  1. I visited Apple Store genius bar at Icon Siam today to replace the aging battery of my 4 years old iPhone 6. English speaking staff checked my iPhone and confirmed it is in need of battery replacement. He told me battery replacement will cost 1700 bahts and I can come back after 3 hours to pick up. When I came back after 3 hours, my iPhone was not ready. Staff explained to me that phone was damaged during battery replacement and Apple store will replace it with a new iPhone 6. I paid 1700 bahts for battery replacement and ended up getting a new iPhone.

I did this, but they said ohh not possible to insert sim...

it's esim so a simple qr code is enough i even told them ok give me the ios version but they said only if i have apple device what a service.

they should learn about devices and the principe behind the esim

The difference between the Galaxy Watch and the Apple Watch is that the Samsung version is based on an officially ratified version of the eSIM standard, whereas the Apple Watch is based on an unratified version that Apple had to work closely with the likes of Dtac, True, AIS to get implemented.

  3. I used my Apple Pay registered with US bank account at local McDonald successfully more than once.

It has no Apple Pay logo at counter but prominently showing "Visa Paywave" logo.

I believe any location that accept "Visa Paywave" will be able to use Apple Pay from iPhone.

However, Apple Pay still does not accept Thai Banks as source of fund.

She showed the consulate in Chiang Mai, not interested. All she had to get that was a photo copy of an old Thai work permit she had when things were easy to do. Not easy now.

She claims she had a passport before but I don't believe she did as she often uses the wrong terminology for things. Visas, work permits, IDs are all "passports" to her.

Many hill tribe people have relatives on both side of the border. If your girl friend can find village in Thai side belongs to the same hill tribes as she is from, she can convince the village headman to add her to house registration in exchange for some money and apply pink ID for hill tribes. Person holding pink ID for hill tribe can apply for Thai citizenship after ten years. This is how many hill tribe folks at the border are holding dual citizen ship in both Myanmar and Thailand.

I and my wife are flying to Siem Reap with Air Asia at from Don Muang in January.

Is this a correct procedure to use?  Check in online. Print boarding passes. We will only have carry on baggage, so straight to passport control. No need for check in either at desk or machine????

Yes, direct to security check, or at least it was the correct procedure 6 months ago for my flight to Phnom Phen  It's really very easy, and you don't even need to paper-print your pass if you can store it in your phone.

I like AirAsia to fly nearby countries. You can get really good prices if you reserve 3+ months ahead. Never got a delay more than 30 minutes. Departure (inc boarding) and Arrival are easy and fast.

Despite what some may say here, I for sure will continue to fly AirAsia, and from Don Muang

That is the same as my experience of AA flight to Yangon on 27 Dec 2018. The only difference is I used their self-service kiosk to print the boarding pass but if you don't want any queue, you can print the boarding pass from home.

With many people needing to bring 800k into T/L, I'd expect there to be plenty of loans available outside of the 3 months required for yourself.

The only problem is ensuring adequate security over the loan..

For example, I'd have no problem lending 800k for 3 months at say 1%/mon with a 4MM+ condo as security.. just need to work out the details.  E.g. if the loan is defaulted, then how can the property be formally transferred without showing cash brought into the country..

How about lender holding the bank account details secret as a security? Here is my thought process.

    1. After interest pre-payment for loan is received, take the passport of farang to the bank and open bank account with ATM card in farang name making sure my own signature is used instead.

    2. Deposit 800000 bahts into the account and hold the passbook and ATM. Return only the passport back to farang.

    3. After 3 months seasoning period, take the passport from farang again and visit the bank to get bank statement.

    4. After bank statement is issued, withdraw all money from the bank using ATM.

    5. Return the passport and bank statement to farang.

Since farang does not know the bank and account number, he has no way to claim the money as his. Money never left my control and thus no collateral is needed.

Question please:  how to withdraw cash from PayPal in Thailand?  Would have to be using a PayPal.co.th account?  If so how could a US bank pay in?

US Paypal account will pull the money from linked US Bank account and transfer to Thai Paypal account. Once transferred, money in Thai paypal account can be withdrawn to linked Thai Bank account.

I had same issue trying to get a visa into Myanmar. The government website said it was $50USD but when I clicked on their link it took me to a travel agency disguised as official. The price they wanted was $155USD. My credit card company declined the transaction as did my bank ATM. I called capital one and was advised that website has numerous complaints from their card users citing non-usable visas. I then contacted the Myanmar embassy to inform them and try to get legitimate visa but as of yet gotten no reply. This was 6 months ago so I guess they don't me to visit

Sent from my SM-J250F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

The official Myanmar government site for eVisa is http://www.evisa.moip.gov.mm
