required to keep the water out, has anyone given any thought as to HOW the passengers are going to get to and from the airport, since the roads surrounding it will be impassable?

Thought implies having a functional brain which unfortunately is a rare asset here.. I am sure they can spare some boats when they are not busy pushing down water..

DM Airport is located right next to the elevated toll way. Passengers can take the elevated toll way to reach the airport without touching the flooded roads.
