  1. P.S. Weekend warrior, what type of long gun is that? Picture resolution is not good, but looks like a good old 12 gauge shotgun?

Yes it is, my favorute for duck shooting. It is a big gun and nearly taller than me.

I make my own cartridges to with a little extra kick in them to bring the duck down.

As for a fan of Terry Nickols, I do not know who that is, can you expolian please.

Cambo is real good for guns, you can hire all kinds a stuff and blow shit up.

I brought a cow once and threw hand grenades at it and then finished it off with a Browning M2 50 cilber machine gun

We blew up a cow with a mortar in Cambodia for 300$, didn't mention if we actually hit the cow it cost more.... Trust me you don't want to know how much it costs to shoot at a local, if they are locals....

  2. You know your in Thailand when your in a restroom using a urinal and the maid walks in and starts cleaning them.

It was a shocker for me at first too...I was like "yo, am I in the wrong toilet?" " Is she a spy"? :o

Although the ubiquitous shoulder rub by the bathroom "guy" that used to happen while standing at the urinal seems to have disappeared. Now that freaked me out.

    You joking right?

They still do it at clubs here, i kinda like it when im drunk... i mean its completely inappropriate but while drunk its nice...

  3. Ive never been able to understand this phenomenon. Rich parents pay someone with no education to raise their children for them. The fact that they are wealthy suggests that you are educated, therefore, how do they come to this decision? You cannpt go to the Phrom Pong area without seeing this. Half the time, the nanny will be chatting wildly with another nanny while the children walk behind them. You even see the farang children speaking degrees of fluent Thai and Isaan. Why do people have children if they have no interest in actually raising and caring for them?

Also, for those of you with teenage farang kids in high school and middle school here, can you pretty please tell them to Shut the F@## up in the movie theaters? I had to embarrass a couple of them the other day, and I know its not good for their self esteem, but since you have not taught them simple manners, I guess I have to. Please, do a better job raising your kids here inbetween all your "working late" nights.

ok, i was raised here as an international student at BPS....and what you are saying is truly insulting.....you are sterotyping international students here...and as it is there is enough sterotyping in this country as it is thank you....

and btw i am not saying that internationals are in any way 'behaved'.....they are usually not....i understand that completely, but please do not generalise us...and for the record, my teachers are not 'uneducated'...sigh....honestly though saying "Why do people have children if they have no interest in actually raising and caring for them" you clearly do not understand what international schools here offer their graduates....in this matter i can say that you are completely ignorant...

    Siphon

I agree that international schools give us a lot of opportunity but 95% of the kids grow up with an elitist 'i don't care what happens to anyone else but myself attitude'. Yeah there are the few in each year group who believe their saints and gods gift to the world, they study like their parents told them to and are goody goody two shoes types, but they don't have any idea what happens outside of their small select group as no one else likes them, perhaps you were in this group?...

and BTW you are misreading his post, he is saying that the issan nanny is the uneducated one left to raise the kids, not the teacher from the international school.

My 11 year old son now in the UK was raised for the first 3 years of his life by what you call an Issan nanny - she was the most dedicated caring person anyone could have wished for. My son as a result has a great fondness for Thai people and the culture. It has opened up his eyes to the sensibilities of others and the need for being tolerant. Very narrow view in deed from the poster.

Dude, your kids 11, give it some time to form actual opinions and to get out of the "omg my kids amazing" light your shining on him. I was talking from personal experience, and as I am a social creature I hung out with many many people from almost all the international schools in bangkok. Tonight alone im going to londoners to hang out with kids from ISB and Harrow, maybe a few NIST kids will be there that Ill give me hello to. Not to mention all my BPS friends... And seriously your kids 11, everyone thinks their children are saints at 11 unless they're terrible.

Not a saint just understanding and respectful of other cultures starting off with his nanny in Thailand - he is 11 years old and has lived in Thailand, Saudi and the US before going back to UK. I

He is still 11 and hasn't gone through puberty yet. Trust me, your only seeing the silver lining fool.

About 14,000 $.... Its good though, I predicted the ecconomic crisis with it... or maybe its just reading a lot and understanding parents rarely see the flaws in their children and obviously he has given him a few reasons to be praised but he is 11 and the fact stands you can't judge your kids until they form actual opinions on things... They may say cute shit, and sound all goody goody and hel_l you may praise them for it, but thats another problem emerging from generation Y, we are all praised and made to believe our educations are better then previous generations, Generation Y goes into the work place believing they are going to do more efficient better work then their predecessors and in fact its proven we do less because of these beliefs which are pushed on by parents like this one...

  5. Same thing happened to me a few years ago and I only had a couple of hundred Baht on me.

After a bit of discussion they told me to pick up litter for 20 minutes, which I did, and then they let me go on my way with a cheery smile and a wave.

A thousand baht or a thousand butts sounds a reasonable penalty

I am really over seeing cigarette butts littering the world :o - in sand at the beach, in the grass in parks, on footpaths everywhere.

Smokers get away with littering far too much - not content with ruining the quality of the air I breathe :D , they make mess everywhere they go.

I am going to start carrying a can of room deodorant and spray it near anyone (not the really big ugly ex-wrestlers!) whose smoke I can smell - see if they like that, it seems fair to me!!!

My funeral arrangements will be posted here shortly, I think :D

Dude look in a klong... And its not the wrestlers you have to be worried about, its just plain westerners, they are so aggressive... :D

  8. There are things that countries can do to effect the value of their currency, not just manipulation...

Thailand is remaining unusually strong, it has been suggested this is because of currency manipulation... Wish I could find sources, haven't had much time for reading recently, with the financial crisis and all :o working 1 job whilst trying to start a business is a bitch...

  9. Ha, I found the images :o... Sorry about the bad angle, but it gives you an idea of what happens to these kids who are given everything... He actually called us after a day of trying to clean it himself... Poor job he did. He didn't want us taking photos, so I used my camera at opportune times before telling him I literally couldn't help him, the walls were ruined the carpet was ruined he got evicted the next morning...

    Anyway Take a GANDER :D

  10. No I was saying he embarrassed himself... I didn't say anything about kids talking in movies... But having been a kid, told off in a cinema in a pack of friends for being loud (a lot too) in Thailand I can assure you, I never felt embarrassed, I even had one Thai guy threaten to get his body guard to come kick my ass, which we laughed at more and he ended up trying to get physical, to which we laughed more. He did try confronting us at the end, but as I was with the Spanish ambassadors son at the time we were picked up out front in a diplomatic car and he didn't even try following us after that.

    Yeah, Thailand breeds little shits.

You seem to be living proof.

Yes, I was indeed, I admit I was a little asshol_e. Can't say I still acted that way however. But it was my point.

  11. Never EVER send your kids to saint Andrews.... and if you have a kid there get them out... full of little crack smoking psychos that school. My girlfriend currently attends St Andrews (final year) and she told me she has seen kids smoking yaabaa in the class and the teacher ignoring them... <deleted> kind of school is that! She says she regrets leaving BPS although all the snobs were there...

Oh and thats not even the worst I have heard about from that school... If you have international kids who are 16 or above and they have friends in other schools, ask them about a girl called lilly, you will hear some insanely disgusting thing about her and that school.

    Everyone knows her...

  12. Wait let me get this straight Aussiejosh, it is your view that it is ok for everyone to be talking during movies at movie theatres and to try to stop someone from doing so is in fact the unforgiveable transgression to be avoided? Not to not talk but rather to not try to stop someone from talking? Lunacy, but please say if that is your belief.

No I was saying he embarrassed himself... I didn't say anything about kids talking in movies... Yeah, Thailand breeds little shits. It's true, went to a school full of them (BPS). But seriously there is no better education without putting your kids in that environment.

this is exactly why i do not want my child to go to BPS, NIST or ISB

Heh, your loss, best education from what I have seen out of students from every other school. Especially when it comes to English, no one can explain it, but we can all write A - A + essays without really thinking about the topic, we get all the structure marks and my university professors constantly commented on the essay writing standard myself and another friend from Patana had.

But yes, its full of rich <deleted>.

That was more the parents fault that the school however. The demographics at that school are way off as well. I was the only student in the year group to have divorced parents for 2 years... Compare that to averages coming out of most places, with 120 students there should have been more than 1. It's a different world which prevents the breeding of mediocrity. Everyone there expects to be billionaires...

  13. This is not about reverse culture shock, it is just about culture shock.

I don't think he meant it literally, it was more a play on words relating to our forum...

I loved seeing the kids from my high school (spoilt elite Thai brats) going to Melbourne with me for university. Not knowing how to wash clothes or organize food for themselves after their parents left them there to fend on their own... One guy even quit before the second semester started, claimed uni was too hard but admitted to me later he couldn't stand doing house chores, I will try and find some pictures of one friends apartment. He never let us have a look at it and we always wondered why, then one day he got an eviction notice and he had to let us in to help him clean it... OMG the mess was unbelievable and he had already been cleaning it for 2 days, I mean 8 - 9 months of take away on meal wrappers on the floor and under his desk... and this kid is fat to... I seriously need to find those photos.

  14. The Young Chinese Policeman of whom you speak, borrowed US$500,000,000 and launched 4 or 5 Digital satelites over Thailand, named thaisat 1.. etc, now he owns huge telecom empire, he is a very good business man, but never corrupt, Take it from one who knows.

    Kiwijor. :o

How does a young policeman get a loan for US$500,000,000?

Extremely high risk venture capitalists who think he has had the best idea since the wheel? :D
