I don't know about the one from Bangkok Bank, but I use my Visa credit card from Kasikornbank as ATM card.

Important is, that you use on the ATM the saving account as if you would use the current loan account it would go to your credit account were you have to pay some high fees.

But I love to not have a separate ATM debit card, when It can be done with the credit card.

I tried cash withdrawal using both my Kasiorn Passion and Platinum credit cards on Kasikorn ATM. Both cards were declined with invalid account error if I choose saving as source of fund. Only credit card account works.

Do I need to visit the Kasikorn branch to enable this cash withdrawal from saving account using credit card?

I'm using DTAC Call all the time, (unfortunately) not being a resident in Thailand anymore and therefore spending most of my time in my home country, and I've never noticed it draining battery on my Samsung J7. And it's active all the time. Weird.

No issue at all with calls and sending/receiving SMSes either. SMS reception is way more reliable and fast than using my DTAC SIM card in roaming. I use this all the time for OTP passwords from my Thai bank.

I did absolutely nothing for being able to use this app and it even worked flawlessly on a Chinese, no-name 50 euros Android smartphone, so I'm pretty sure that there are no special requirements.

I love this app. Changed my life ? ... will look into the AIS equivalent which I didn't know existed, thanks. I also have an AIS SIM.

I believe AIS VoWifi use native support by iOS and Android without the need for a separate app. I can even used the VoWifi through in-flight Wifi inside the plane to receive OTP from my Thai bank.

    thanks Sanmy

i assume they are ok, no rip off fees or passport scams

will check them out and see

    thanks again for your help

I rented from them only once. I was a bit nervous because they took the carbon copy of my credit card and ask me to sign on it.

Surprised to see those carbon copy swipers still exist and in use.

However, everything turned out ok and they returned that credit card slip to me when I returned the scooter.

I am flying wit air Asia at 6.30 am

hope it is. It to busy but there are 4 of us wife 2 kids and we have to go through immigration

I flew out of Don Muang last Saturday around 2 PM and queues at Air Asia check in counters are long. I arrived 90 minutes before the departure but there was no way I could have reached the check in counter in 90 minutes if Air Asia staff did not intervene. Luckily, Air Asia staff started holding placard with my flight number 15 minutes before the counter close. When I identified myself to the staff, they moved me to a special queue for my flight and I was able to check in on time before the counter close. Immigration queues were short though. I cleared the immigration in 5 minutes. I would suggest doing online check in and print out boarding pass if you are not carrying check in luggage to avoid the madness at check in counters.

  5. I use google hangouts App on my phone to pick up calls made to my Google Voice US number. It is a free service. You pay only to your Thai phone company for the amount of data used in the call which is very small amount. Instead of forwarding to my Thai number, I add my Google Voice number in Google Hangouts app and turn on "Answer on Lock Screen".  When someone calls my US Google voice number, the incoming call will ring on my Thai phone as Google Hangout notification.

Thanks for your detailed reply. I'm on a 250 baht a month plan. Voice and data on new phone and data only on old phone would be ideal. I'll go and see True

If you don't mind swapping the same sim card between old and new phone, you can use sim adapter to fit the smaller sim (micro or nano sim) from new phone to your old phone.

  7. Add New Friend By Phone Number

To add a contact by their phone number, sign in to Facebook Messenger and select the People tab.

    Next, tap the + button:

Are they on two separate bookings?

Regardless, you have to arrive at the DMK domestic terminal, then walk through (and upstairs) to the International Departures to check in again

    No "CIQ" like Suvanabhumi

Allow 90 minutes minimum at least

AirAsia does provide CIQ in Don Muang if both flights are in same booking as Fly-Thru.

You will need to check in and go through passport control at airport of your first flight but no need to check in again at Don Muang. Once you landed in Don Muang, AirAsia staff will escort you to departure gate of your second flight.

    Just what I was thinking.

Also why were the 'rumble strips' painted on the hard shoulder? Surely the main carriageway would be where the traffic needs 'calming' more, the hard shoulder has slow(er) moving traffic on it.

The rumble strips create an audible rumbling sound and a vibration in the steering wheel when a vehicle drives over them. The sound and vibration can wake a sleeping driver--giving him or her time to regain control of the vehicle.

  10. I think that out of many types of International Driving Permits, Thailand recognize 1949 convention.

Does your IDP carry the 1949 convention on the cover?

ORIGINAL AND PHOTO COPY OF INVALID INTERNATIONAL DRIVING LICENSE (1949 CONVENTION) OR LOCAL DRIVING LICENSE (TRANSLATE IN TO ENGLISH OR THAI LANGUAGE AND CERTIFY BY EMBASSY IF IT IS NOT IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE)
